They are required by regulation, expected by customers and needed by business. It s more important than ever to ensure that your knowledge and skills are up-to-date and the best they can be. Developed in association with the banks and UCD, the Education Framework is a professional pathway that provides a core set of qualifications for everyone in the banking profession. Through its programmes, from the short, online to the executive level, our aim is to build banking excellence. That s why we ve developed the Education Framework. And why it s right for you. Where do I start? What is the? It s an engaging, short, online programme that will build or refresh your understanding of three key areas of the profession. Executives and s What do I study? There s one module covering three topics (If you are a QFA you are exempt from studying Regulation). ing Model How a bank functions, its unique characteristics and services Those in Managerial and specialist roles Ethics An overview of ethical requirements, considering trust and duty of care to customers Regulation Why and how banks are regulated and what it means for customers and employees How do I benefit? You will have a clear understanding of three key areas of your profession and of your professional and ethical responsibilities. Award from the Institute of ing What else do I need to know? The is open to everyone who is a member of the Institute. It will take you about four hours to complete. There s an online test at the end of each topic. It costs c10 and you get two CPD hours. What s next? Here s a look at your options The next stage on your journey through the Framework depends on your qualifications and experience, on what you are interested in and what you want to achieve. You will complete an application form. All applications will be assessed individually. If you have a Honours business degree or a postgraduate qualification in a business discipline and three years relevant experience, you can go straight to or. You may also be entitled to some exemptions. If your degree or postgraduate qualification is not business related, you require three years relevant experience to go to. If you have a non-business related Honours degree or postgraduate qualification you can go to subject to six years relevant experience, with three years experience in a managerial or specialist role. If you d like to specialise in credit, personal debt management or wealth management, you can focus on gaining a specialist qualification in any of these areas. You can do this before, during or after you complete the programme. I want to become a What is the programme? This programme blends the academic and the practical. It s for everyone working in banking, particularly those working in or aspiring to work in roles with management responsibilities. It will give you an academic qualification and a professional designation. With a degree and three years experience, you are immediately eligible to apply for this programme Executives and s What do I study? You study three core modules and one of six optional modules. Depending on your degree you may be exempt from some modules. CORE MODULES Principles and Practice of ing Principles of banking and the banking business model, with an emphasis on its unique risk characteristics Those in Managerial and specialist roles Principles of Fundamentals of credit risk management, taking into account key lessons from the banking crisis Customer Experience Principles of customer experience and customer relationship management, including ethical responsibilities, customer related regulation and conduct risk How do I benefit? OPTIONAL MODULES - SME Assessment - SME Financing and Distressed Credit Analysis - Personal Debt and Personal Insolvency - Wealth - ing in a Digital Age - Business You will: - Deepen your technical understanding of the main activities in banking and associated risks - Develop a transferable skill set, including decision-making, problem-solving, communication and analytic skills - Enhance your critical awareness and understanding of the contemporary issues in financial services Award Diploma in Financial Services from UCD (at Honours Degree Level 8) What else do I need to know? This programme is open to all those with a degree who have three years experience and are a member of the Institute. On successful completion, you will be awarded a professional certificate or professional diploma at Honours Degree Level 8. You can complete these modules at any time before, during or after the programme. You may also complete a specialist qualification on its own, as an end in itself.
