MAC 1105 College Algebra 3 Credits Description: The major topics in this course are linear equations and inequalities; quadratic equations and inequalities; relations and functions; graphs; systems of equations and inequalities; exponential and logarithmic functions; and applications. A review of algebraic techniques is also included in this course as well as a review of polynomials, factoring, exponents, roots and radicals. MAC 1102 cannot substitute for this course. Prerequisites: MAT 1033 with a grade of C or better, or satisfactory score on the placement test. Co-requisites: None. Degrees Offered: A.A., A.S., A.A.S.. Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to: 1. Use algebraic techniques, including analytical, numerical, and technology-aided procedures, to solve equations and inequalities. 2. Represent algebraic functions and relations symbolically, graphically, and numerically. 3. Apply algebraic techniques, including analytical, numerical, technology-aided procedures, and modeling techniques to solve real-world situations. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of quantitative literacy in solving mathematical problems.

5 by taking the number of points the student earned and dividing that by the total possible points, give a score from (0 100). These test grades are averaged and this Test Average is used to calculate the final grade. Final Exam: The Final Exam is proctored comprehensive and is worth 100 points. The final exam is mandatory. Course Policies: Make-up Tests: Make-up Exams are given only in extreme situations. The student must provide copies of the documentation for the reason for missing the exam. The make-up exam will be a completely different exam. If you do not take the make-up test you will receive a grade of zero for that test, which will be used to calculate your final grade. The student must contact Mr. Moore regarding the scheduling of make-up exams. Electronic Devices, Cell Phones, and other communication devices: Cell phones, pagers, and other communication devices must be put into a silent mode and may not be used in the classroom. If the need to utilize such a device arises, then the student must leave the classroom. Cell phones, pagers, and other communication devices may not be used as calculators under any circumstances. Attendance: Students are expected to attend every class, to be on time, and to stay for the entire session. If a student is absent, it is his or her responsibility to: get the class notes from a fellow student, complete the required homework which will be due, get any needed help on the missed information from either the Learning Center or the instructor (outside of class time). If you are late and missed the roll call get with me after class to notify me of your attendance. I will excuse (not count for the purposes of grades) any student absences for reasons such as: military duty, jury duty, death in the family, and illness. me with the reasons for missing class.
