13th InternatIonal MontessorI ConferenCe MontessorI education In the 21st Century focus on the ChIld PhIlIP o BrIen I do believe that as a movement we need to begin to more rigorously exercise influence, and see if our philosophy and experience can influence educational policy and practice. I know this is a long way away, but I also think that the growing questioning of our current education systems may offer an opportunity. deborah Presser-Velder Born in Mexico City. BA in Social Sciences in the USA Full-time undergraduate course in Pastoral Ministries and Religious Education correspondence course, Würzburg Cathedral School Montessori Diploma 3-6 (AMI) and 40 years experience of working with children in Montessori education Additional training in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and international lecturer For age groups 3-6, 6-9, 9-12 and others in Germany, Slovenia, Austria and Latvia Practical implementation of catechistic work as Head of the Atrium (3-6 and 6-9) in Feldafing since 1989 Involvement in the further development of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd as Member of the Executive Board of the Association The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Religious Education of the Child within the scope of Montessori Education is a catechesis which focuses on the child with its own religiousness and dignity. It is a path to making faith experiential and based upon ENJOYMENT of the relationship with God and the ability of the child to WONDER; it is a path to the introduction into the community of faith. Building on the observations and findings of Maria Montessori, Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi developed this catechesis in Rome from the 1950s onwards, which is now available to children on every continent and constantly being developed further. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd follows the development stages of the child, corresponds to the features of each age group, while respecting personal development. With the help of a number of selected presentations for the age groups 3-6 and 6-9, we want to use the workshop to show how this catechesis can be implemented in practice today. Vanessa fichtl......is the mother of two daughters, and works and lives in Dortmund, Germany. Since 2007, she has worked in a children s house run according to AMI standards, and received her A to I Diploma in 2009 under Judi Orion in Denver, Colorado, USA. She is a regular participant in conferences, and has attended training sessions and courses in the fields of Montessori education, paediatrics and neurology. Vanessa has been running her own children s house in Dortmund, with two infant and two kindergarten groups, for a total of 60 children, since 2013. She has been managing the AMI-recognised Montessori Institut Dortmund at an administrative level since 2015. The focus of the workshop is on developing the potential of infants, and the role of the adult. lore anderlik AMI Diploma in Special Education, with many years of experience in Montessori therapy and parental work with children with multiple and severe disabilities.
13th InternatIonal MontessorI ConferenCe MontessorI education In the 21st Century focus on the ChIld kay Baker This presentation will focus on a theory of education as a response to the fundamental needs of the human being. The guidance and support of the adult is necessary to support the satisfaction of human needs. For this purpose, an environment is prepared wherein the child can develop the capacity to become independent of the adult and be able to attend to their own needs, the needs of others, and ultimately to the needs of the succeeding generation. The continuity of the guidance and support of the adult during the stages of development will be examined. Verena schüepp AMI Diploma 3-6 and 6-12, Specialist in Gifted Education (ECHA), Master s degree in Integrated Promotion of Skills and Gifted Children at FHNW Liestal. Music workshop, with selected basic principles by Maria Montessori on the subject of music (bells/ chimes/ music theory), and connections to all other areas of our curriculum in the sense of cosmic education. MarIanne WIedeMann In my main job, I work at a kindergarten, complemented by a wide and diverse range of further therapeutic training. I have passed on my skills, which I was taught directly by Marianne Frostig, over many years of practical work throughout Germany with learning-impaired children starting school and further training sessions. In my current job as an alternative practitioner, self-confidence and personal responsibility as one of the causes of disease is also a key theme for my patients. Marianne Frostig communicated the importance of education in self-confidence and personal responsibility to me 40 years ago with her concept. This has not merely shaped my attitude from a professional viewpoint, by influencing the way I encourage children who have been entrusted to me; it has also defined my personal viewpoint and quality of life ever since. Petra Braun Rector of a municipal Montessori school in Ratingen for many years, AMI Diploma for the 6-12 age group in Baldegg, Montessori m+ speaker. The story of diversity and stories about word symbols will be the focus of the workshop. Simple texts can be analysed in this way; but what about complex poetic texts, or texts from the daily papers? Do the word symbols of Dr. Montessori help there? Bilder: Vera Kuttelvaserova, Syda Productions, Gajus, Konstantin Yuganov, Christian Schwier - Fotolia.com
