ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORS Paul Zizka is a professional mountain landscape and adventure photographer based in Banff, Alberta. Specializing in photographing difficult conditions and hard-to-reach places, Paul has a passion for documenting the interplay of light and weather in the mountains, shooting alpine endeavours, and capturing the spirit of adventure. Paul s award-winning photos have been featured in a variety of publications, including explore magazine, IMPACT and Canadian Geographic. His commercial clients, such as Banff Lake Louise Tourism and Parks Canada, depend on his photography to bring Banff National Park to the world. Wayne Simpson is a professional photographer based in Elora, Ontario specializing in landscape and dramatic portraiture. PACKAGE RATES There is only space for 15 photography participants, so you will have plenty of opportunities for one-on-one instruction from Paul Zizka and Wayne Simpson. There are a few spots available for spouses/friends that would like to join the package, but not participate in the photography sessions. $3,279 for a single photographer in a room $4,259 total for two people in sharing one room (one bed) and only one participating in photography sessions $5,129 total for two photography participants sharing one room/bed (no two bed room options available) Rates are available for a limited number of guests wishing to join the group but not partake in the photo sessions first requested, first reserved. Upgraded room accommodations are available for additional rates (no two bed room options available). WHAT TO BRING Suitable and comfortable clothing, which you can layer for outdoor photo sessions - sunshine, rain, snow Warm jacket Waterproof jacket and pants (we will be shooting no matter the weather) High rubber boots (we will work along shorelines quite a lot) Warm hat Headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries Gloves Your own camera equipment (DSLR, which allows manual control of shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings) Sturdy tripod Cable (or wireless) shutter release Laptop for editing (with editing software, preferably Bridge/Photoshop or Lightroom) Extra camera batteries Chargers Lens hood 10 stop filter and polarizer (optional, although most 2014 and 2015 participants wished they had these items) Additional filters if you like Something soft to kneel on if you like (we are going to encourage everyone to shoot low) Resort casual clothing for all meals and activities in the hotels IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER Mountain weather is fickle and a flexible approach to the itinerary will yield better photographs in the end. All activities through the day are optional. Some meal times and travel times will be a set schedule. Typical day will start by leaving the hotel at 6:30 a.m. with a coffee, returning around 10:00 a.m. for breakfast. Most of the day is at your own schedule, leaving for sunset shoot at 4:00 p.m. and arriving back at the hotel by 8:00 p.m. for dinner. At least one night time shoot through the tour, leaving the hotel at 10:00 p.m. and returning at midnight. More specific timing can be supplied upon demand, but will be flexible to ensure we take advantage of when the right conditions are in place. Snacks and treats will be available at all times on the bus to and from locations. FITNESS LEVEL Moderate fitness is required, as we will be hiking to some destinations. Paul and Wayne are both incredible instructors: patient, hands-on, generous with information/tips and very focused on the group. I ve attended many tours/workshops and Fairmont organized a first class event with luxury accommodations, delicious meals and easy group transportation, something I haven t experienced in other tours.
