Notes from the President Hope everyone is well. There s a lot going on this time of year. I hope every one had a happy holiday season and New Year. That s always a big event for the whole family. The activities committee is open for ideas for things to do. Please bring your suggestions to the meeting so we can discuss them. Never pass up an opportunity to have a party! March 5th is Brazoria Heritage day. We are doing a car show, so save that weekend. We need all volunteers we can get. There will be plenty of cars to see and all sorts of things for sale. Everyone make sure you have paid your dues for this year. Remember as always, we need your articles, and pictures for the newsletter each month. Get em out and shine em up, it s Corvette season for a while. Corvette expo is in Galveston this year on Feb 27 &28. Be thinking about a group display for the club and if we have enough cars, we can all be together. Car Show Committee: The car show will be on March 5 th in Brazoria at the Brazoria Heritage Festival. It was asked if there are volunteers for the show and Four-five people stated they would help. Dale Libby volunteered to chair the committee. Other people volunteered. Judges-Gill Rasco, Trophies-possibly Jimmy Schwarz, Registration-Gail Stephenson, Music-Kenneth Nugent, Announcer-Dale Libby A committee meeting will be held on Thursday, January 18 th at Peggy Miller s Home at 7:00. More volunteers are welcome. New Business: A discussion was held about charity donations for the coming year. If we are going to sponsor the BACH Roll N Stroll the funds need to be sent before February 20 th so the club s name may be on the tee shirts. Gil did say if we decided it is too early to donate for this then BACH does have two other fundraisers each year, the Barn Bash and the FunFest in Pearland. Hayman clarified his statement from November that we need to make a plan/budget of the funds. The plan should be in advance of the spending rather than for funds spent in advance of earning at the car show or paying dues.
Gil stated that each member send him their favorite charity (by the end of January) and he would make a master list for the members to vote on a set number of charities (possibly 3) and the money could be donated to those charities. The amount and percentage would need to be decided upon. Charities mentioned were BACH, Alzheimer s Association. The NCCC supports The Kidney Foundation. This year the money would probably be taken out of the MCCC funds available now and then next year s will be decided at the end of the year of next January from funds from the 2016 Car Show. All members agreed that money from the car show and membership funds needs to be kept to fund the car show next year in case there is a poor showing at the car show & funds are not made. Discussion was held on the legalities of not selecting the donation charity before holding the car show and giving out the donations. Gil stated he would look into the legality issue.
