Automotive industry in the Slovak Republic 1. Before 1974 - Slovakia as part of Czechoslovakia, focused on heavy engineering (mainly production for the needs of the army), strong position of suppliers for the OEMs in the Czech Rep., 2. 1975 1989 first two plants for the finalization of PCs and LCVs (BAZ and TAZ) were built, 3. 1989 1994 - political and economic change, arrival of the first foreign investor - Volkswagen AG, 4. 1994 2002 - development of mass production at a high level, the arrival of global suppliers, 5. Year 2002 VW SK got of a Touareg project, a significant increase in the number of suppliers, 6. 2002 2005 - the arrival of two new car manufacturers Peugeot Citroen and Kia Motors, 7. 2005 2011 - a gradual increase in car production almost by 300%, development of suppliers, 8. Year 2012 - new Volkswagen New Small Family cars production and efforts to strengthen productivity of other OEMs increased year on year production of Slovakia by 44.9% in 2012. The necessity of reforms in the education system Demand for employees to ensure the development in horizon of 5 years 320 000 of which 75% for the rehabilitation of those who retire the other 25% to secure economic growth The demand for employees with university education is 31%, with secondary education 69% (ie 220 800 with secondary education) (44,100 secondary educated workers per year). From this number, 75% is needed for the annual reproduction (ie 33 120)
