New features Pontic Shape You now have more control over the cervical area of pontics: choose among 4 options to decide how the base of the pontic should be shaped in regard of the gingiva. It is first selected in the Order Creation, but can be changed with the design parameters in the Arch Scan station or with the Recompute function in the CAD station. Conical: It is the former way of calculating the base of pontics. It is slightly conical before the gingiva correction is trimmed. Sanitary: This one has a flat bottom surface and rounded corners. Saddle: This pontic straddles the gingiva. It sits esthetically on both sides. Modified Ridge Lap: It is cut before reaching the gingiva on lingual side and goes down over the gingiva on buccal side. Those types are available on Full, Reduced, Telescopic (Infix ) and 3/4 Pontics. Figure 1:Conical Figure 2:Sanitary Figure 3:Saddle Figure 4: Modified Ridge Lap pontic In the CAD station, you can change the pontic shape with the Recompute function. 1. Right-click on a pontic and select Recompute. 2. Click the Gingiva Correction tab. 3. (Use basal kit should be deactivated). 4. Choose the pontic shape 5. Select Enable Gingiva Correction 6. Set the spacer value between the anatomy and gingiva. This length is cleared at all time during the design operations. Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 2 / 14

Follow Order From Order Creation to Scan When the order is complete, click the Route and Follow This button: Routes forward the order, Opens the scan station, Opens the order so that you can continue working on the same case without having to look for it. From Scan to Design Before an order is being routed out of arch scan, this Confirm window opens. If you select the check box, the appropriate design station is opened and the case automatically displayed. From Design to Production When exiting the CAD station, a confirm window will include a check box to specify whether you want to follow the order: If you select this box, the Production Management station opens and the current case is automatically highlighted. Natural Connectors When selected, this option enables intersecting bridge components to bind the bridge together instead of adding regular connectors.the benefits of this feature are substantial for full contour bridges: you can simply use the shaping tools to edit the contact between anatomies. Figure 6: Connector parameters in Material Management Figure 5: Automatically applied between touching anatomies This feature can be enabled or disabled per material in the Material Management panel. 1. Open the Material Management station and select the material on which to allow natural connectors to be used instead of traditional connectors. 2. Unfold the Connector tab 3. Select Use Natural Connectors Once activated, it is automatically applied when relevant: in a design session, whenever components of a bridge are intersecting, the connector is removed; if the design does not provide contact between components, a connector is added to keep the bridge together. During the merge process upon exit, the contact areas are automatically smoothed and adjusted to respect the minimal area specification for the current material. Measuring tools Clinical handles When this check box is selected, a measuring tool is displayed to help you move the handles in a controlled way. Concentric circles of equivalent distances are displayed around the selected handle. Clip view You can now access a measuring tool while using the multi-designer. This is done in the Clip View that displays when using the Transform or Clinical Handles functions. 1. Make sure the Clip View is activated. 2. Activate the Measure tool in the options of the Clip View window. 3. Click and hold on the first point. Release when the tip of the cursor is on the second point. The distance between the 2 points is displayed. Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 5 / 14

Virtual Waxing tools presets Alternatively to setting the size and amplitude of the tools before each use, DWOS users can define their own presets for every waxing tool of the Add/Remove Material function. This is done in the User Preferences station. Figure 7: Define the presets in the Usere Preferences Figure 8: Select a preset in the Add/Remove materail dialog in the CAD station Waxing tools of the Add/Remove Material dialog Presets name. Create new sets with the button. Preset definition Back in the design station, a drop-down menu enables to activate a predefined set. Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 6 / 14

Transparency presets Define a default transparency level for each component of a case. Save the presets and activate them in the CAD station. 1. Click the Add button. 2. Name the preset. 3. Change the transparency of any element, using the slider. Figure 10: Select a presets in the Display Management of the CAD station Figure 9: Define the presets in the User Preferences Reduced scan time A software optimization for processing the surface meshing results in a significant reduction of the time needed to go through a scan session. DWOS 5.0 compared to DWOS 4.0: Scanning is up to 35% faster (calculated from the start of the scan to the resulting STL file). Data computation is 50% faster: you will save over 2 minutes on a full arch scan. Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 7 / 14

Order Creation improvements Material filtering by manufacturer You can click the filter icon to display only materials from the selected manufacturers. Implant kits filtering by manufacturer You can click the filter icon to display only implants from the selected manufacturers. Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 8 / 14

Scan station improvements Reload existing data in Scan station When a scan session is interrupted, the already scanned components are saved and can be reloaded when the scan session is relaunched. Figure 11: This Confirm window pops up upon drag and drop of an order that had some of its components already scanned. Insertion Axis of a bridge User preferences station > Preferences > Skip insertion axis until the last prosthesis in a bridge. When this option is selected, the insertion axis window will not pop- up until the last margin is designed when scanning a bridge. Once you define this axis, it will automatically apply to all components of the bridge. Figure 12: DWOS 5.0) Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 9 / 14

CAD improvements 3/4 Crown cut line templates In the 3/4 Crown or 3/4 Pontic Editor of the CAD station, you may now select from 3 templates to facilitate the cut line design. 1. Right-click on a 3/4 Crown or 3/4 Pontic. 2. Select 3/4 Crown or 3/4 Pontic from the contextual menu. 3. Select one of the 3 predefined Incrustation Type. Figure 13: Groove Figure 14: Middle Figure 15: Cusp line It is still possible to define a custom cut line by using the green dots: Move the dots by clicking and dragging them. Click and release a dot to delete it. Click on the line to add a dot. Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 10 / 14

Abutment parallel to insertion axis This option is now available in the clinical handles editor. When it is activated, the abutment outer shape will be parallel to the implant axis. Any deformation that you apply will be limited as to offer no undercuts on a crown that would be seated on the custom abutment. This option was formerly set in the Material Management station under Custom Abutment parameters, or with the Recompute function. By having this check box available within the CAD tools, you can change it at will, without having to recompute and loose the design operations that were made on the abutment. Figure 16: When the option is deselected, the design can diverge from the implant axis (green tunel). Figure 17: When the option is selected, the handles can not be moved in a position where it would create undercuts. Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 11 / 14

Implant bars rounded extensions By simply checking this box, the added extensions will present smooth rounded edges. The radius can be adjusted by pulling the green arrow. Figure 19: Bar extensions without the rounding Figure 21: Adjust the radius by pulling the green arrow Figure 20: Bar extensions with the rounding Figure 18: Right-click on a bar design and select this box in the Bar options window Import complementary files Loading additionnal STL (or.lbt) files in the CAD staiton as references to support your prosthesis design operations now includes Antagonist and Occlusion. Once they are loaded, you can right-click on them and choose Reposition to perform a 3-point repositioning on the model. Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 12 / 14

Separation lines on scans Separation line are no more visible between precise-scanned areas (adjacents) and model scan. The gap that used to be created is now automatically filled. Figure 22: Model scan with precise-scanned areas (before) Figure 23: Model scan with precise-scanned areas (in DWOS 5.0) Full Denture Gingiva proposition The automatic computing of the gingiva was improved to generate a more natural look. Merged export option An option is now available to export a manufacturing file for the base plate and teeth all together. Dental Wings inc. - DWOS LAVA Edition new features- Page 13 / 14
