WebAssign Homework: Go to http://lonestar.edu/kingwood and select LSC-ONLINE to login to D2L and see weekly assignments. The learning management system used by the college is called Desire to Learn(D2L). Each week the software will open the assignment at 5pm on Monday and close the assignment at 5pm on the following Monday. The new assignment will be visible as the previous weeks assignment closes. You can contact me seven days a week via D2L mail if you have questions. If you are having trouble with a textbook problem, you can refer to the Student Solutions Manual or send me an E-mail. Testing: Each week you will be required to take an online homework quiz on the assigned textbook sections. You have 7 days to submit the assigned quizzes using the WebAssign software. Each quiz will be about 5 problems similar to the assigned homework. You will have 45 minutes from the time you login to the quiz with two(2) submissions When you are ready to take a weekly quiz you can login at http://www.webassign.net/login.html. There will be 2 WebAssign tests that must be taken at one of the Lonestar College testing centers listed below. There are no exceptions. The mid-term test covers homework from the first half of the course and the last test covers material from the mid-term. You will have two(2) hours with two(2) submissions for each test. Cy-Fair(CASA 104) Montgomery(C 208) Kingwood(SCC 223) Tomball(L 201) North Harris (SSB 105) 5
Evaluation: The Webassign software only allows for fill-in-the-blank submissions of answers. Each submission will be counted as one point by the WebAssign software. If a question has three parts, it will be valued at three points. The WebAssign homework quizzes will count 50% of the course grade. The two tests will count for the other 50% of the grade. The course is not setup for extra credit or make-ups. Course grade: The WebAssign software will sum all points earned on the weekly homework quizzes and the two tests. You will be able to see your grade by clicking the Grade tab at the top of the homepage and then Raw Scores at the bottom of the page. Your final course grade will be determined by multiplying the percentage on the WebAssign homework by 50 points and your test percentage by 25 points. For example, if you scored 80% on WebAssign homework you would receive 0.80 x 50 = 40 points. If you scored 90% on test 1, 0.90 x 25 = 23 points. If you scored 80% on test 2, 0.80 x 25 = 20 points. Adding these you have 40 + 23 + 20 = 83. Thus, you score of 83 % would result in a B in the course. The grading scale is shown below, (A) = 90% - 100% (B) = 80% - 89% (C) = 70% - 79% (D) = 60% - 69% (F) < 60% 6
