RDM+ Remote Desktop for Mobiles For Blackberry Playbook Getting Started Guide RDM+ (Remote Desktop for Mobiles) is an application that makes it possible to control your desktop or laptop remotely from your mobile device. With RDM+ you can view the remote desktop on the screen of BlackBerry PlayBook and perform regular keyboard and mouse operations. With RDM+ you can send and receive mail, browse the Internet, edit files, perform operations with documents and do hundreds of things that you usually do on your home or office computer. RDM+ software consists of two components: the desktop part and the mobile application. 1. The desktop part (RDM+ Desktop) should be installed on the remote computer 2. The mobile application (RDM+ Application) should be installed on your mobile device. Both components should be installed in order to connect to your remote computer from your BlackBerry PlayBook. 1. Installing RDM+ Desktop on a computer Free RDM+ Desktop should be installed on every computer you re going to access remotely. Latest version of RDM+ Desktop can be downloaded at our website: www.rdmplus.com/rdm/bb/download.html To install the application, run the installation file and follow installation wizard. Note: RDM+ Desktop should be installed with administrator privileges locally on the computer. RDM+ cannot be installed via terminal session. Upon first launch of RDM+ Desktop, you will be offered to register an account in RDM+ Service. For the detailed instructions please see RDM+ Desktop Getting Started Guide available at: www.rdmplus.com/rdm/bb/download.html Note: Each computer has a unique computer number assigned at registration in the service. If connection to RDM+ Online Service is established and the registration completes successfully, unique RDM+ Computer Number will be assigned to your computer.
2. Setting up RDM+ on Blackberry Playbook Latest version of RDM+ can be downloaded at BlackBerry AppWorld. Upon first launch of RDM+ on your BlackBerry PlayBook you will be prompted to accept End User License Agreement. Account log-in form will appear on the next screen. If you have already used RDM+ Web Service, please feel free to login with your existing account. If you are first-time RDM+ user, please tap Sign up button in the upper right corner of the screen. To create a new RDM+ account, please enter your name, email address and desired password. Please note that email address should be valid, as registration notification will be sent to the specified email address.
When all required information is entered, please tap Sign up button. Your RDM+ account is now created. To edit the information which you have entered during registration procedure, press Edit My info button. To change the password, tap on Change Password button. You can also completely delete the account by tapping on Delete Account button.
3. Connecting to demo computer To make sure that RDM+ works properly works on your BlackBerry PlayBook, you may connect to our demo computer. Please tap Connect button next to Demo Computer entry in the RDM+ computer list. The demo computer works in demo mode. Only remote desktop and several examples of control commands will be displayed. Complete list of management commands, mouse and keyboard controls are disabled. 4. Adding your computer to the RDM+ Computer list To add your remote computer to RDM+ remote computers list, please press Add button in the upper right corner of the screen. Please enter brief description of the computer you are going to connect to, computer number (can be seen it in RDM+ Desktop application) and account name. Note: The account name and the password must match those you have entered in RDM+ Desktop during the installation. You can create new account or change the existing one by selecting Accounts in RDM+ Desktop.
RDM+ can either request password every time you are connecting to a remote computer or store it for quicker access. Please note that not storing your password is safer, hence Request account password when connecting option is not enabled by default. You can also select the desired connection quality/connection speed rate under Options menu. Low quality is set by default. When all the required fields are filled, please tap Save button. RDM+ computer list shows all added computers. If you want to connect to any of them just tap Connect button. 5. Remote desktop control To perform left click, please tap the screen. Double click can be performed with double-tap. For more controls please use main menu. Tap on the screen and hold your finger and the menu will appear. The pointer in the center shows the mouse position on the remote computer.
Note: To drag an object tap Drag & Drop button and then tap where you want to drop it. Please pay attention to the mouse pointer in the center of the menu. It should be placed over the object you want to drag and drop. Text input. This option is used for text input and sending to the remote computer. Control keys menu. These buttons sends Esc, Tab, Enter, BackSpase, Delete, Insert, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V and Ctrl+x keys respectively. Use «Forward» and «Back» buttons to see next or previous page respectively. There are 5 control keys pages in total, they include Ctrl+Alt+Del, Home, End, Run, Find shortcuts, control keys like Up, Down, Left, Right, Open and Save shortcuts and many more. Note: Shortcuts are OS-dependent, the list may differ on MacOS.
Draw mode In this mode tapping the screen is similar to pressing the left mouse button. You can tap and hold the finger while moving it around the screen just like you do with your mouse. You may use this mode with graphic editors to draw with your finger. Start graphic editor, select Draw or Pencil or Brush tool, then enter the Draw mode in RDM+, put your finger onto the screen and move it to draw a free line. This mode can also be used to move windows, icons, control scrollbars and many other purposes. Shutdown menu You may use shutdown menu to log out, restart or shutdown your computer. 6.
