SL Series Licensing Manual Version 1.1

Introduction This manual is intended to give an overview on how the licensing procedure operates on the SL series platform. Some of the system features require an appropriate license to be installed on the CPU in order to work. Each SL series CPU has a unique Hardware Key. Licenses can be assigned the hardware key code and downloaded from the LMS (License Management Server) and installed on the CPU. The License Management server is a web portal where users can logon and download a license that can be installed onto a CPU. The procedure involves entering the hardware key into the LMS and then assigning a license to the hardware key. You will require user name and password to access the LMS or the action of logging on to the LMS and generating the license may be carried out by your distributor on your behalf, please contact you distributor for details. Once the license file has been generated and downloaded, it can be installed onto a CPU card using Web Pro, PC Pro, using a compact flash card or entered manually on a keyset. 60 Day Trial The 60 Day Free License comes with the CPU. It allows for all the features to be active for 60 days. The countdown starts on the first power on and ends at midnight of the 60th day. By default, the 60 Day Free License is set to disabled. The 60 day count down starts when the system is initially powered on and continues if the 60 Day Free License is disabled or enabled. The clock counts down only when the power supply in the chassis is ON - battery is not in effect. If the CPU is removed, or the system is powered OFF, the countdown stops. Every time the clock is changed, the CPU free license (60 days) loses one hour. When you turn off the free license any registered licensed devices restart. For example IP Terminals, if you turn off the free license, any IP Terminals that are in use will restart. The 60 Day trial can be turned on and off in several ways, either in Wizards > Quick Install > 60 Day trial, when the box is checked the free license is enabled. The free license can also be turned on by enabling PRG command 90-55-01 in WebPro / TelePro. To view the number of remaining in the 60 day trial, look in Easy Edit Wizards > Quick Install > 60 Day trial or command 10-52-01.

Please check with your distributor which one of the two methods you should use, details of both are below: 1. You can be issued an account on the LMS that will allow you to logon and add your hardware key to the LMS. You can then assign license to the hardware key, download the license file that can be installed. If you are using this method follow the instructions below for Using the LMS. 2. A license file can be generated and sent to you by your distributor that can be installed on to the CPU. You will need to tell the distributor the hardware key of your CPU and follow any specific ordering procedures they may have. If you are using this method when you have received the license file from the distributor installed follow the Installing a License instructions.

Installing a license When a license has been downloaded from the LMS is has to be installed on to the SL1100 / 1000. It can be installed in 4 different ways, using PC Pro, Web Pro, Using a Compact Flash Card or using Tele Pro. Using PC Pro To install a license using PC Pro, you should first connect to the PBX, then from home ribbon bar, click the Feature Activation button. The feature activation window will be displayed. In the feature activation screen click load file, browse to the license file and click open

Web Pro will now install the license, at the top of the window, you see confirmation that the license has been installed and the list of registered will be updated. Confirmation message Using a Compact Flash Card If you are installing a license using a compact flash card, you will need a PZ-VM21 / VM DB daughter board installed on the CPU card. The system will need to be powered off before you plug the compact flash card into the PV-VM21. To install a license using a compact flash card, copy the license file that has been downloaded from the LMS to the root of the memory stick. Power off the PBX and insert the compact flash card containing the license file to the PZ-VM21 / VM DB and power the system back on. When the system boots up, in TelePro, enter command 10-49 and enter 1 to load the license. If the license is installed successfully then you will see Entry OK on the display of the handset. Before removing the compact flash card, power off the system. By Entering the Code Manually It is also possible to enter a license code manually in Telepro.
