HacKid Conference San Jose 2014 Conference April 19,20 2014 San Jose, CA http://www.hackid.org SPONSORSHIP KIT & AGREEMENT
ABOUT HACKID Kids are our future, why not give them that spark that will set them on a journey that only hacking can inspire? Hacking is the word our community chooses to use to describe creative, fun and innovative ways of exploring problem solving. HacKid is a new kind of conference focused on providing an interactive, hands-on experience for the entire family kids aged 5-17 & their parents in order to raise awareness, excitement and understanding of technology, gaming, mathematics, safety, privacy, networking, security and engineering and their impact on society and culture. We focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) enablement. We enjoy a fantastic mix of racial, gender and cultural diversity that reflects our community of amazing kids and we love raising the next generation of Hackers. By the way, Hacking is the word our community chooses to use to describe creative, fun and innovative ways of exploring problem solving. The idea for the conference revolves around providing an interactive, hands-on experience for kids and their parents which includes things like: Staying Safe Online Dealing with CyberBullies Robotics Online gaming safety Building Medieval Trebuchets Interactive robot building How the Internet Works Food Hacking Computerized Lego Derby racing Manipulating hardware and software for fun Low-impact martial arts/self-defense & antibullying techniques 3D Printing Learning to program in Scratch & Python The format of our conference is really interesting. Unlike a traditional conference where a call for papers is issued, or a completely unstructured un-conference, we mix advisory board recommendations with a crowd-sourced concept based on interesting submissions.
VENUE - THE TECH - SAN JOSE MUSEUM OF INNOVATION The idea for The Tech Museum of Innovation was little more than a dream back in 1978 when the Junior League of Palo Alto - and later the Junior League of San Jose - struck upon a grand plan to create a dynamic learning center devoted to science and technology. Twelve years later, "The Garage" swung open its doors at downtown San Jose's former convention center on San Carlos Street and quickly became a valuable educational resource for children and young adults. Just eight years later, The Tech moved into a bigger, dazzling 132,000-square-foot mango-and-azure-colored domed building, unlike any other in the Silicon Valley or the world. The Tech has become a landmark for visitors seeking a glimpse of the most inventive place on Earth -- Silicon Valley. The Tech Museum is an amazing venue for HacKid we will be using their facilities to host our event and simultaneously have access to the entire Museum s exhibit space ORGANIZERS The organizers of HacKid are respected professionals within their fields of expertise. The HacKid Advisory Board is staffed by people who regularly attend, speak at, and help organize large-scale and professional conferences so we know what is required to ensure a smooth, enjoyable, interesting, and safe conference experience. All HacKid conference organizers and volunteers go through an official and thorough background check by a known nationally-recognized and accredited agency and the appropriate insurance coverage is in place.
ATTENDEES & VISBILITY As a sponsor, your products and company will be positioned and in most cases enjoyed directly by several hundred kids (aged 5-17) and their parents. What they enjoy at the conference will likely inspire a corresponding purchase and use at home as well as school. Word-of-mouth and social media will further expand your marketing reach. We will absolutely love to engage with any of your media, social media and public relations teams in order to best promote your involvement, should that be something you would consider. Our goal for the HacKid conference is to see its success replicated across the country -- if not globally -- providing great exposure to a growing movement focused on enabling our children to better operate in an interconnected world, with classical curiosity and understanding about how that world works.
