Pilot Project 32 nd International Gastrointestinal Surgery Workshop 2015 February 28 March 6, 2015, Congress Center Davos, Switzerland Advanced Course 2015 Colorectal & Hernia Surgery Modules Organized by the Foundation for Gastro intestinal Surgery Davos. A member of Academia Rætica A
Welcome Message Advanced Course Dear Colleagues We wish you a special warm welcome to Davos. This year the 32 nd practical course in gastrointestinal surgery takes place and you are part of the first advanced course modules. Since the inauguration of this course, over 30 years ago, gastrointestinal surgery has been pushed forward towards minimal invasive procedures. Professional education and international collaboration are the keystones of the long lasting success of the Davos courses, as well as renewal. This year we offer the next, advanced step: Beside the basic and intermediate courses we introduced a pilot project for an advanced course focused on colorectal and hernia surgery. Concept and program was set up by international collaboration again, in particular by Walter Brunner, Harry van Goor and Friedrich Herbst. In the program you will find an arrangement of lectures and practical exercises using various models. The theoretical part will cover interactive lectures, split group theory sessions with rotation, case discussions and meet the experts rounds. You as participants will also be involved in moderations, should bring in your experience and own cases, ask questions and be part in the exchange of knowledge. Therefore you are requested to bring your smart phones and laptops to special interactive sessions and literature research. Furthermore, the main issue to improve your skills in practical exercises was always a focus of the Davos course and will be part of the advanced course as well. You will be trained on different modules including perfunded organs in POP-Trainers. At each table expert instructors in the topic of the advanced course will be happy to welcome and guide you. Make frequent use of it! Since this is the first year as a pilot course we kindly ask you in advance for your understanding in case of short rearrangement of lectures, topics or lecturer and are highly interested in your feed back to improve the courses for the next years. It is a great pleasure to welcome you to our Davos-Course 2015. We very much hope you will find this new advanced course both stimulating and creative.
