2 An Invitation The Rural and Remote Mental Health (RRMH) Conference Committee invites you to participate in the Conference to be held in October We ask you to share your stories, lessons learnt, projects & research as an oral or poster presentation. We invite you to be part of this program that will inform future service delivery. The theme for the 2015 Conference, Shining the Light on Rural Mental Health, will highlight the challenges faced daily by the collaborative group of professionals involved in the care of Mental Health Consumers and will highlight the creative ways in which regional health workers develop health care approaches, network with local services and non-profit organisations, and share knowledge and expertise with the community to maximise health outcomes for the Consumers. The conference will include keynote speakers, concurrent sessions and a poster display which will directly shine a light on the creativity and innovation of rural and remote communities in addressing mental health needs. If you wish to submit an abstract for consideration by the Program Committee, you must also intend to register for the Conference. The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation or registration costs associated with the Conference. Similarly, no presenter fee is paid to successful participants.

3 Presentation Format There are three types of presentation formats. Symposium Presentation Combined submission of 4 6 individual presentations submitted by one author on behalf of the group and under one common theme. The standard time allocated per symposium is 90 minutes; session time will be confirmed in the acceptance letters. Oral Presentation Oral Presentations will be notified of their length of presentation time in the acceptance letters. Abstracts not selected for Oral Presentation may be eligible for a Poster Presentation. Poster Presentation A poster presentation constitutes a visual display of research projects. Your poster must not extend beyond the boundaries of your display board one display board will be allocated per poster. The poster display will be an integral part of the program with dedicated times for delegates to interact with poster authors and ask questions. Full details of the format and display of Posters will be detailed within acceptance notifications sent to nominated presenting authors. Authors will be required to indicate their preferred presentation format when submitting an abstract.

4 Themes The Rural and Remote Mental Health Conference 2015 is seeking abstracts relevant to the following themes. We would like potential presenters to consider the conference theme when submitting an abstract. The conference sessions will be streamed to reflect each component of the overall theme. Mood and anxiety disorders Psychotic disorders Substance abuse and misuse Child mental health Youth mental health Old age psychiatry Epidemiology and public health Service delivery and health outcomes Early intervention Trauma Women s mental health Neuroimaging, cognition, neurophysiology Neuropsychology of Mental Disorder Biological underpinnings of mental disorders Treatment innovations Psychological interventions Biological interventions Research translation Mental Health Policy Modelling of course of disease and treatment response Recovery, regeneration and functional recovery Neuropsychiatry Mental Health Neuroscience Other Key Dates Call for Abstracts open 16 January 2015 Call for Abstracts closes 13 February 2015 Authors notified of outcome of submission 28 February 2015 (accepted, declined, waitlisted) Successful authors confirm acceptance and participation in conference and provide 200 word biography Authors of abstracts submitted for poster presentation only will be notified once their abstract has been reviewed.

6 Preparing your abstract: The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation for potential inclusion into the program. No acknowledgements, figures or references should be included. Include the names of all co-authors plus affiliations (500 words maximum). An editorial panel will review all abstracts. Criteria considered by the panel will be: Clarity of the abstract Relevance to the conference themes Interest to a multi-disciplinary audience Contribution to health care knowledge Originality and innovation Acceptance of abstracts is at the discretion of the editorial panel. A condition of acceptance is that at least one author is registered to attend the conference for at least the day of their presentation. Presenters are offered a discount on the registration fee. If you are a first time presenter and need assistance preparing your abstract, please contact our conference manager who can pass you on to the program committee. Guidelines for Submission of Abstracts Abstracts should be typed in a Word document. Title: 12 PT BOLD CAPITALS Authors: List authors alphabetically, with the Presenters Name underlined Text body: 11 point and single spaced 500 words maximum Margins: A4 page 25mm all around Spacing: One line between the title and authors, and one line between the authors and text. One of the four presentation categories should be nominated Abstracts must be original compositions Abstracts must be submitted in English Submission of abstracts to be sent via as a Word document attachment to event@peppermint.com.au Full mailing address of contact person and address if available at the bottom of the abstract. Please note the details provided as the author contact should be for the nominated main contact for your abstract. All correspondence relating to the submission will be directed to this person, and they should in turn distribute to all co-presenters.
