ECCnet Item Certification Background

ECCnet Item Certification Background Address the increasing demands for accurate, brandvalidated product data Central source of nutritional data to enable one-to-many sharing of information Collaborative, industry-driven process to drive supplychain efficiencies Based on GS1 global standards and existing Industry protocols

Background The Item Level Nutrition initiative is to provide Brand Owner validated product nutrition information for protecting brand integrity and ensuring consumer trust Implementation Phases: o Phase 1 B2B exchange of data o Phase 2 Publish data to third party providers (i.e.: Canadian Celiac Assoc, Heart & Stroke) o Phase 3 Global interoperability (Phases 2 and 3 require approval by the GS1 Canada Grocery Sector Board). Phase 1 was approved by GS1 Canada Grocery Sector Board in late 2011. Future phases TBD. ECCnet Item Certification system was launched in March 2013 and it is a centralized industry solution for Brand Owners to validate product nutrition data

Current Activities Adoption Rate: o Total Captured 33,000 (Approx) o Total Certified 20,000 (Approx) o 535 members have subscribed o Retailers have integrated or are in progress of integrating to receive Certified nutrition data Industry Protocol: o Approved by Associations and GS1 Grocery Sector Board Sub-Committee to support the implementation of ECCnet Item Certification
