English Language Requirements This course requires you to read comprehensive learner workbooks, undertake a range of written assessments and engage in online discussion forums. Furthermore, the course relies on the extensive use of written communication. As such, entry to the course requires English proficiency to Year 12 level, or equivalent. Equivalency can be demonstrated by one of the following: A qualification at Certificate III level or above, or 2 Years industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication. If you are unable to demonstrate equivalency, you will need to complete a language, literacy and numeracy skills test prior to enrolling in the course. Computing Requirements Where the course is delivered partially online, you will need access to a computer and the internet and have intermediate computing skills. Minimum specifications for your computer are: Microsoft Office 2010 or equivalent Broadband internet connection 2GB of RAM CD-ROM or DVD drive Adobe Reader X or equivalent Specific requirements for Windows users: Microsoft Windows XP or higher (Windows 7 or higher is recommended) 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor (2GHz or faster recommended) Adobe Flash Player 10 or higher Specific requirements for Mac OS users: Mac OS X v 10.5 or higher (Mac OS X v 10.6 or higher is recommended) 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster Intel processor (2GHz or faster recommended) You will also need access to a printer and scanner. Delivery and Assessment The College will deliver the Certificate IV in Business Administration face to face and via an integrated E- learning facility. A schedule of delivery will be provided upon you commencing the course. Training and Assessment Guarantee SRBM College is responsible for the quality of the training and assessment in compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 and for the issuance of the AQF certification documentation related to the courses on the College s scope of registration. As a student of SRBM College, we guarantee: All trainers and assessors hold the relevant qualifications required to perform their tasks. In addition, all trainers are selected on the basis of their industry knowledge and credibility. The training environment will reflect the professionalism of our industry sector and will at all times meet the standards required of registered training organisations. The principles of access and equity will be applied and all materials will be regularly reviewed to ensure they reflect current and correct information. Assessment will be fair and equitable. All students who enrol in and pay for any training courses are assured of access to the Colleges training and assessment services in order to complete their course of study or qualification. All students achieving a competent assessment will receive a Statement of Attainment and/or Academic Transcript of their results, provided the student has supplied the College with a Unique Student Identifier (USI), unless an exemption applies under the Student Identifies Act 2014. Where an exemption applies the results of the training will not be accessible through the Commonwealth and will not appear on any authenticated VET transcript prepared by the Registrar http://www.usi.gov.au/pages/default.aspx. Special Consideration Special consideration may be granted where any set of circumstances disadvantages a student s study program to a serious extent, and results in an inability to sit a scheduled exam or complete a piece of assessment. Special consideration is typically given in cases of severe or long term illness, or personal or immediate family trauma for a period of up to 12 months. Evidence supporting the grounds for special consideration must accompany the application. An administration fee of AUD$150 will apply. If special consideration is approved, your enrolment will be suspended for the period you request in your application. Applications for Special Consideration are available by contacting Student Support. You will be notified in writing of the result of your application. Academic Misconduct Academic misconduct is cheating or breaking College academic rules. SRBM College takes academic misconduct very seriously because our reputation, and that of our students and the industry, relies on the integrity of our assessments. SRBM College s Academic Misconduct Committee investigates all cases of suspected misconduct, including impersonating another student, submitting another student s work as your own, stealing another student s work, forging official results, or other inappropriate behaviour. Penalties for academic misconduct are severe. Full details of the Academic Misconduct Policy and Procedures are available at enrolment. Recognition of Prior Learning Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a form of assessment that acknowledges skills and knowledge gained through formal training and/or professional experience. Students who believe they may have sufficient experience or expertise sufficient to exempt them from the normal study and/or assessment requirements should supply evidence to support the claim of competence in each area. If you apply for RPL, you will need to submit certified copies (signed by a Justice of the Peace or other authorised person) of relevant qualifications and any evidence of previous experience related to the competency standards. Complaints and Feedback If you have a complaint or feedback or you wish to appeal against a decision by the RTO concerning any issue related to your study including enrolment confirmation, fees, results, assessment feedback, or special consideration, the Support Team is available to assist you. All complaints, feedback and appeals are handled with discretion and in the strictest of confidence. All complaints and appeals against decisions given by the RTO must be submitted in writing to Student Services. Enrolment and Administration To enrol in a course offered by SRBM College: 1. Simply complete the enrolment form attached to this Course Handbook and Enrolment Guide 2. Pay your fees by any of the options nominated on the Enrolment Form. 3. Once we receive your enrolment form we will arrange to enrol you in your nominated course. Applications for RPL are available by contacting Student Services Credit Transfer Students that are granted Credit Transfer based on previous studies will receive a pro-rata refund of their tuition fees at the time of enrolment provided the relevant documentation for credit transfer accompanies the enrolment form. Resubmission of Assessment If you are deemed not competent in a piece of assessment you will be allowed two resubmissions of your assessment after which you will have to pay $100 per assessment to resubmit your work. You will have four weeks from the date you are deemed not competent in a piece of assessment to resubmit your work. If you fail the assessment and/or you do not achieve adequate marks to obtain competency in the unit, you will be required to re-enrol. Fees to re-enrol are $2,000 per unit of competency. Extension of Study If you wish to extend your study beyond your current enrolment timeframe or you fail to resubmit your assessment within the required timeframe, you can apply for an extension of study. An extension of study fee of AUD$100 per month applies. Reassessment Assessments are designed to evaluate the student s knowledge and understanding of the learning material. If you wish to query your result, you may apply to have your assessment reassessed. To apply for reassessment, you must complete and lodge a request within 10 days of your results being issued. Re-issue of Statement of Attainment/Certificate You can obtain a replacement Statement of Attainment or qualification on written application to SRBM College. A fee of AUD$75 will apply for each Statement of Attainment or qualification re-issued. Refund of Tuition Fees The College will: in the event the College cancels a course prior to commencement, provide the student with a full refund of their tuition fees; refund a pro rata proportion of any tuition fees paid by the student in the delivery and assessment of the course, in the event the College cancels or discontinues a course or fails to provide the agreed services; Fee Protection The College acknowledges that it has a responsibility under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 to protect the fees paid by students in advance of their training and assessment services being delivered. To meet our responsibilities, the College will hold the required current membership with the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET) Australian Students Tuition Assurance Scheme (ASTAS). ASTAS coverage is approved by the VET Regulator and is required when either directly or through a third party, a prospective or current learner prepays fees in excess of a total of $1,500.00 (being the threshold prepaid fee amount) for a course leading to an accredited award; What the Tuition Assurance Scheme provides Should the College be unable to continue offering a course, ACPET will arrange for any eligible student who has prepaid their fees and who has not been withdrawn from the course, and has not completed units of study and courses of study due to: the course not commencing on the agreed starting date; the course ceasing to be provided after it has started; or the full course not being delivered because a sanction has been imposed on the provider to either: a. be placed into an equivalent course such that; i. the new location is suitable to the student, and ii. the student receives the full services for which they have prepaid at no additional cost to the student, or b. be paid a refund of any prepaid fees for services yet to be delivered above the threshold prepaid fee amount.
