READ THIS MANUAL BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE INSTALLATION. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS MAY VOID YOUR WARRANTY! The main power to any existing system must be disconnected prior to the installation. The LUMEON 360 is intended to be used for new outline lighting systems or as a replacement of existing neon, fluorescent and other types of contour luminaries systems. When LUMEON 360 is used to replace an existing system, all existing system electrical components must be removed and replaced with LUMEON 360 compatible components. For neon outline lighting, the components to be replaced include neon tubes, neon power supplies, and all secondary wiring. For fluorescent outline lighting, the components to be replaced include fluorescent luminaries, and if used, remote ballasts, and ballast secondary wiring. Install in accordance with the NEC and Local Electrical Codes. LUMEON 360 SYSTEM INSTALLATION MANUAL

A./ REMOVAL OF EXISTING SYSTEM 1. 1./ Disconnect main power to the existing luminary system by turning off the disconnect switch and the main circuit breaker. Note: Use AC power tester to verify that main power is off. 2./ Remove all existing transformers (or ballasts) and all wiring from transformer to the junction box or disconnect switch. 3./ Carefully remove all glass tubes, tube supports, sockets and secondary wiring. Note: All removed material must be properly disposed to meet your local, state and federal regulations. Note: Existing neon tube supports can be used for installation of LUMEON 360 system. Spacing between tube supports must meet the requirements in section B4. All neon tube supports must be the same type. 4./ Determine if existing transformer boxes and conduits are suitable for new wiring (see requirements in section B13) and remove if not suitable. 2. B./ INSTALLATION OF LUMEON 360 SYSTEM 1./ Determine the starting point for the installation. The starting point should be the same location as the mounting location of first power unit. ( Sample Dwg. 1) 2./ From the supplied layout drawing, determine length of first LUMEON 360 tube group. 3./ Using a chalk string and a level, mark a line where tube supports for LUMEON 360 tube will be installed. 3. 4. 4./ Mark the mounting position of all tube supports in the run. ( Pic. 1 ) Note: Tube supports must be installed no more than 3 inches from end of the LUMEON 360 tube. Maximum spacing between two neighboring tube supports should not exceed 24 inches. 5./ Mount all tube supports for the installed run. ( Pic. 2 and 3 ) 6./ Attach all LUMEON 360 tubes in the run to installed tube supports. ( Pic. 4) Note: If using standard neon tube supports, mounting method of the LUMEON 360 tube is the same as mounting method for neon glass tube. Note: If using LUMEON 360 tube suport clips, position the tube above the clip with flat area perpendicular to the mounted surface, insert tube into the clip and twist 90 degrees. Tube will lock in the clip. Note: Do not push the ends of LUMEON 360 tubes against each other. The PVC rubber end caps should not be compressed at any time. PVC rubber End caps will allow heat related length expansion of LUMEON 360 tubes. ( Pic. 5) 7./ Hold the two wires from the neighboring tubes as shown ( Pic. 6 ). Cut the wires approximately one inch from the tube support. 5. 8./ Insert both wire ends to connectors (supplied with each order). Note: Do not use standard wire nuts to connect the tubes. Doing so will void the warranty. Use only UL Waterproof wire nuts to connect the tubes. 9./ Repeat steps 7 and 8 for other tube wires. Continued on page 2 6. 7. 8. 9.

10. 11. 12. Note: High voltage primary wiring, including wiring within 120VAC junction box, should comply with any applicable grounding and bonding requirements in Article 600 of the 2005 National Electrical Code (NEC). B./ INSTALLATION OF LUMEON 360 SYSTEM (continued from page 1) 13. 10./ Fold the leads under the tube support and attach LUMEON 360 tube. ( Pic. 10 and 11) Note: If using LUMEON 360 tube support (mounting) clips, wires must be inserted to the rectangular grove in the clip. ( Pic. 12 ) 11./ Connect all neighboring LUMEON 360 tubes in this particular run. Note: Individual runs are marked on supplied layout drawing by different colors. Note: See chart below for proper loading of the LED Power Unit. ( Attach. 1) 12./ Insulate the end leads on last LUMEON 360 tube in installed run by inserting each wire end to a separate UL waterproof wire nut connector. ( Pic. 13 ) Note: Do not insert both wires to the same connector. Doing this will create a direct electrical short which will damage the system. 14. 13./ Mount the Power Unit near the beginning of the installed run. ( Pic. 14 ) Transformer may appear different than model shown depending on which model is specified for the installation. Note: Power units shall not be mounted closer than 4 inches side to side and 1 inch end to end. Note: Outdoor units are protected by a NEMA 3R rain tight enclosure. If mounted on exterior wall without an additional wet rated enclosure, ensure that the Power Unit is mounted vertically with conduit openings down. Use only power units rated for exterior use. ( Attach. 1) Note: It is required to use UL rated metallic or nonmetallic conduit between the junction box and the power unit enclosure. Follow your local, state and federal regulations for high voltage AC wiring. Note: Do not connect outputs of two Power Units in parallel or in series!!! 14./ Verify if a disconnect switch is present. National Electrical Code (NEC) requires a disconnect switch with all electrical signs. If a disconnect switch is not present, it must be installed between the main breaker and first power unit. 15./ Verify that all accessible dead metal in the system is grounded to the power supply ground connection. The metal base of a tube support does not need to be grounded. 16./ Connect the mounted power unit to the leads from first LUMEON 360 tube. Manufacturer recommends to use UL waterproof wire nut connectors (supplied with each order) to electrically connect 12 AWG power limited cable leads with 18 AWG leads on LUMEON 360 tube ( Pic. 16,(17). (continued on next page) NOTE: Do not use standard wire nut connectors. Doing so will void the warranty. Use only UL Waterproof wire nuts. Continued on page 3.

Continued from page 2. 16./ (continued) Connect the 12 AWG power limited cable leads with the Class 2 Transformer. The recommended triple-output transformer is equipped with output screw terminals for direct connection. If using the recommended single-output transformer, connect the output with the 12 AWG power limited cable with UL waterproof wire nuts. Note: Confirm that all breaker switches inside of Power Units are in the ON Position. Note: Follow primary voltage wiring instructions listed on the Power Unit lid for appropriate primary voltage used on installation site. Note: In interior applications, listed PLTC Class 2 rated cable is required for secondary wiring between Power Unit and LUMEON 360 tubes. If low voltage wiring is routed though walls, attic or other concealed space, the wiring must be enclosed in conduit or be rated for resistance to fire in accordance with Article 725 of the NEC. Listed QPTZ power limited cable has been evaluated for this application. Note: Type PLTC cable that is sunlight resistant does not require enclosure in conduit when used in concealed spaces and is also suitable where exposed to weather. Note: The maximum length of low voltage power cable is 50 feet. Use of any cable other than 10 or 12 AWG cable is not recommended and will void the product warranty. Note: Follow your local, state and federal regulations for low voltage wiring. Note: High voltage primary wiring, including wiring within 120VAC junction box, should comply with any applicable grounding and bonding requirements in Article 600 of the 2005 National Electrical Code (NEC). 17./ Repeat steps 2 to 16 for installation of each successive Lumeon 360 run. 18./ Test the sign by turning main power on. Note: Do not touch any metal parts while testing. Note: If Lumeon 360 system is not working, please contact Customer Support by calling 1-877-383-4032.
