SECTION 3: Tour Information Tour A South Murrayville This tour takes in the sites around the south of Murrayville in the Big Desert Wilderness, extending from Carina to Cowangie. Approximately 101kms in length, you will be able to experience places such as Blue Gums, Coburn s Pines, Red Gums, Thomson Peaks Lookout, Cactus Bore, Little Billy and John s Bore. A tour that is for all abilities, you will be challenged at various points and get to see some great views! Tour B Brushcutters This tour takes in the sites around the south of Cowangie in the Big Desert Wilderness, extending from Murrayville to Tutye. Approximately 125kms in length, you will be able to experience places such as Sim Perry s Bore, Big Billy, Brushcutters Flat, Big K Lookout, White Springs and Mountain Pine. A tour that takes in some great sites with the opportunity to walk up a couple of hills with fantastic views! Tour C Sunset This tour takes in the sites north of Cowangie in the Murray Sunset National Park extending from Murrayville to Linga. Approximately 190kms in length, you will be able to see places such as Linga Trig, Mount Crozier, Honeymoon Tank, Pink Lakes, the Salt Museum and a Gypsum Mining Site. A longer tour that has some back road driving, you will experience the wonders of the Pink Lakes and great views from up high! Tour D South Wyperfeld This tour takes in the sites well into the Wyperfeld National Park to the south of Murrayville. Approximately 224kms in length, the longest of the tours, it takes you to places such as Big Billy, The Springs, Chinaman Well, Hermies Garden, Milmed Rock and Pigeon Springs. Some longer stretches of driving but well worth it with some great sites along the way! Tour E Berrook This tour takes in the sites to the north west of Murrayville toward the VIC / SA border in the Berrook State Forest. Along the way you will see places such as Bolton s Bore, Eucalyptus Plant ruins, Bellbird Bore, Manya North School Site and the Rockholes. This tour is well suited for the family as it has a taste of everything farming, historical sites and some good 4WD ing. All tour routes can be seen on the Victoria s Deserts 4WD Touring Guide Map. A first in best dressed policy applies to each tour. Register early to avoid disappointment! The exact leaving times of the tours will be finalised in advance and you will be notified of this before the weekend. Please carry extra water for drinking and don t forget to supply your own lunch. - 2 -
Section 4: The Program Below is the daily program information for the event. All tours have a maximum number of 15 vehicles, so you need to register early. We will contact you by email / phone if you need to change a preference. Friday 6 th April 4pm onwards Registration at the Murrayville Recreation Reserve. Chance to spend the afternoon settling into your accommodation. Self guided tour of Murrayville. Dinner at The Murrayville Hotel from 6 8pm (pay on the night). Saturday 7 th April 7:30am Registration and Tour Briefings 8am 5pm Tours of the Big Desert Wilderness, Wyperfeld National Park & Murray Sunset National Park. Please number in order of preference with 1 being your first choice. Section 5: Conditions of Entry Indemnity: Conditions of Entry to the Mallee 4WD Easter Extravaganza Please read the following and sign at the bottom. The entrant / user acknowledges that 4 wheel driving and associated activities are dangerous with many inherent risks as a result of which personal injury (and sometimes death) are common and ordinary consequences and assumes and accepts all risk of personal injury or death in any way whatsoever arising from such activities. The entrant / user shall comply with Four Wheel Drive Victoria s Code of Ethics (www.fwdvictoria.org.au), Parks Victoria s Park Code (www.parkweb.vic.gov.au) and signs or other directions of the M4WDEE or the right of entry to the Wyperfeld National Park, Murray Sunset National Park and Big Desert Wilderness may be suspended or cancelled. Entrants / users appreciate the program for the M4WDEE 2012 may change at short notice and where possible an alternative tour / activity will be offered. Information for Participants: 1. All participants must be registered at the M4WDEE desk at the Murrayville Recreation Reserve on Friday afternoon or 1 hour before the tour leaves. 2. All participants need to let registration know which trips they are doing and when. 3. All participants need to be respectful of the environment and drive only on designated roads and tracks. 4. All participants must appreciate that the program may change at very short notice and if instructed by Emergency Services follow their instructions. 5. All of the trips planned as part of the M4WDEE 2012 are within National Parks. All participants must comply with the regulations applying to National Parks (www.parkweb.vic.gov.au). 6. All participating vehicles need to be fitted with front and rear recovery points. 7. It is the owner s responsibility to ensure the participating vehicles is roadworthy and appropriately set up for each trip. All terrain tyres preferred (70% tread minimum) and carry spare wheel with jack and wheel brace. UHF radio is essential. 8. Please carry a First Aid Kit and if you have special needs, it is your responsibility to be prepared. E.g.; Epi-Pens, asthma medications, etc. 9. Appropriate tyre pressure is the participants responsibility and they will adjust accordingly when conditions permit. 10. A minimum of 8 vehicles per tour is required for a particular tour to run. DISCLAIMER: The Mallee 4WD Easter Extravaganza Committee, Parks Victoria and Victoria Police accept no responsibility for any accident which might occur during the M4WDEE 2012 and have not arranged any Personal Accident Insurance to cover participants who enter at their own risk. Section 6: Registration Cost and Payment A $40 deposit per vehicle is required to secure your spot for the weekend tours. This will be taken off the total cost when paying your registration fees on the Friday afternoon or Saturday / Sunday morning. Prices are per person per day which includes tag-along-tour, registration pack, and a 2 course meal in the evenings on Saturday and Sunday. Adults - $40 : Children U16 - $20 : Children U8 - Free A $220 price cap for the weekend will be placed on a vehicle containing a family of 2 adults and 2 or more children. For those not doing tours over the weekend, you are welcome to join us for dinner on Saturday or Sunday evening at a cost of $20 Adult : $12 Children U16 : $8 Children U8.
