Go to itstartshere.nbcc.ca to watch a video on how to do this. HOW TO INSTALL FS USB TRANSCRIPTION SOFTWARE (OFFICE ADMIN MEDICAL) These steps MUST be performed while at the college. Cannot be done from home. Last Updated: August 6, 2014 1 Open Windows/File Explorer 2 Click on the Computer tab at the top (Windows 8 users Windows 7 users skip to step 4.)
3 Click on the Map network drive icon on the toolbar. 4 Windows 7 users, see the graphic to the right: 5 Choose an un-used drive letter. Page 2
6 For the Folder, type: \\mo-srv-v-ps01.cc.loc\software Make sure you enter a backslash (\) and not a forward slash (/). Make sure there is a check mark next to Reconnect at sign-in 7 Click Finish 8 When prompted for your credentials, type your username like this: cc\1234567 and your password. Place a checkmark next to Remember my credentials. Page 3
9 A new window will open. Double click the Business folder 10 You should see these files and folders. (Note: You cannot run these files from this folder. You will need to copy them to your desktop.) 11 Select the two files with UAC in the filename. You can draw a box around the two files with your mouse that they both turn blue Page 4
12 Once they are both Blue, click and drag them over to your Desktop. 13 When you drop the files, you may get a warning. Click OK. 14 You should now have the two files with UAC in their names on your desktop. Double-click the file named DisableUAC Page 5
15 You will see a warning message. Read it and click OK 16 You should see this message. Click OK 17 You will likely be prompted to reboot your computer. Windows 8 users: Right click your Start button, go to Shut Down and then choose Restart. Windows 7 users: Click your Start button, click Shut Down and then turn the computer back on after it has shut off. Page 6
18 Once you ve rebooted, open Windows/File Explorer again. 19 You should have a new drive letter (A letter you chose in step 5). It should be called software (\\mo-srv-v-ps01.cc.loc) Double-click it. 20 Double click the Business folder. Page 7
21 Double-click the FS-USB PRO Transcription Software folder. 22 Double-click the Setup icon. 23 Click the Run button. Page 8
24 Click Install 25 Click Next 26 Click I agree and then Next. Page 9
27 Enter your name and Company (NBCC). Click Next 28 Click Next 29 Click Make shortcuts available to all users and Click Next Page 10
30 Click Next 31 When the install is complete, click Finish 32 You should now have a new icon on your desktop for FS USB PRO Transcription. Doubleclick it. Page 11
33 Click OK 34 Leave it set to 3-Pedal and Click OK. 35 Click OK. Page 12
36 Click OK 37 Click OK 38 You will likely see an error message. It is safe to ignore this and click OK. This error message will appear every time you close the software. Page 13
39 Double-click the icon named FS USB PRO Transcription again. 40 The software s main interface should appear. 41 When you close the software, you ll probably get the Error message. Page 14
42 You might want to enable UAC again (or else your Windows 8 Modern apps will not run and your computer will be more vulnerable to viruses). To do so, double-click the EnableUAC 43 Click Yes 44 Click OK Page 15
45 You ll need to reboot again. At this point you should be done. If you have issues, please read on. 46 If you have problems running the software, right click on the icon and go to Properties 47 Click on the Compatibility tab. Page 16
48 Place a check next to Run this program in compatibility mode for: and choose either Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP Try them all to see which one solves your issue. 49 You can also try rightclicking the icon and choosing Run as administrator If you have further issues, come see us at the Help Desk.
