This course will explore and explain how to use online social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and My Space etc. This course aims to facilitated the building of social relations among people who for example share the same interests, activities and backgrounds. TUESDAY CLASSES 8. INTRODUCTION TO SOUND ENGINEERING Tutor: Marc Balbirnie This course will cover the basic principles of sound engineering with a focus on live performance. Topics will include: analogue and digital audio, digital audio workstations, microphones, PA, mixers, EQ, gain, compression, etc. The course will be taught with hands on experience and by the end of the course a student will have a basic understanding of sound engineering practice and principles. Fee: 70 Time: 7.00pm 8.30pm Max No: 15 9 INTERNET SAFETY FOR PARENTS Tutor : Marc Balbirnie This course will provide parents with knowledge of the basics of internet safety for children and teenagers. Topics will include: dealing with the threats of the internet, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Ask.fm, Snapchat, Skype/Viber, Windows Parental Control Settings, Firewalls, mobile devices, etc. This course will be taught by a trained child protection trainer with an MPhil Degree in Media Technology. Fee: 70 Time: 8.45pm 10.15pm Max No: 15 10. COMPUTERS (BEGINNERS) Tutor: Mary Morrin This course starts at the vey beginning turning on the computer. It will introduce the keyboard and progress to deal with some features of word processing. On finishing the course, participants will be able to send a typed letter from their computer to their friends and e-mail if the news is too urgent for normal postal service!! Other areas covered within this course will include Online Shopping & booking holiday breaks. Any other areas the participants request to be covered will be explored within the eight weeks. TUESDAY CLASSES 11. YOGA Tutor: Joanne Bredin Yoga is a system involving breathing exercise and the holding of particular body positions, based on Hindu philosophy. Exercise mats are required. Fee: 60 Time: 7.30pm-8.15pm Max No: 12 12. DRAWING Tutor: Susan Carr Learn to draw using different media (pencil, charcoal, etc.). Areas such as still-life, landscape, seascape, portraits and animals will all be explored. Participants should bring a pencil and a drawing pad to the first class. THURSDAY CLASSES 18. DRESS, CURTAIN & ROMAN BLIND MAKING Tutor: Yanina Chugai This course is aimed at participants who wish to learn basic dressing making techniques. Participants will be shown how to set up and use a sewing machine. Step by step students will be taught how to assemble a skirt using a commercial pattern and fabric of their choice. Techniques learned include: fabric and pattern preparation, seaming, inserting a zip, waist banding and hemming. On completion of this course participants will have a skirt which they can wear and also techniques which they can apply to other garments. This sewing course is also designed for students, who would like to learn how to make curtains and roman blinds. Students will learn how to take window measurements, calculate how much fabric is needed, choose fabric appropriate for different windows, cut out sample roman blind or curtain, sew fabric, be able to line and interline curtains and blinds. Other areas covered would included folding corners and hand stitch hems. Fee: 70 Time 7.30pm 9.00pm Max No: 12 19. COOKING TO ENTERTAIN 10 Weeks Tutor: William Crowley This course will give the skills to enjoy casual cooking in the home. Would you like to be able to rustle up a delicious dish for home entertaining or simply to prepare stress free meals for the family. These classes will also show you how to cook economically with minimum fuss by utilising simple, and easy to source ingredients. Fee: 110 Time: 7.15pm 9.15pm Max No: 12

Design, develop and publish a live professional website, with the ability to update, refine and expand it indefinitely after the course. THURSDAY CLASSES 22. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? - FAMILY HISTORY (FOR BEGINNERS) 6 Weeks Tutor: Elaine Hannon How to research your family history. This course shows students how to start their research, where to go and how to record what they find. The following topics will be covered; overview of what genealogy is about, value of family sources, where to start, share class experience to date, reasons for taking the course. Students will learn how to read the information provided on the Census Returns 1901 & 1911. Civil Records (birth, marriages and deaths) how and where to find them. Examine land and property records, wills, trade directories and occupational records what they tell us. SENIOR CITIZENS ART CLASS Tutor: Susan Carr Learn to paint for pleasure. This class includes an introduction to acrylic and oil painting. Enjoy painting at your own pace in a friendly environment.
