Installing the OKI MCx61MFP USB Attached, in Windows 8 Preface Note: The following instruction uses screenshots of either the OKI MC561MFP for illustration purposes. However, these instructions apply to both the OKI MC361MFP and the OKI MC561MFP The Windows 8 operating systems, by design, have Class drivers built into the OS. This is Microsoft s method of reducing the footprint of the Windows 8 operating systems. Further, Windows 8 functionality is such that when a device is connected via Plug N Play, Windows 8 will automatically associate one of these built-in Class drivers with the connected device. In the case of the OKI MCx61MFP device, Windows 8 will automatically associate and install the OKI PCL6 Class driver with the device. This is the normal operation of Windows 8 and it works fine for single-function devices, but can present issues to users of Multi-Function devices, under Windows 8. Therefore, under Windows 8, if you plan on installing your OKI MCx61MFP, USB attached, it is our recommendation that users install the OKI MCx61MFP software, first, before connecting the device to the Windows 8 PC. The OKI MCx61MFP installer will prompt the user to connect the OKI MCx61MFP at the appropriate time. If you have already connected your OKI MCx61MFP, USB attached, to your Windows 8 machine, please follow the steps below, to re-configure your OKI MCx61MFP installation.
