Khulna a poor city affected by climate change Characteristics: About 1 million inhabitants 3rd city in Bangladesh, 40% poor Increasing urbanization Challenges: Stagnating poverty rates, low growth rates Inadequate infrastructure for economic development and poverty reduction Inadequate infrastructure to cope with current and future climatic conditions Annually affected by flooding, low elevation More extreme weather events expected National climate strategies need for infrastructure improvement 3
