Contents 2 Australia 16 China 28 Hong Kong 34 India 42 Indonesia 50 Malaysia 60 New Zealand 68 Singapore Kelly Professional and Technical An integral component of Kelly Services recruitment solution suite, our Professional and Technical businesses collectively focus on building best in class networks, in order to provide our customers with niche talent and knowledge workers at mid to senior career levels. Whilst operating across 8 countries within the APAC geography, specialisation is at the core of our approach allowing us to provide our customers and candidates alike with accurate and relevant recruitment solutions. Our specialist capabilities differ from country to country, to reflect local market landscapes but include accountancy, banking and finance, engineering, science and technology, and corporate functions. This dedicated practice focus, coupled with formidable resources and infrastructure built by Kelly Services, offers our customers the best of both worlds a company with specific knowledge and expertise, backed by a respected industry leader that has been staffing the world for more than 60 years. foreword The aggressive expansion of global companies looking to access BRICS*, ASEAN and Australasian markets with their wealth of resources, consumers and technological knowhow has placed the knowledge of how to source, attract, retain and develop talent firmly at the top of corporate boardrooms agendas. The APAC region is home to more than 4.2 billion people, over half the world s population, with China and India alone accounting for almost 40% of this figure. People and potential labour pools are in abundant supply, in principle, but this availability of labour contrasts sharply with the availability of what we have come to term as talent. These experienced professionals with niche knowledge, specialist skill sets and leadership capability continue to be highly sought after across all industry categories and role functionalities across the region. Continued strong demand for talent drove employee turnover rates up to an estimated 14.1% across APAC during 2011. Whilst there is a slight softening in demand from previous year, 2012 is showing that there is still profound competition in all countries for knowledge workers. Talent scarcity in specialist areas of Engineering, Accountancy, Technology and Financial Services, has heightened in the light of a continual overall downward trend in unemployment rates, which are anticipated to approach 7% by 2013. Other factors that enter the mix include a spate of tragic natural disasters in 2011 precipitating mammoth post disaster reconstruction plans, which are expected to boost investment spending in 2012 and beyond. Our expectation however is that this may be offset by more moderate private sector hiring, particularly in countries with high exposure to export demand. Hiring is still expected to grow despite the new challenges emerging in 2012, with inflation edging up and capacity shortages starting to limit expansion. This growth will exacerbate wage pressures in all countries and employers should expect to increase employee pay rates or find other creative solutions in response to these talent dynamics, if they are serious about attracting and retaining critical skill sets within their organisations. Therefore we expect to see the APAC labour markets hold a steady upward trajectory as we progress through 2012. This may not be as steep as previous years but the region will continue to lead the world s economic growth. Against this backdrop APAC professionals with niche skills, critical knowledge and evolved leadership credentials can expect to see more than modest salary increases across the region, particularly in the more developing economies, where employers must hike salaries to keep pace with inflation and to attract and keep hold of their talent. This will continue to place enormous pressure on employers from a cost and people retention perspective. * The international political organisation of leading emerging economies, Brazil, Russia, India and China now includes South Africa into the BRIC group in 2010.

australia NATIONAL OVERVIEW In spite of a growing local economy, the willingness of Australian businesses to build capacity continues to be dampened by instability and economic volatility in Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. Accounting and Finance The impact of the international debt crisis has directly impacted the accounting and finance sector, with the entire sector being cautious. Jobs continue to be shed as companies consolidate, move backoffice processes offshore to drive down costs and simply downsize. This trend will continue until the middle of this year when it is expected to stabilise. Early 2012 has seen resurgence in mid to long term contract engagements in lieu of permanent hiring activity. Banking and Financial Services Banks, in particular, are shredding numbers from their finance and IT departments with the back office being worst hit. There are some bright points however. Demand for roles with experience in risk and compliance is growing in response to tightening governance rules and regulations. There is still strong hiring activity in areas such as credit, wealth management, financial planning, private and corporate banking. Some areas of corporate finance remain steady and, although not hiring as aggressively as last year, they continue to offer opportunities to the right level of candidates. In 2012, the career focal point for experienced bankers will shift dramatically from Europe and the Americas to the Asia Pacific region. Information Technology The IT industry has stabilised with more job openings available for skilled candidates in 2012. Roles that are increasingly in demand include application testing, storage and data centre management. Banks continue to create much of the demand for IT roles even though they are moving many development projects offsite. This is largely because much of the strategy, architecture, maintenance and program development work remains in Australia. 2 kellyservices.com.au Figures are in AUD and represent base salary only 3 Australia

Engineering Mining sector As the Australian mining industry continues to boom, employers are looking for people who have core engineering skills as well as on-site mining experience. There is ongoing strong demand for workers right across every part of the mining sector, from blue collar through to senior management. Finding qualified employees to meet this demand will remain a challenge for the mining sector for the foreseeable future. Civil engineering and infrastructure sector Increasing population growth in Australian capitals and satellite cities is putting extra pressure on public infrastructure such as rail links, roads, health and education. Funding these basic public services will remain a key priority for government, which will underpin steady job growth in this sector. Construction sector The construction jobs market has steadily declined post Australian Government stimulus packages. The commercial fit out and refurbishment sub sector is particularly struggling and it is not uncommon to find businesses that employed 30 staff two years ago to have cut back to less than ten. Employers are now relying on contractors to meet short-term peaks in work. This is expected to continue at least for the first half of 2012. Architecture There is an emerging skills gap in this sector with many experienced architects not trained to use REVIT, the dominant 3D modelling and design software. As a result, graduates with a high degree of skill in this and similar software, are being increasingly sought after. Mechanical & Electrical While the high Australian dollar and resulting decrease in exports in the high tech manufacturing industry has led to an uncertain start, the overall skill shortage in M&E means that this sector will continue to be relatively buoyant for 2012. Industries associated with the mining and resources boom will continue to grow rapidly during the year. Scientific A significant shift toward the use of temporary and contract staff has been one of the standout changes to the scientific industry over the past twelve months as funding sources become less reliable. Demand for temporary or contract staff continues to climb across all industries, particularly the chemical, pharmaceutical and food/beverage manufacturing sectors. Hiring levels for permanent staff have remained relatively stable throughout 2011. However there are marked differences state by state. A significant demand gap has opened up between Western Australia/South Australia and the Eastern states. Most notable is the slight decline for permanent positions in Victoria throughout 2011. 4 kellyservices.com.au Figures are in AUD and represent base salary only 5 Australia

China NATIONAL OVERVIEW Although the China recruitment outlook is positive, there is an overall slowdown from last year. The National Peoples Congress (NPC) has set a 7.5% growth target and highlighted seven Strategic Emerging Industries where we expect to see an upswing in recruitment over the coming year, namely: Clean Energy, Next Generation IT, Biotech, High End Equipment Manufacturing, Alternative Energy and New Energy Vehicles. 2012 sees both domestic and multinational companies in competition for the best talent. General Industrial & Manufacturing We see weakening in hiring in this segment, with many companies being cautious about their hiring plans in the second quarter. Demand for sales talent is now increasing compared to marketing roles particularly at junior level. Senior technical roles are hot this year with Chinese companies increasingly trying to attract more multinational talent. The government extension of policies on rebates on electronics and appliances should continue to support increased sales, resulting in more companies establishing manufacturing inland in Central and Western China. The NPC has prioritised green industries including wind and solar power, high-end manufacturing and aerospace manufacturing as strategic emerging industries, so we can expect strong demand in 2012 to support this growth. Automotive The automotive segment continues to grow, but much more slowly than 2011. The luxury vehicle market is expected to decline this year whilst the budget segment will become increasingly competitive. JV companies are producing vehicles to sell under local Chinese brands which compete with domestic manufacturers. New MNC automotive parts companies are establishing plants in tier two cities like Chengdu, with increased hiring uptake expected this year end into 2013. Tier 1 Cities*: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou 16 kellyservices.cn Tier 2 Cities*: Provincial capital cities and thriving cities such as Tianjin, Suzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, etc Figures are in CNY and represent base salary only 17 China

Chemical Despite some dampening in the last half of 2011, we are seeing continued investment since the New Year hiring strategy reviews, hence growth remains stable. Strategic and project roles are in demand in this sector and supply chain, R&D, strategic marketing and sales roles remain highly sought after. Chemical firms are trying hard to retain rather than merely recruit and save on hiring spend but key specialist skill sets and niche knowledge in the sector will still be targeted. Healthcare and Life Science Hospital reforms and increased insurance and medical services will provide a challenging environment as the local pharmaceutical and medical device sectors grow and prices are expected to drop. Biotechnology is also one of the NPC s key focus sectors and is expected to continue to recruit aggressively this year. Banking and Financial Services The global economic uncertainty and ensuing controls have driven down overall recruitment, especially in foreign firms, however some job profiles are experiencing an upturn, including risk functions which are in demand from both local and MNC banks. Chinese banks face capital stress after the Basel III launch in China and banks need to be more stringent to meet these requirements which in turn will create competition for talent. Consumer Recruitment in the retail and the luxury sectors continues to accelerate in China in 2012. The overall trend is encouraging with store operations, and sales and marketing roles being most in demand. A burgeoning middle class coupled with enhanced spending capability, particularly in the luxury goods sector, have created high levels of demand for talented sales professionals with strong contact networks and a track record of excellence in business development. Information Technology IT recruitment is experiencing particularly strong growth with increasing numbers of MNCs relocating their R&D centres taking advantage of China s relatively lower labour cost and skilled local talent. Roles which are in demand this year include first line developers, testers, architects, project managers and also strategic and management level roles. Next Generation IT jobs will be in demand as the sector becomes further developed and its potential explored. Despite dampening demand in some sectors, in relative terms, China will still see overall strong growth and will continue to have to develop and attract both domestic and international specialist knowledge foreseeably. hong kong The hesitation of new hiring is reflected more in the financial industry and companies within the B2B sectors. However, the war for talent remains strong in the retail sector. Overall, unlike the pre-global financial crisis, companies in general are not offering mega compensation packages to attract, which makes the talent attraction challenging for employers. NATIONAL OVERVIEW The return of market confidence in 2010 has helped to stir up the local job market in the past two years. However the concerns brought by the Euro zone crisis have given employers second thoughts at the start of 2012, about engaging in new hiring. Companies are elongating the decision making processes and choosing to defer new hiring to later parts of the year as they watch to see the true extent of the crisis and its impact on the global economy. Banking & Financial Services With financial instability sweeping the world, international banks are the worst hit in the local job market. However, mainland Chinese financial institutions remain as the driving engine in expansion. With new branches opening in the territory, relationship managers with proven track records are in high demand. Unlike a few years ago, more banking professionals are now creating new career horizons with Chinese banks. Despite this global turbulence some financial services disciplines still remain robust and we expect to see buoyancy in insurance, wealth management and private banking segments creating opportunities across the sales and marketing disciplines. The tightening of regulatory requirements will also see a need for compliance professionals with both external and internal audit skills. Hong Kong is still largely seen as the Asian trading hub, where there is a need for a variety of trade support roles and client services disciplines. 28 kellyservices.com.hk Figures are in HKD and represent base salary only 29 Hong kong

Information Technology The rapid rate of technological change and greater demands in bottom line cost savings continues to push businesses to place a huge focus on IT enablement. As such the market for IT developers with strong industry and domain knowledge prevails. Despite the 2011 crisis where many projects in the banking and financial services sector were put on hold, skilled IT professionals with two to five years experience are still in high demand within the Hong Kong market. The substantial reduction in student enrolment taking up IT in local universities in recent years has created a shortage of homegrown IT professionals in the market. This has in turn created wage pressures for companies looking to engage mid career IT talent. Another noticeable trend is the resurgence in the use of contract IT professionals as an alternative to address the ad-hoc requirements as well as to minimize the FTE growth. UNIX and network administration being areas of high deployment of this labour type. 30 kellyservices.com.hk Figures are in HKD and represent base salary only 31 Hong kong

INdonesia mezzanine finance. Volume of lending continues to increase in 2012 with loans to SMEs being a core driver of growth. This is creating a need for experienced talent across the whole middle and back office within this sector NATIONAL OVERVIEW Interest in the archipelago has led to many new companies investing and expanding their footprint in Indonesia. This growth focus has created challenges in talent management across most industries specifically how to recruit, retain and develop talent in a country anecdotally labelled as the missing BRIC. banking and Financial Services The banking sector has both broadened and deepened and interest rates continue to sink. These factors have combined to boost the already growing demand for financial services, from microcredit to Consumer Goods The FMCG industry is expected to have double digit growth this year. As the FMCG market in Indonesia is becoming more appealing, more foreign direct investment is finding its way to the country. It is clear that more products will be produced and pushed to market which is creating demand for marketing and sales professionals, coupled with a need for technical skill sets across manufacturing and supply chain management. This has a relational impact on companies servicing this sector. Information Technology Improvements in Indonesia s telecoms and ICT infrastructure are expected to drive long-term growth in the Indonesian IT services market. Commercial data centres are being built, linked to growing rollout by public sector and commercial organisations of e-government or e-commerce services. However, most opportunities are still in fundamental service areas such as system integration, support systems, training, professional services, and outsourcing and internet services, with demand for a mixture of employment types, from permanent through to contract and temporary professionals. 42 kellyservices.co.id Figures are in IDR and represent 13 months annual salary 43 INdonesia

Telecommunications The growth of the telecommunications industry this year is estimated to range between 8% to 9%. The main driving force being competition by five major carriers of the 10 operators who hold an estimated 90% market share of the telecommunication industry in Indonesia. The telecommunication industry still requires a lot of specialised talent due to strong growth in line with the expansion hence skill sets such as RF Engineers and other technical services will continue to be highly prized. Pharmaceutical The Indonesian pharmaceutical market is projected to grow at a high single-digit CAGR in US dollar terms during the forecast period, and it will be the sixth largest pharmaceutical market in the Asia Pacific region by 2016. In 2010, there were around 250 pharmaceutical manufacturers, with the vast majority located in Java. Despite the country possessing huge manufacturing capabilities, the lack of R&D within local companies could affect the market, especially if IPR regulations are tightened, requiring all drugs to be originated in Indonesia. Potentially this is bad news for multinational companies but it could potentially reduce costs in the long term for both the manufacturer and the consumer. Resultantly the need for R&D talent will surge as well as that for specialist chemical manufacturing expertise. Energy Energy consumption in Indonesia has been increasing rapidly, to meet the growing demands among various sectors, in particular the transportation and manufacturing sector, who boast the highest consumption levels of all industries. Coal production is set to surge in 2012 as coal miners bolster their businesses and several new mines commence production. Indonesia s production of thermal and coking coal is forecast to hit 380 million tons in 2012, up 5.5% on this year s estimate, which will create demand for all level of mining engineers, health and safety and environmental specialists Overall Indonesia can look forward to robust growth across all their major markets. The challenge will be the need for highly skilled talent as its position on the global economic stage is realised. 44 kellyservices.co.id Figures are in IDR and represent 13 months annual salary 45 INdonesia

Malaysia NATIONAL OVERVIEW The Malaysian economy is projected to grow by 4% to 5% this year, with domestic demand remaining the anchor of growth, as it has been over the past few years despite the global environment remaining challenging. The growth for 2012 will moderate to between 4% and 5% after expanding by 5.1% last year but the steady pace of growth will largely depend on external developments. Regardless, talent scarcity remains an issue the economy has to contend with. Malaysia s aspiration is to advance towards becoming a high-income, high value-added economy in the next decade, with growth that is underpinned by greater innovation, productivity and enhanced efficiency. Key initiatives to address this area are in the areas of human capital development, developing a conducive and competitive business environment and establishing the required physical infrastructure for a modern economy. Accounting and Finance The increasing trend of Malaysian corporations venturing abroad to leverage on joint partnership and expansion of business globally has resulted in fundamental measures to support the presence of domestic businesses globally. Given the importance of having appropriate risk management practices to the financial health of companies, middle to senior levels of auditors, accountants, and credit managers are in continually sought after. There is also a continued demand for business partners who can value add in terms of providing sound business advice and acumen due to stricter internal controls via expense management and push for profitability. Banking and Financial Services The development of talent for the financial sector continues to present considerable challenges for the industry as demand continues to exceed supply. In the medium to longer term, this can increase pressure on wages, and could undermine the ability of financial institutions to maintain competitive positions and effectively control risks. 50 kellyservices.com.my Figures are in MYR and represent base salary only 51 malaysia

The foreign exchange market experienced robust growth during the year with Malaysian financial markets continuing to support the effective and efficient intermediation of funds for economic activity, diversifying domestic funding sources which contribute to financial stability. For 2011, growth in total financing by the banking system to businesses remained strong, increasing at a faster pace of 13.5% (2010: 9.4%) Engineering and Technical The construction sector is projected to record a stronger growth with a projected rate of 6.6% compared with 3.5% in 2011, supported by the implementation of major infrastructure projects and the special stimulus package. This robust performance benefitted both the fabricated metal and non-metallic mineral product industries. However, civil engineering and special trade sub-sectors registered a slower growth following completion of several major highway projects, maintenance and upgrading works. Capital investments in the resource-based industries and new growth areas encompassing renewable energy, oil and gas, utilities and advanced electrical and electronic products provides opportunities for continued demand for engineers and technical workforce. The higher demand for natural gas from Japan provided opportunities of employment at processing plants and facilities in Peninsula Malaysia. Human Resources As the role of HR practitioners transform from a transactional to a transformational scope, the demand for HR specialist handling a full spectrum of HR activities continues. As more companies are focusing on hiring the right talent to compete within their industry and markets, there is an unabated demand for Human Resources professionals with a focus on areas such as compensation & benefits, learning & development and talent acquisition and retention. Information Technology The communication sub-sector growth was led mainly by the continued expansion in the broadband segment. The broadband penetration rose to 62.3% of households at end 2011 as a result of wider and improved coverage by key industry players. Expansion into rural areas boosted the higher broadband penetration rate due to provision of broadband facilities and this resulted in continued hiring demand for ICT job positions. In promoting e-payments as a viable alternative to paper-based payment, IT professionals in the middle level space continued to be in demand. Contracting is expected to pick up in the IT industry where roles such as project managers, technical architect, infrastructure managers and software specialists will be required to meet the development of offering on mobile banking, payment services via a multi-bank and mobile network-neutral infrastructure. Procurement, Supply Chain and Logistics In line with the moderation in trade and manufacturing-related activity, the transportation and storage, and utilities sub-sector recorded a modest expansion. Demand for cargo-related transport services was lower amid the weakness in external demand and reduction in exports and the weaker performance in the manufacturing sector. With organizations placing a higher importance in improving processes and productivity, mid and senior management positions such as project managers, operations directors and supply/demand/inventory planners are in demand. Sales and Marketing Sales talent with strong performance track records are still sought after, as companies compete for bigger and wider share of the markets. Commissionbased packages are favoured for sales workforce while brand managers, marketing directors, channel managers continue to be in demand as companies extend marketing and advertising campaigns beyond conventional and traditional advertising, moving into digital and online marketing. 52 kellyservices.com.my Figures are in MYR and represent base salary only 53 malaysia

new zealand whole country at the end of 2012, with upwards of 30,000 workers required not just in the construction industry, but also in a wide range of specialist and support areas from local government planning and engineering, to finance, administration and HR. Accounting and finance As in most OECD countries, the New Zealand accounting and finance sector is continuing to manage the fallout from the international debt crisis. After a number of years of restructuring, and the influence of a considerable change in consumer debt patterns and business investment, the industry is yet to stabilise, with jobs still to be shed. The performance of the sector in Australia, where many of New Zealand s major financial institutions and large enterprises are headquartered, also continues to restrict hiring intentions. NATIONAL OVERVIEW With slower than expected economic performance, sliding consumer confidence and a complex international picture of patchy recovery, New Zealand businesses are continuing to take a cautious approach to building capacity. However, a significant expected boost from the Canterbury post earthquake recovery, as well as ongoing strength in several key sectors, is seeing some short-term growth and considerable expected demand over the coming years. The recovery of Christchurch after the devastating earthquakes in 2010 2011 is likely to exert significant pressure on the job market across the Information Technology After weathering much of the recession with little impact, the IT sector has returned strongly to growth, outperforming most other industries outside the agri-business sector. Convergence in smart devices, consumerism, hi-tech manufacturing, and bioinformatics and strong swelling in the gaming and digital content domain is seeing the IT sector enhancing its credentials dramatically both domestically and internationally. This growth transformation and all round solid performance has been reflected in continued skills shortages across all categories of knowledge workers. Areas of particularly critical scarcity include programming and development disciplines. 60 kellyservices.co.nz Figures are in NZD and represent base salary only 61 new zealand

Engineering The Canterbury recovery is likely to exert the biggest influence over the demand for experienced engineering sector candidates over the next 12 24 months. Civil engineering and infrastructure In addition to a significant investment in the redevelopment of Christchurch s badly damaged infrastructure, both local and central government investment is planned in major transport initiatives, particularly in Wellington and Auckland. A resurgent housing market, and the shift of the Christchurch population with a projected 25,000 residential sections being brought onto the market in the next five years will also increase demand from the private sector. Construction Christchurch will be the focus of considerable demand for the construction sector once the rebuild gains momentum. This is predicted to occur by the end of 2012, and with over $20 billion of investment to be made into the rebuilding of the city, will continue to exert a major influence in the economy for up to a decade. Mining While the Australian industry has been the major attraction for skilled local candidates, a major focus on mineral resources development on the part of the National Government, and a number of promising investigations throughout the country, could significantly change the local sector in coming years. Mechanical and Electrical Despite softness in the wider market, the hi-tech manufacturing field, in particular, is going from strength to strength, and will continue to see strong demand for expert staff across a variety of disciplines. Longer term Taking a longer-term view, nearly 200,000 jobs will be created in New Zealand during the 5-year period from 2010-2015. Employment growth will be seen in almost all of the higher-skilled occupations, including business, finance and ICT professionals, and technicians and associates. In addition, there will be 75,000 new specialised manager jobs by 2018, including Production and Operation Managers Finance and Administration Managers Human Resources Managers Sales and Marketing Managers Supply and Distribution Managers Information Technology Managers Research and Development Managers This growth will inevitably create competition and wage pressure in these areas for the foreseeable future. 62 kellyservices.co.nz Figures are in NZD and represent base salary only 63 new zealand

singapore management and push for profitability. This increase in controls and regulations has also created strong appetite for professionals in the compliance domain. NATIONAL OVERVIEW Although Singapore s economy grew 4.9% in 2011, the government has maintained a growth forecast of between 1-3% for 2012. The Singapore employment rate is relatively strong with a total employment growth of 122,600 in the whole of 2011 or 3.9% higher as compared to 2010. Accounting and Finance In 2012, we see a continued demand for business partners who can value add in terms of providing sound business advice as compared to traditional accountants. Middle level positions such as senior accountants, auditors and credit managers are in demand due to stricter internal controls via expense Banking and Financial Services Banks have been retrenching employees in Europe and America but this has had a less radical impact in Asia due to the fact that we have two major banking hubs located in Singapore and Hong Kong. Although the banking and financial services industry is relatively stable in Singapore, we do see some caution in hiring. Banks are focusing on more business critical positions especially in the area of risk and compliance as regulatory requirements continue to become more stringent. This said, whilst the investment banking community continues to be somewhat unpredictable, there seems to be a refocus on consumer wealth-based business lines management professionals in particular. The insurance, asset management and reinsurance sectors are experiencing solid growth creating appetite for skills such as quantitative analysis and actuarial related disciplines Engineering and Technical Similar to other industries, most organisations will have a cautious approach in hiring. We see continued hiring in the oil and gas, construction and water sectors due to consistent growth and potential. As the Singapore government continues to support the construction sector via housing projects and major public works, the construction industry is expected to continue its buoyancy throughout 2012 leading to a strong demand for all categories of construction engineers. 68 kellyservices.com.sg Figures are in NZD SGD and represent base salary only 69 new zealand singapore

Healthcare and Life Sciences With Singapore government s initiative in building Singapore as a medical and life sciences hub, we see an increase in the hiring of medical and life science professionals across the board. Particular emphasis will be placed on professionals with strong expertise in pharmaceutical, regulatory affairs, research and development, quality assurance and technical sales. Human Resources As organisations seek to optimise their structures whilst still attracting, developing and retaining talent across the board, HR will continue to come to the foreground as a critical hire. We see consistent hiring of human resource professionals with a demand focus in areas such as compensation and benefits, learning and development and talent acquisition and retention. Increasingly we also see companies setting up their own in-house recruitment teams aimed at reducing their direct costs, creating some demand for core recruitment skills. Similar to other functional roles, human resource professionals are now expected to play a business partner role, providing commercial advice that are in line with achieving business objectives. This places much attention on HR professionals who have shifted their expertise demonstrably from transactional to strategic. Information Technology IT professionals in the middle level space continue to be in demand in banking and financial services, enduser commerce, IT vendor and consulting sectors. The increase in demand for IT professionals in the banking sector have resulted from an increased awareness of i-banking, banking security lapses and a higher demand for improved phone-banking security. Contracting is also expected to pick up in the IT industry where roles such as project managers, technical architects, infrastructure managers and software specialists will be in demand as companies look to inject skills for core periods of complex projects without the long term cost burden of a permanent hire. Procurement, Supply Chain and Logistics With organisations placing a higher importance on improving processes efficiency and maximising returns on investment, positions across the procurement spectrum will continue to be in strong demand. Category led positions across both direct and indirect spend will be a prime focus particularly for talent with experience of demonstrating substantial and innovative cost savings across supplier channels regionally and globally. Talent with specific focus in categories such as marketing services, technology, workforce management and in direct categories across all commodities will be highly prized. Expertise in low cost country sourcing will also be a sought after skill set. In tandem with this we would expect to see companies investing in supply chain optimisation in a bid to run with maximum efficiency which will see demand for professionals such as project managers, operations directors and supply/demand/inventory planners and those with Lean methodology expertise. Sales and Marketing Traditional marketing budgets have been hit by cost cutting measures leading to the hiring of sales and marketing professionals mainly for replacement, accessing niche specialisations and regional portfolio expansion. Demand still continues however, in skill sets such as account management, social media optimisation, market/competitor analysis and corporate communications. This is due to organisations grappling with changing technology and the way consumers and clientele prefer to purchase goods and services, as well as the borderless nature of their competitive landscape. As ever, we see the continued demand for highly networked specialist sales professionals with a successful track record of business growth across corporate and consumer sectors. Overall with the current global economic uncertainty, organisations across industries are expected to be cautious in hiring. There is still a demand for professionals in the middle to senior level management, but employers are taking their time and are more selective in finding the right talent for their companies. 70 kellyservices.com.sg Figures are in NZD SGD and represent base salary only 71 new zealand singapore

NOTES ABOUT THIS GUIDE As we meet our clients across the region, one question that comes up frequently is the desire for knowledge around specialised talent pools in the region. In order to address this question, we put together this guide to showcase professional and technical positions across the major countries in APAC. This is to enable leadership teams to understand the talent landscape in the region and then determine optimum resourcing strategies to tap into these specialised talent pools and effectively fill their talent needs. The salary information provided in this guide is a compilation of actual placements we made in our areas of specialisations in 2011/2012. We have chosen to report on actual transactions between our clients and candidates as it is then an actual reflection of what is happening in the marketplace and will allow hiring managers to make informed decisions. Please note the information presented in this document should be used as a general guide only. As different organisations have different corporate structures and titling practices, we have used typical corporate titles to maintain simplicity and to allow for easy comparisons. Where number of years experience is mentioned, it is only to give an approximate framework in which to gauge what a typical professional is likely to earn with the level of experience shown for each country. Please also note that we list annual salaries without information on bonuses or benefits. All rights reserved.
