The information provided in this document constitutes a guide to salaries being paid against particular job titles/functions, by region (Dublin and National averages), during the course of the year from Q to Q (inclusive). The figures shown are in Euros per annum. The salary detail contained in this report has been compiled by reviewing the 1,500+ vacancies secured by Martinsen Mayer over the last 9 months across Ireland, along with the current and secured salaries of existing and placed candidates in The information highlights the average salary range within each sector and region. Salaries may in some instances vary above or below the ranges indicated based on the individual, sector specific skills deficits, how in-demand the candidates skills are within that sector, company size and other external factors. 5 PAGE 3 GENERAL TRENDS MOUNA KENZAOUI, CEO Welcome to Martinsen Mayer s 2014 Salary Survey. Last year we began to see, for the first time in many years, a cautious yet upward rise in both the number of candidates moving jobs and the number of employers hiring more and creating new roles. I am delighted to say we have witnessed this upward trend continue to grow over the course of 2013, albeit at a modest rate. The employment market is no longer stagnant and there is a renewed energy evident among many sectors. Across most sectors there has been modest growth in salaries paid of approximately 1-4%. Specialist technology roles are again difficult to fill and many companies are prepared to pay well above the industry average for the right candidate due to the severe talent deficit in this area. Executive level assignments have also increased, reflecting the trend that companies are much more optimistic about the future. While salary cuts and freezes are still not unheard of, they have become much less common in the past 12 months. SME s and start-ups have shown more modest rates of growth than MNC s and large companies. Many smaller organizations continued to feel cash flow pressure in 2013 and made the most of less costly employees where possible such as unpaid or min wage interns and jobbridge candidates. However even smaller organizations in many instances have began hiring more people (with less cutbacks) and have a more positive hiring outlooks for The availability of credit for SME s in Ireland remains high on the agenda to ensure growth of indigenous enterprise in Investment in people is once again back on the agenda in the majority of companies. Bonus payments are on the rise and candidates are expecting them again. While we re not back in the boom times, we have witnessed an improvement in benefits packages across all sectors. This year has been a success story for Ireland in terms of Foreign Direct Investment attraction (FDI). Ireland s flexible, skilled and well-educated workforce continues to attract much valued FDI. Coupled with a higher number of indigenous start-ups, particularly in IT and technology the demand for highly skilled specialist employees is growing and we expect to see this trend continue into The lack of local talent for certain technology roles means more and more companies will begin to focus more on international recruitment. We expect salary growth to continue at a modest rate in 2014 with a higher rate of growth in specialist sectors such as technology and pharmaceutical. There will be a continued increase in the payment of performance related bonuses with overall packages becoming more competitive again.
