AKOYA INSTALLATION TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS INTERNET EXPLORER CONFIGURATION FOR AKOYA.NET 1. TURN OFF UAC SETTINGS Before making the following changes in Internet Explorer, you must be a local administrator on the workstation. If using Windows VISTA or later, User Account Control (UAC) must be disabled. VISTA 1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts. 2. Click Turn User Account Control on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 3. Clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box, and then click OK. Windows 7 1. Click the Start button and Search for "UAC" 2. Select Change User Account Control Settings 3. Slide UAC setting down to Never Notify 4. Make a note of the UAC setting to put back when finished. 5. If the default setting is off you can just leave it off. 6. Reboot. 2. USE OF INTERNET EXPLORER You must use Internet Explorer 7, 32-bit or later to use Akoya.net. Internet Explorer 64-bit is not compatible. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/products/ie/home *Microsoft plans to release an update that provides cross browser support, making Akoya compatible with Safari on Macs, Firefox on PCs or Macs, and Chrome on PCs. We will make an announcement once Akoya has been updated. INTERNET EXPLORER 10 COMPATIBILITY To use Internet Explorer 10 you must add akoya.net to your compatibility view settings. If you do not have a Menu Bar (a toolbar with options such as File, Edit, View) right click the Internet Explorer toolbar and choose Menu bar. Then click Tools and choose Compatibility View Settings. Make sure akoya.net appears in the Add this website field, and click Add.
IE>TOOLS>COMPATIBILITY VIEW SETTINGS, ENTER AKOYA.NET AND CLICK ADD 3. APPLY RECOMMENDED BROWSER SETTINGS A. SAVE BROWSER HISTORY/COOKIES If you enable this option, all of your browsing history is deleted when you close Internet Explorer. It deletes everything marked within your Browsing History Settings button. Deleting your Temporary Internet files, will cause Internet Explorer to cache the files again, and deleting the Cookies will cause you to be signed out of Akoya.net. To optimize your Akoya.net experience, we recommend you leave this box UNMARKED. IE > TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > GENERAL > UNCHECK DELETE BROWSER HISTORY ON EXIT
B. INCREASE DISK SPACE FOR TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES To ensure internet files for Akoya.net are not being deleted, increase your Temporary Internet Files disk space. IE > TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > GENERAL > CLICK SETTINGS IN THE BROWSING HISTORY > UPDATE DISK SPACE TO USE TO 350 C. MAKE AKOYA.NET A TRUSTED SITE The Internet Explorer Security tab is used to set and change options that can help protect your computer from potentially harmful or malicious online content. By placing the URLs used for Akoya.net into the Trusted Sites, it places fewer restrictions on these web sites. Click the Security Tab.
IE > TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > SECURITY CLICK ON TRUSTED SITES ICON, THEN CLICK SITES BUTTON TYPE *.akoya.net IN THE ZONE FIELD UNCHECK THE BOX NEXT TO REQUIRE SERVER VERIFICATION CLICK ADD, AND THEN CLOSE.
D. ALLOW POPUPS FROM AKOYA.NET Akoya.net uses pop-up windows, such as when a new Constituent record is opened or created. These pop-up windows can be blocked by the Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker. You must configure the Pop-up Blocker to exclude Akoya.net URLs. IE > TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > PRIVACY > IN THE POP-UP BLOCKER SECTION, CLICK SETTINGS TYPE *.akoya.net IN THE ADDRESS OF WEBSITE TO ALLOW FIELD, CLICK ADD, THEN CLOSE E. APPLY RECOMMENDED BROWSER SETTINGS The Zoom functionality in Internet Explorer lets you enlarge or reduce the view of a web page. Unlike changing font size, zoom enlarges or reduces everything on the page, including text and images. You can zoom from 10% to 1000%. Note however that a Zoom setting of anything other than 100% will result in an increase in page rendering time, and hence in slower performance from your Akoya.net system. From the Akoya.net main page: PRESS CTRL+0 (KEYBOARD SHORT-CUT FOR A 100% ZOOM LEVEL SETTING IN MOST VERSIONS OF INTERNET EXPLORER) SET THE ZOOM TO 100% FOR BEST PERFORMANCE 5. INTEGRATION WITH EGRANT.NET AND EGRANT.NET REVIEWER Akoya.net can be integrated with egrant.net and egrant.net Reviewer. This integration allows Akoya.net to display some information from egrant.net on the Request record. To enable this you must change a security setting, and add egrant.net to your list of managed privacy sites.

B. MAKE AKOYA INTEGRATE WITH EGRANT.NET AND EGRANT.NET REVIEWER IE > TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > PRIVACY > CLICK SITES BUTTON TYPE *.egrant.net IN THE ADDRESS OF WEBSITE FIELD, CLICK ALLOW, THEN OK 6. RESTORE UAC SETTINGS After making the changes in Internet Explorer restore the UAC settings to previous level (See Step1).
