In spite f this, nt all children rise up t the expectatins f the schl r teachers r parents. One in five children and adlescents suffers frm a mental disrder f sme kind, and ne in 10 children has a serius emtinal disrder that affects his r her ability t functin nrmally. Unfrtunately, fur ut f five children wh need mental health services d nt receive them. Children may suffer frm a wide range f psychiatric illnesses such as cnduct disrders, eating disrders, attentin deficit hyperactivity disrder (ADHD), adjustment disrders, anxiety disrders, psychtic disrders, md disrders, substance abuse and dependence. Suicide is relatively rare in childhd, but its incidence rises rapidly in adlescence. Mst cmmn disrders in India are enuresis, ADHD, learning disrders, cnduct disrders, behaviral disrders and mre imprtantly cultural transitin and technlgical develpment. Children are prne t all kinds f advancements but they lack guidance in adapting t these advancements. Sund mental health leads t academic success in schl and is essential fr verall health. Children als feel unhappy, anxius, fearful, and angry. They may lack cncentratin, be frgetful, impulsive, have difficulty in cntrlling anger, and indulge in physical, emtinal and verbal abuse. They may have difficulty in getting their mind ff certain thughts; may suffer unexplained headaches, stmachaches, anrexia, r insmnia; may have truble maintaining friendships r dealing with peple; may feel like hurting themselves r thers. These are nt uncmmn scenaris. All these indicate that all is nt well with this child and shuld be taken seriusly. On many ccasins these reflect a child s reactin t his/her circumstances f life r his/her phase f develpment. In fact, mst parents, teachers and ther adults are nt sensitive in picking up these subtle frms f behaviral indicatins and ften ignre r neglect them. It is nly when the prblem becmes severe and disabling that sme attentin is paid t the child. In fact, in early stages it is much easier and simpler t intervene and push the develpmental trajectries int a healthier and adaptive curse. Untreated mental health prblems in children can cause negative and ftentimes tragic lng-term cnsequences. Sme f these cnsequences include drpping ut f high schl, substance abuse, a lack f vcatinal success, an inability t live and functin independently, health prblems and suicide. As a schl psychlgist, I will be respnsible in addressing all these issues with a visin t uplift the verall health f the schl. My wrk will include establishing rapprt with children, cnducting grup classes fr children, implementing prgrams fr the hlistic develpment f the children, cunseling children fr their persnal issues, taking care f the referrals frm the schl side, assessing children, addressing learning disabled students, wrking with teachers, addressing and empwering the parents, addressing the nn teaching staff, reprting t the management and ffering suggestins fr the verall develpment f the schl. The prcess will be as belw Establishing rapprt with children A series f grup classes will be planned t start with and these classes will help me t establish a gd rapprt with the children and make the children feel cmfrtable. Cnducting grup classes Grup classes will be cnducted class wise in grups n any particular tpic which may enlighten them n sme aspects f life r their age r living. Grup classes will be cnducted thrugh LCD prjectr r thrugh activities r thrugh any ther preferred mde. Grup classes will als be cnducted separately fr adlescent bys and girls t. Grup classes are almst like value educatin classes. Grup classes will be used t establish rapprt and at the same time t understand and find ut the students issues. Implementing prgrams fr the hlistic develpment f the children Varius prgrams will be designed as per the schl culture and requirement t empwer the students hlistic health. Prgrams will be implemented after cnsultatin with the management and with the cperatin f all ther staff members. Frms will be distributed. Interested students will be cunseled fr their issues. Students will be guided and will be empwered t slve their issues (wn t be advised). Student cunseling is a special science which is far different frm ther frms f cunseling. Here at schls, the cunseling shuld be instant withut wasting t much f students academic time. Metaphrs will be used as medium and techniques like Time travel will be used t reslve the issues. Student empwerment will get its due imprtance. It wn t be psychtherapy alne but a hlistic apprach encmpassing all ther therapeutic techniques like CBT, NLP, Alpha Stage Hypntism, Client Centered Cunseling, Play therapy, etc. The cases will be recrded and will be reviewed. A reprt f mnthly cunseling cases will be submitted t ne f the tp management fficial either the principal r any ther persn as the schl decides. The names pertaining t cases will nt be disclsed unless there is a necessity. Fr cases ut f cunselrs cntrl, interventins will be discussed with the persn in charge (either the principal r any ther persn as the schl decides). All the assessments will be infrmal and will be dne based up n the individual capacity f the child. Family cunseling fr parents in need will be prvided with the permissin f the schl management. Addressing the nn teaching staff Empwerment prgrams fr nn teaching staff will be rganized as per the requirements. Reprting t the management A reprt utlining all the wrk dne with future wrk, suggestins t management, etc. will be submitted t the management nce in tw r three mnths. This wrk can be dne n a day t day basis. I wish t be a freelancer visiting yur schl twice r thrice in a week, say tw r three cntinuus days at yur schl. First, will have t understand the climate and culture f the schl, with that will start having grup classes and grup interactins with the schl cmmunity. This will help t establish a gd rapprt with ne. Later, we will start t receive persnal cunseling requests frm the students and start initiating every step f the prcess listed ut. Full time practice at the schl campus may nt require t start with and if the demands arise then I will be adapting t the needs f the schl. Fr the child, schl is the secnd hme and the mental health f a child cannt be cnceived withut paying prper attentin t the schl mental health.
