We are specializing in RF technology in wireless and fiber optical technology in fixed networks. Orbis products are used as components in data transmission networks in apartment buildings, public facilities, transportation, data centers, industry and in fixed and mobile networks of telecom operators. We keep at stock the most commonly used cables and other components, which you can order easily and quickly. Orbis is known for its ability to listen for customers needs. Long-term partnerships with both customers and manufacturers indicate confidence, ability to solve, operationally reliable products and particularly easy and flexible way of operating. We are continuously searching for new high-quality and competitively priced products from around the world. Importing is supplemented by Orbis own production facility in Estonia, which has been manufacturing telecom products since 1999. If the basic product range does not cover a version which fits the customer s need, we can easily customize configurations for different applications and also produce small patches. Thanks to our own production we are able to produce particularly comprehensive solutions for data transmission applications including, for example, power supply and termination enclosures for active devices. 3
MECHANICS Data Center needs an optimized environment for the core (servers). The structure of a data center should be optimized for required size but also to be easily expandable. Energy is a major expense item in maintaining of a data center, but with design and smart solutions it can be managed. Methods include solutions for power supply, cooling and heat transfer which all enable optimization of the energy usage and the best allocation costs per device. Server and Network Racks Server and network racks are available in numerous different configurations. Rack dimensions vary from 1000 to 1200 mm deep and width from 600 to 800 mm. The height is typically 42U, but other options are also available. Racks can be equipped with side walls or without walls, with perforated double door or with rack wide door. The perforation level of a door can be up to 80%. Various lock solutions are available from serialized locks to electronic access control solutions. Racks can be delivered as assembled or less storage space-consuming flat-pack delivery. Inorax-ST Inorax-AL PDU power bars A data center requires well organized, clear power distribution to the various devices inside the server racks. Inside the server rack power to the individual devices is transferred through socalled PDU power bar or electrical bar. There can be several power bars in a server rack. For example, the left-hand side of the bar receives power supply from the UPS1-system and the right side is fed by UPS2-system. PDU power bars are equipped with various capabilities, depending on the needs of the data center. Basic model for small bars is sufficient for simple needs, but there are available also power bars which calculate power consumption of different customers. There are also smart power bars and remotely managed bars. For example via PDU it is possible to start network devices remotely. In all circumstances, PDU power bar is very critical component in data center, which must be have high quality. 4
Coolers Various solutions for liquid helical cooling have increased during recent years. The idea of the cooling installed between racks is to absorb the heat generated by servers straightforwardly as possible to the cooling equipment, and then transfer the heat energy to the water, and consequently, lead the heat out of the data center via outlet piping. At the same time cooling device receives cold water through input pipes, which in turn blow cooling air to server devices. The purpose of in-line cooler is to keep cooling in the area where it is required. In addition there is intelligence, which allows device to adjust the fan speed and water flow. In this case, the energy consumption can be optimized. In the Orbis product portfolio there are available two different sized cooling equipment models for the installations between the racks. Smaller device provides a 30 kw cooling capacity and bigger is able to 60 kw of cooling power. Cooler Cold & Hot Aisle Containment Solutions Above mentioned cooling products are available in broad entities of cold (or hot) aisle solutions. In practice, the length of a closed hot or cold aisle solution is unlimited, because amount of cooling equipment and server racks is freely configurable by multiplying 600mm or 800mm solution. The end of an aisle can be closed by pair of hinged doors, manual or automated sliding doors or by swing door. 5
Micro Data Centers The soundproof micro data center is ideal lightweight solution suitable for office space, which contains its own UPS, firefighting and cooling system to protect the servers. Micro data center is an excellent alternative for small-scale needs, such as companies, schools and various facilities, because it does not require a separate machine room. Mini Data Centers A mini data center is a medium sized data center which is built with some server racks. In the mini data center solution there is the cooling equipment in front of the closed racks and the hot air is sucked out from the behind of the server racks. The mini data center solution can be build up to 1-6 server rack wide, and the redundancy requirements are taken into consideration depending on the amount of 30 kw cooling equipment. Container Data Center A container data center can also be used in permanent situation and for example, in case data center capacity is expanded by one container after another. Setting up a container data center into service is much faster than with a normal data center. Electricity, coolers and telecommunications are connected to the container from outside. There are different lengths of container solutions and if necessary, with the width of two containers it is possible to build up two rack lines with a cold aisle between them. 6
CABLING In the modern data center fiber optic has most capacity, is most reliable and most scalable data transfer tool, but also twisted pair cables are still in use. The amount of data transfer in a data center is massive, and it requires lots of cabling between different devices. The data center environment is constantly changing and developing so also cabling must be modular and easy to maintain. There have been developed new solutions for data transfer, first of all to provide a large capacity and secondly to manage a big number of cabling and its handling. Orbis gives a 25 year system warranty for the Huber+Suhner MTP trunk cable products. Cross connection rack Lisa Lisa cross connection rack mady by Huber+Suhner is designed in cooperation with telecom operators and installers. Lisa has many features which are not conventional 19 inch racks. Lisa s c-shaped design allows access to all parts from the front side, which reduces installation and maintenance time. In addition, it makes significant space savings, because a 300 mm deep Lisa rack can be installed in the front of line of active racks or for example on the wall, entirely outside of the cold space. Lisa racks can be installed facing each other ( back-to-back ) to obtain double density (6000 coupling fibers) in 600 mm of the floor surface area. The design also allows fiber connections directly to the next Lisa rack. Modular structure and scalability of the Lisa rack makes it flexible for also future needs. Multifiber MTP products MPO/MTP cables (data center standard) have 12 or 24 single fibers in one connector. The MTP is only possible connector for 40-100G data transmission speed. The MTP connector has the same size as a SC connector and the cable size is significantly smaller than in a normal patch cord. A single 12 fibers MTP cable assembly diameter is 3mm and a 24 fiber MTP cable diameter is 3,6mm. A 12 fibers MTP cable takes up to four times less space than twelve separate patch cords with 2mm diameter. Also time required for installation and changing is reduced using MPO/MTP. MPO/MTP supports the objectives of flexibility and scalability. There are special less loss connectors for critical cabling. MPO/MTP cables can be made of OM3, OM4 and SM types. Suitable optics for these connectors are 8 or 20 fiber QSFP modules. MPO/MTP cables can be found as following: MPO/MTP panels 19 rack MPO/MTP patch cord 7
MPO/MTP-Fan-out with12 fibers, which has MPO/MTP connector in one end and in the other end there are 12 LC connectors. MPO/MTP truck cable with 24 to 144 fibers MPO/MTP Panel of Lisa Rack Data center fiber optic panels For cross-connection panels in data centers there is a wide variety of metallic panel options. The most common size is suitable for 19 inch rack and with 1U height, but also for example, vertically mounted models are used to facilitate air circulation in the hall. Common 19 inch panels with SC and LC connectors can also be used in data centers. In modern platforms most popular are panels with MTP fibers, which include smaller modules inside. In these modular panels either single modules or the entire set can slide on rails out of the panel which makes the installation and maintenance easier. If necessary, it is also possible to connect in the same panel both fiber and copper cables by switching the front plate. 8
Cable Assembly LC/SC/ST/FC/MU connectors with UPC or APC polishing Single Mode or Multi Mode Cable length is typically between 0,5 to 150 meters Fibers are separated from core cable in 30 cm distance before 1st connector Between connectors distance is 5 cm (layered) Single fibers are separated from the core cable and secured by tubes if needed Color codes of fibers are in the same order at hte both ends of the cable assembly Cable assemblies are manufactured in Orbis own production from requested length of the fiber optical cable. The cable is terminated by connectors on both end or only on one end. Connectors are made in the industrial way by assembling connectors over fiber cable and the bonding is dried in the oven. At final stage the connectors are polished and cable assembly is checked and measured both visually and with a microscope and other technical instruments. Splicing is not in use, so a cable assembly has less attenuation loss than a cable with spliced pigtails. A cable assembly can be already in the factory connected into patch panel or to other closure. Loose connectors without an enclosure are secured during the transportation and installation with an easy-removing protection and pulling tube. Depending on the cable size and length and application cable assemblies are delivered in cardboard box or on cardboard/plywood/wooden reels. 9
Patch cords Patch cord is a fiber optic cable of certain length, which has assembled UPC or APC connectors on both ends. Single mode and multimode patch cords are widely available in both simplex and duplex options. New innovative Uniboot connector enables a new standard for cable density in data centers. Cable with 2 mm or 3 mm diameter has two fibers, which saves space compared to the normal duplex patch cord. Uniboot connector is also available with a longer locking latch, which makes handling in densely Orbis patch cord LC-LC packed panels and connections easier.. LC - XD Uniboot patch cords are suitable for LC duplex standard adapter or mini- LC Duplex adapter. The most common patch cords with lengths between 1 to 10m are available directly from our pick-up store as well as in online shop. In some of the products the polarity is easily replaceable. Patch cord LC-XD Patch cord MTP12-MTP12 Cable ducts Cable ducts are used for ensuring the optic fiber bending radius and for guarantee of the cable routes. Cable ducts are made from fire retardant and halogen-free material. Ducts can be installed to the data center s ceiling for example with round bars and brackets. Duct s dimensioning is easy and its assembly could be done with a standard screw driver and a small drill. If desired, standard scaled horizontal parts can be customized to match the ducts exactly. 10

OTHER PRODUCTS Koldlok grommet From under the raised floor there is very often needed to bring electricity and telecommunication cables to the data center racks. If in the cooling system is based on cold air blowing from under the floor, the pressure under the floor is collapsed because of the cabling holes. In this case, functionality of the cooling and cold airflow distribution under the raised floor becomes weak and cooling power of some corner areas is then insufficient (hotspot). So called Koldlok products, which look like round or square grommets, are used to prevent air escaping through the seal and to keep the air pressure under the raised floor within the framework of the planned values. Grommets allow the cables to pass through the product squeezed slightly from different directions to catch the cable at the same time preventing the flow of air. Hotlok blanking panels In a data center there are often server and data transfer racks waiting for the future installation. Then, depending on the cooling solution, it may become a situation in which airflows threat to flow through the empty racks and as a result the cooling process becomes inefficient and data center energy is wasted. Hotlok products are usually cover plates (panels) with height of one or two units, which are used to prevent air flow in the wrong direction. The products are available in different colors and for example, with attached temperature strip. 13
Cable seals for fire protection Very often in a data center cables are routed between different fire departments. The path must always be sealed according to fire regulations. Traditional way to seal is a fire pulping. Using a pulp is reasonable solution in situations where the cabling is done only once and there are no changes required later. However, usually the data center develops and on the other hand, organic growth may require new connections. In some situations totally new connections should be added or alternatively old connections should be removed. In this case, pulping is no longer the cheapest and most dynamic solution, and an alternative cable entry solution will bring benefit to changing situations. There are few products on the market which are functional and easy to use. They enable changes in cable routing with fire protected seals without the process of removing and reinstalling the pulp. Lifting tools Typically in a data center there are installations with very heavy equipment (massive 15U - switches, Blade frames), then installation of a device to the rack is impossible without the proper lifting equipment. Also because of safety reasons for smaller devices, it is recommended to have a pump trolley, platform or other lifting device. Then the device can be placed firmly between racks, for example between narrow rack rows. Different mechanical and battery-powered lifts are developed for data centers, so it is possible to move safely heavy equipment within the capacity of the bearing strength of the raised floor. At times tiles in the raised floor must be lifted. For facilitating the lifting work, there are vacuum based ergonomic suction lifters. 14
Measuring devices OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) measures fiber optic characteristics. OTDR s can more accurately detect and locate network faults and shortcomings in the signal flow. Reflectometers are available in several different models, depending on the measured object. The measurement results and graphs can be transferred to the computer by USB for latest review and analyze. The OTDR is a basic tool for telecommunication installer. Fiber Optic connector and adapter faults and purity are revealed by the fiber optic microscope. OSA Handheld mini Optical Spectrum Analyzer helps to measure light in spectrum mode up to 88 channels in the C band or up to 18 channels in CWDM model. OTDR FTE-7500A OSA FTE-8100C A visible light source pen is used for quick fault search at the wavelength of 650nm in single and multimode optic fiber. By Power Meter and Light Source it is easy to view the signal flow in an optic fiber. Power Meters and Visible Light Sources are available as options of OTDRs and OSA or as separate instruments. There are available different models depends on various applications needs. Latest products are the power meter and light source for MPO/MTP cables. The MPO/MTP Power Meter considerably speeds up MPO/MTP optic fiber measurements, because it allows to do 12 or 24 fiber MPO/MTP cable single or multimode measurements at the same time. Orbis product range includes everything for the optical fiber splicing, for troubleshooting, traffic detection and measurement devices. Also there are available launch fiber sets.
