Dear occupational therapist colleagues in Finland! Here is a chance to participate in two exciting Sensory Integration workshops in Denmark on occupational therapy assessment and intervention for children with Sensory Processing Disorder. Diana Henry, highly recognized American occupational therapist specializing in sensory integration / sensory processing, will come to Denmark and conduct two workshops from d. 1-4 th. of June 2015. Diana Henry is best known for Sensory Processing Measures, SPM for schoolchildren and SPM-P for preschoolers. With these tools, occupational therapists examine children's sensory processing and other important areas of their development across different home and school environments, as well as day care settings. You can choose to participate in one or both courses offered by the Danish Occupational Therapy Professional Society - Children and Youth, with or without accomodation at "Huset or Dansk Folkeferie cottages in Middelfart on the island of Funen (Fyn). Workshop I: 1 st. and 2 nd. of June 2015: June 1 st. 9: 30-16: 30 and d. June 2 nd. 9:00 to 16:00 Sensory Tool Kit Workshop: Contents in brief: An update of science and evidenced practice within the field of Sensory Integration / Sensory Processing. Sensory processing disorders seen in relation to the child's daily life and activity participation in home and school.

Ideas for activities, strategies and environmental adaptations that promote sensory processing in school and at home. Consultative occupational therapy to help facilitate mainstreaming of children with special needs in the school system. Cooperation between occupational therapist, parents and school staff. Possibilities using the playground environment for assessment, consultation and intervention. Includes : Diana Henry's compendium "Sensory Tools Chest". Includes daily: Welcome coffee / tea and bread Lunch buffet incl. 1 softdrink Cake and coffee/tea in the afternoon Course fee: Kr. 2. 500 Danish kr.

Workshop II: 3 rd. and 4 th. of June 2015: June 3 rd. 9: 30-16:30 and June 4 th. 9:00 to 16:00 The assessment tools SPM and SPM-P and Quick Tips: Participants will learn how to use these standardized tests for children. SPM (schoolchildren 5-12 years) and SPM - P (preschool children 2-5 years). Examples of content: For which children are these tools appropriate and useful for? How are these tools different from Sensory Profile by Winnie Dunn? Administration of the questionaires, scoring and interpretation. For practice participants fill out SPM questionaire with a certain known child in mind. Interpretation of SPM / SPM-P through cases. Clinical reasoning. Quick Tips: Quick Tips is a manual and a tool for intervention. Based on the results of SPM findings, Quick Tips can be used as an

intervention guideline with lots of categorized ideas and strategies catering to the needs of the individual child. Quick Tips can be purchased through WPS for 50 as PDF file. It has not yet been translated into Danish. Introduction of Diana Henry, MS, OTR / L, FAOTA President of Henry Occupational Therapy Services, Inc., studied with Lorna Jean King beginning in 1975, and then together founded what is now called the Children's Center in Arizona. Diana opened her clinic specializing in sensory integration (SI) in 1984 and developed programs for various Arizona schools. Diana is SCSIT and SIPT certified. She received her B.S. in OT from Tufts University, and her M.S. in sensory integration from Rush University. Diana has taught at Arizona State University, nationally to school districts, associations/clinics and internationally in Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Brazil, Scotland, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. Diana produced the Tools for Teachers TM and the Tools for Students TM DVDs and together with her husband, Rick, she developed the Tool Chest Starter Kit TM, wrote the Tool Chest TM, the Tools for Parents TM, and the SI Tools for Teens TM handbooks. She has completed the Sensory Tools for Pets: Animals and People Helping Each OtherTM and the Tools for Tots: Sensory Strategies for Todlers and PreschoolersTM books, produced the Teens Sensory Tools TM DVD and Sensory Songs for TotsTM music CD. Diana is presently working on Tools for InfantsTM book. In 2008, Diana and her colleagues were awarded the American Occupational Therapy Recognition of Achievement Award for developing The Sensory Processing Measure (SPM). In February 2000, Diana and her husband Rick embarked on ATEACHABOUT. Their 'sensory' workshops, individualized for specific communities, are available for administrators, educators, school psychologists, physicians, other health professionals, OTs, PTs, SLPs, parents and caregivers.
