Setting up your new Live Server Account Welcome to Remote Data Backups LiveVault Service. This document will help you set up the agent service on your server as well as giving you some guidance on accessing the Live User Interface and setting your backup policies for optimum results. Checklist Here s a handy checklist to use for the process of setting up your Live Server account. Complete a Customer Rate Plan Agreement (CRPA). When you request a new LiveVault account, we email you an agreement to digitally sign and complete. When you complete the document, the DocuSign service will automatically send Remote Data Backups a copy of the completed CRPA. You ll also receive a copy for your records. Once Remote Data Backups receives the agreement, our technicians set you up on the Live Service. The technical contact designated on the CRPA automatically receives an email containing the link to download and install the Live agent. PLEASE NOTE - You will need to be sure that any current Remote Data Backups (as well as any other online backup service) software is uninstalled from the server BEFORE installing the LiveVault agent. We will still have any backed-up data archived during the initial transition if you have been using Remote Data Backups Standard Server and have a current backup when you uninstall the agent software. Once the agent is installed, open the Live User Interface at https://rdblive.onlinebackup.com/ from any computer with a web browser. Internet Explorer is preferred. Use the Admin login and temporary password contained in your LiveVault welcome email to Log into the Live User Interface. Once you are logged into the Live User Interface, set up your backup policies, save the policies and let them run. Please Note: Because servers generally have a greater volume of data than regular PCs, your backup policies can contain a large amount of data. Sometimes this can cause the initial upload of your selected data to take a long time to complete. It is very important that you not cancel the initial upload. If you are not seeing the progress on your policies that you want, Please call our support staff at 866-722-2587. We can check on the status of your backup and help correct any problems or give you an update of progress.

Policy Guidelines Build multiple policies. Use multiple policies to allocate your data selections for standard policies into more manageable sizes and to avoid policy size limits. This also helps with bandwidth allocation. As smaller policies complete, more bandwidth becomes available to the larger policy(s). Set your System State backup to once daily rather than every 15 minutes. In addition to a simpler selection choice, should you ever need to recover a system state, this strategy leaves more bandwidth available for your larger data selection policy(s). Once you ve set up your policy(s) and they have started to run, be patient. The initial upload (especially on larger policies) can take some time. If you stop or edit the policy, it will start over and extend the initial upload time. The good news is that once the initial upload is complete, it will only be transmitting changes that have occurred to your data since the last backup.
