And by doing this we are making sure that we re not conflicting business with the retail stores. We want to ensure that we are targeting the builders market, the trade and their clients. Another purpose of our showroom is to give customers and their clients a superior experience; It s one-on-one. They re not jostling to find a salesperson on the floor; they ve got an allotment of time which we find is appreciated by the customer, said Pound. His description of a typical customer experience in their showroom creates a very relaxed and pleasant feeling they ve got the salesperson s full attention the entire time. Well-known Brands and Relationships Unlike many competitors in the market, Harvey Norman does not manufacture or import their own product, rather their direction is to support well-know market-leading brands. Presales and after-sales servicing are also very important ingredients. Pound adds that the company s focus on relationships extends even further to include their suppliers. Once again, many of those partnerships go back many years. And because the Harvey Norman business is built around offering well-known, market-leading brands, they value their relationships with those brands very highly. It s our staff, our customers, our suppliers and our owners that contribute to the success of the business, Gavin says. We all work together, and we help each other grow. It was a huge surprise for us to win and we re very honored, says Gavin. We were nominated by current MBA members. There is a list of criteria that has to be met. In our case, it focused on service, delivery, customer service, product range, and pricing, including contribution to the industry as a whole. And certainly the reason I feel we won that award was the group of people we have. There are a number of people that have been here for some years, both with Harvey Norman Group and ACT. That certainly helps to provide a very good culture, that s something we do very well, and that translates into good customer service. Our people are a very important ingredient to the success of our business here.
