Post on wall for use in reading & writing groups. Begin sight words. Lean 3 new words per week. Writing: Practice writing first and last names using correct upper case, lower case and spacing. Write numerals 1 20 in correct numerical order. Begin guided writing lessons in small and large groups. Begin writing in HWT workbooks. Writing: Continue working in HWT workbooks. Build knowledge with Teacher created sentence corrections in large group. Practice writing numerals 1 50 in sequential order. Review and practice writing a single sentence using sight words with correct caps, lower case, spacing, & punctuation. Practice in journals with describing pictures drawn. Write names of classmates using correct caps, lower case, & spacing. Math: Increase rote counting to 100 + (play How Far Can You Go?), count by 1 s, 10 s and introduce by 5 s. Identify missing numbers in number chart in sequential order. Review one to one correspondence and matching number words with pictures & numerals. Review addition to sums of but not limited to 10+. Introduce Fractions ~ 1, ½, 1/3, ¼. Continue to practice utilizing Saxon Math, math workbooks, & independent works. Geometry: Polygons Technology Lab: Daily use of Alpha Smarts, tablets, & computers. Art: Leonardo Da Vinci Science: Solar System Geography: South America French: Month (November), Days of the week, counting to 31 +, colors, greetings and salutations. Yoga: Tree, volcano, seated twist, laying down twist.

December: Reading/Language: Small reading groups, learn 3 new sight words per week, Review ALL Sight Words, & use in sentences. Continue building knowledge with Spalding Sounds ~ Begin 2 letter phonemes & identifying sight words in Big Books. Review all concepts from the beginning of the year. Introduce re-tell of a story (Beginning, middle, & end). Writing: Continue working in HWT workbooks. Practice/Review with teacher created sentence corrections in large group. Expand writing numerals 1 75+. Review Caps, lower case, spacing, & punctuation (period, question mark, exclamation mark and when to use a comma in dates). Expand cut apart sentences in small writing groups to include listing and comma usage. Begin writing number words one ten. Math: Continue with Saxon math skills & workbooks. Review all concepts learned throughout the year. Expand addition concepts to sums up to but not limited to 20+. Review counting to 100 by 1 s, 10 s, & 5 s. Play addition bingo. Review fractions, sequencing, one to one correspondence, and number recognition to 100. Technology lab: Continue to build typing skills using Alpha Smarts, tablets, and computers. Continue to build cut apart sentences and take home for practice. Writing: Write class stories developed by class, modeled and written by teacher on chart paper. Using word webbing and story building processes. Journal writing in small groups using pictures and words to describe student drawings. Practice as large group correcting spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar on teacher created letters to students. Begin putting all learned concepts together to form individualized writing projects. Math: Increase addition/subtraction skills to sums larger than 20+. Review using number lines and manipulatives to add and subtract. Continue to expand knowledge of money. Identify and assign values to coins. Increase knowledge of Saxon Math concepts to prepare for Kindergarten. Revisit fractions ~ 1 whole, ½, 1/3, ¼, numerator, denominator. Introduce Time! Hour and half hour, clock concepts, 5 minute intervals, 60 minutes = 1 hour, 30 minutes = ½ hour. Geometry: Solids Technology: Practice all concepts and skills learned throughout the year! Master 10 Spelling words. Continue practice spelling tests on paper. Continue small reading groups. All reading and language assessments complete for the year! Writing: Introduce ABC order. Practice all skills learned throughout the year. Work in HWT workbooks at own pace. Review using teacher created letters to students with much needed corrections ie: capitalizations, spelling, punctuation, & grammar. Create a closing story by the entire class taking turns writing sentences on chart paper using correct formation. Use word webbing and story building skills to complete project. Journal writing in small groups. Math: Review all Saxon Math concepts learned throughout the year. Work in math workbooks at own pace. Continue to work with money. Begin to assign values to objects and practice purchasing with the correct amounts needed ie: ice cream cone =.25. Complete review of all skills learned throughout the year. Fine tune numeral recognition, counting to 100, simple addition and subtraction, telling time, fractions, and one to one recognition. Write your numbers as far as you can go!!!! Geometry: Review and practice with all learned throughout the year. Technology: Have fun with Technology!!! Art: Rockwell Geography: Australia Science: Life Cycles of Plants and Animals French: Month (May), days, counting, colors, family members, greetings & salutations, simple phrases.
