HTML5 - Key Feature of Responsive Web Design HTML5 is collaboration amongst the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG). WHATWG was working with web forms and applications, and W3C was working with XHTML 2.0. In 2006, they decided to collaborate and make a new version of HTML. This HTML5 is envisioned for software developers involved in designing, creating, and deploying HTML5 web applications. It is appreciated to both learners and advanced developers that already have knowledge in emerging web applications. With HTML5, developers can make apps and websites that role like desktop applications, which permit you to use the web platform to grasp all of your users at once. Users no longer have to download apps for numerous devices; they can start an app by clicking on a link or button and not have to concern about consuming the newest update. Even with the support of HTML5 they can use of a wide variation of graphics elements, such as animation, games, movies, etc. Even penetrating graphics effects such as lightning and shadows, 3D, special effects, vector graphics and so on are supported. Features of HTML5 HTML5 encloses many new & updated features to create HTML much more influential and appropriate for creating Web applications. The HTML project working group has released several feature specs till now. Some of key ones are 1. Video elements: Designers can now make web pages without having to resort to third-party exclusive plug-in software like Flash. YouTube is testing with using HTML 5 to display video. Built in video controls creates the feature more striking and easy to access. HTML5 includes and elements for applying native video and audio players really effortlessly with nothing but open standards, and it also includes an API to permit you to easily appliance custom player controls. 2. Application cache: On the lines of Outlook but minus the email client requirement, now you can stock web apps much like emails locally. Google has already made use of this feature replacing its Google Gears mail client with HTML 5. Google Wave also uses HTML 5. 3. Canvas for Images: The canvas component that derives with HTML 5 lets you manipulate graphics and photos allowing easy version of images. Designers no longer need to use midway technologies like jquery. This will help save development time and effort. The element and associated API allows you to define an area of the page to draw on, and use JavaScript commands to draw lines, shapes and text, import and operate graphics and video, spread in different image formats, and a whole lot more. 4. Geolocation: The HTML5 Geolocation feature allows location identification using numerous geo location technologies GPS (Global Positioning system), IP address, RFID (Radio frequency ID), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth MAC address and GSM/CDMA cell IDs. The system is destined by privacy guidelines and wants to be authorized by entities before it can be utilized. The Geo location specification defines an API that allows a web application to simply access any location data that has been made obtainable, for example by a device's GPS capabilities. 5. Web workers: This feature allows a web application to perform complex tasks individualistically without intrusive with the recital of a webpage in real-time. A common problem encountered by web applications is that their performance suffers when a lot of data processing is mandatory, due to the statistic that the whole thing happens in a only thread/process. Web Workers alleviates this problem by letting us to create background processes to take care of some of the number chomping, allowing the main process to get on with other things. Top 5 Reasons to Use Html5 Right Now: Accessibility: HTML5 making accessible sites easier for two main reasons: semantics and ARIA. The HTML headings like
,
,
,
,
, etc. allow screen readers to easily admittance content. Doctype: No further cutting and pasting some long illegible line of code and no more dull head tags filled with doctype qualities. You can simply and easily type it out and be happy. The really great thing about it though, outside the simplicity, is that it works in every browser clear back to the feared IE6. Cleaner Code: If you are ardent about simple, sophisticated, easy to read code then HTML5 is best for you. HTML5 allows you to write clear and descriptive code, semantic code that allows you to easily separate meaning from style and content. Game Development: You can develop games using HTML5 s tag. HTML5 delivers a great, mobile friendly way to progress fun, collaborating games. If you ve erected Flash games before, you ll love building HTML5 games. Legacy/Cross Browser Support: Your current, general browsers all support HTML5 (Chrome, Firefox, Safari IE9 and Opera) and the HTML5 doctype was shaped so that all browsers, even the truly old and annoying ones, IE6 can use it. But just because old browsers recognize the doctype that doesn t callous they can use all the new HTML5 tags and rewards. Luckily, HTML5 is being made to make things calmer and more cross browser friendly so in those older IE browsers that don t like the new tags we can just add a Javascript shiv that will allow them to use the new elements. Why Developers Need HTML5:
HTML has long been standing in the shadows of, pardon the pun "flashier" web dev frameworks- but that's all changing now. While Flash and IE hold the biggest market shares, critical mobile brands like Apple and Android are siding with HTML5. See why, in order to stay current in desktop and mobile browsers and apps, developers need HTML5. Almost Programmers used the HTML language for create websites, It was not until 2011 that the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) accepted the proposed HTML5 standard. So many websites and browsers are using its features. In fact, major browsers, such as Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari are including more HTML5 features in each new version released. 1. Supports: HTML is being built into browsers. About 74% of the browser market currently provides HTML support. Chrome 94% ready Firefox - 88% ready Safari 75% ready IE9 56% ready The result of the current research indicates that by 2015, 80% of mobile apps will be partially or fully HTML 5 based. 2. Platforms / Devices: HTML5 is potentially available on all platforms and supporting devices it just depends on the users browsers: By 2012 no further mobile browser Flash support for Android 4.1/Jelly Bean, either By 2013, 1B+ HTML5 compatible phones sold per year compared to 336 million in 2011 3. Competition: HTML5 vs Flash, Silverlight HTML5 is cheaper in fact, it s free. It is more adaptable since its non-native Being built into browsers Faster for Development (1 team, 1 code base) Functional on ios mobile devices Open Source Over 48% of web developers currently using HTML5 and about 80% of mobile app development expect to start using HTML5 soon. Like any language, HTML5 has limitations, but with its ability to
control these basic interactive features includes: Charting, 3D vectoring, Image transforms, Video, Audio. JQuery is the leading HTML5 framework. Above data are collected on the basis of survey: Source
