He has a Masters degree from the Australian National University, where he also was a T.B. Millar Scholar in Strategic and Defence Studies, and holds a Bachelors degree from Ruhr-University Bochum. Before joining CGS, he worked as a Research Assistant for the Institute of International Relations at the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces, Hamburg, as well as at the Chair of International Relations, Ruhr-University Bochum. Enrico Fels is an elected member of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Arts (University of Bonn) as well as the Faculty s Structural Commission. He is also the Managing Editor of the book series Global Power Shift Comparative Analysis and Perspectives (http://www.springer.com/series/10201). He pursues a PhD on middle power allegiance in Asia-Pacific and is particularly interested in traditional and non-traditional security issues, esp. in an European, Central Asian and Asian-Pacific context, as well as power relations among members of the G20.
