TAFE Acting courses Diploma of Arts (Acting) 12 month course Advanced Diploma of Arts (Acting) - 12 month course The Diploma of Arts (Acting) explores the transition from technique to practice in acting, writing and directing. This course is considered the first year of training. The students perform in 4 public productions, write and direct their own minor work and engage in practice-led training for 20 hours per week. The training includes: acting, voice, music and singing, movement and dance and screen auditioning. All rehearsals are in class time and assessed as part of their creative process. The Advanced Diploma of Arts (Acting) provides students with more complex techniques and material and places greater emphasis on the development of performances product/s that students can add to their portfolio. Again, the students perform in 4 public productions of a more complex nature, write and direct their own major work as part of a festival and engage in practice-led training for 20 hours per week. As above, this includes: acting, voice, music and singing, movement and dance and screen auditioning. All rehearsals are in class time and assessed as part of their creative process. Entry to this course requires, either: completion of the Diploma of Arts (Acting), or the demonstration of substantial training and performance experience that is comparable to training achieved at a Diploma level. The focus at the Regional Institute of Performing Arts is on creating avenues for employment, therefore the writing and directing opportunities develop the performer into a versatile creative practitioner and broaden their employment opportunities. Interviews are conducted from late November to mid January. There are NO formal auditions involved in the application process. Students undertaking this course are eligible for VET-FEE HELP.
