1. Overview of the Android softphone app Android App Installation The Android Softphone App is the extension of the Opera system to your Android smart phone giving you Fixed Mobile Convergence with Hold and Transfer of calls and presence information for colleagues. Enjoy all the benefits of the Opera PBX from your smartphone. Single number for both fixed and mobile devices. Incoming calls to your fixed desk phone are automatically routed to your smart phone. Dial from your smartphone contacts list or the PBX phone book. All outgoing calls from your smart phone App use your fixed Calling Line Identity number on the Opera system. See the status of colleagues in real time. Busy on mobile device status is indicated to other users. Call history - missed calls, received calls, dialled calls. Manage your voicemails. The PBX may be programmed to send all your app calls over IP or to the GSM network when you are off site and over Wifi on your LAN. Flip during a call from VoIP to GSM service or the other way, depending on signal quality For a detailed user instructions on the system phone functionality of the app, please refer to the Operafone Executive system phone manual at http://www.mdsgateways.com/manuals_opera240.html For instructions on browser based function key programming, please refer to the browser based user programming and call handling guide at same address. 2. System manager programming of the PBX for the Smart phone apps The use of the Android Smartphone App requires a licence on the Opera control unit. This licence must be purchased from your Opera system supplier and can be installed remotely by your supplier on the Opera system. Alternatively, you may receive the licence key from your supplier and install it manually. DM 1072 Page 6
2.1. Install registration licences on the System To install the licence key manually, connect to the browser programming interface of the Opera by typing the IP address of the system (LAN default 192.168.1.250). Click on System Licences, on the main page, under System Settings. Paste the licence key into the first free position in the table on the System Licences page and press SAVE. The system must now be re-started in order to implement the licence changes. You can do this by going to the System Maintenance page and pressing the Restart System button. This will cause any calls in progress to be cleared and therefore should only be done when the system is not busy. DM 1072 Page 7
2.2. Allocate softphone licences to system users When the system has re-started fully, allocate the new licences to individual users. Connect to the main configuration page as described above and click on the link IP Phone Licensing under User Settings. On the IP Phone Licensing page, click on the link Softphones in the top right hand corner to display the following page: The number of Android Softphone licenses available is indicated at the top of the column. You can allocate an Android softphone license to a user by ticking the box in this column opposite the username and pressing SAVE. If the user you seek is not on this page, you may display additional users by clicking on the page links at the bottom right hand corner of this page. DM 1072 Page 8
2.3. Manual port forwarding, if the modem router at the system site does not support UPnP In order to use the app off-site, outside the range of the Local Area Network (LAN), the app must be able to register with the system across the company modem router firewall. If the SIP ports of the modem router are not open by default and if the modem router does not support UPnP, the appropriate WAN ports on the modem router Gateway must be forwarded manually by accessing the modem router Gateway browser programming. UDP packets, typically on WAN ports 50000 to 50479 of the Gateway, should be forwarded to the local IP address of the PBX system, in the case of the Opera 240 (ports 50000 to 50031 in the case of the Opera 20 IP). TCP packets on port 5075 and packets on browser port 7000 on the Gateway should also be forwarded to the system port 80. It may well be necessary to lower the level of Firewall protection on the modem router. DM 1072 Page 9
2.4. Program the voice path, GSM or VoiP The system can be programmed to set up the voice path for calls to and from the app using either the GSM network or the VoIP network. The IP data network (e.g. 3G or WiFi) is always used by the app for call control and management. The system manager programs GSM or VoIP for the voice path for each user, on the Fixed Mobile Service page. The GSM numbers of the users handsets must be entered on this page in the GSM Number column to allow calls via the app to use the GSM network. For GSM voice path calls on the app, the app sends a call request to the system. The system responds by dialling out the app on GSM. In the case of Android, the app will autoanswer, provided the user has ticked the Autoanswer option in the advanced settings menu on the smartphone app. Once answered, the voice path is GSM. All call control, via the keys on the app, is over IP. DM 1072 Page 10
2.5. Note the user s IP registration name and PIN The Android softphone App can now be registered on the Opera system using the user s IP registration name and registration PIN. These can be found on the IP Phone Registration page under User Settings. The Opera system is now ready to register the Android softphone App. DM 1072 Page 11

The local LAN IP address of the system is entered at primary IP address field. Press OK. The public WAN IP address of the system is entered at the secondary IP address field. This will facilitate registration to the system from outside the local WiFi range. Please note that using the app while roaming, for example over 3G, may render you liable for considerable costs by your mobile operator, depending on your data plan and your contract with your operator. Enter the User IP registration name and User IP Registration PIN, as they appear on the system IP Phone Registration browser programming page, under User Settings. In the field Registration Name, enter your IP Registration Name followed by the suffix.android as shown. The suffix allows the Opera system to associate this registration with your Android device. (Note: you should also add the suffix. desk to the registration name in your desk phone. This can be done by pressing and holding the menu key for 5 seconds and entering the suffix after the registration name in Registration Info ). DM 1072 Page 13
The Port number refers to the signalling port used for registering with the Opera system and is set to 5075 by default. DM 1072 Page 14
