4 P R O G R A M Monday, August 3, :00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Periodontal Restorative Strategies In The Aesthetic Management of Single And Multiple Implants Dr. Stephen Chu Anterior implant restorations can be extremely challenging, especially in the high smileline case type. Diagnosis to treatment planning to treatment of the single tooth and multiple teeth will be presented in detail including surgical and restorative interrelationships. A decision of immediate vs. delayed implant placement, immediate vs. delayed abutment placement and loading, materials selection and color matching will be presented. In addition, a decision of thin vs. thick perio-types will be discussed. Tuesday, August 4, :00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Sinus Augmentation Advances And Practical Considerations Dr. Ziv Mazor The maxillary posterior edentulous region presents a challenging condition for dental implant placement. Alveolar bone resorption and increased pneumatization of the sinus cavity reduce the amount of alveolar bone necessary to maintain a predictable implantsupported prosthesis. This problem can be overcome by grafting the maxillary sinus floor, which may provide a sufficient quantity of bone for the placement of endosteal dental implants to support a prosthetic reconstruction. The purpose of this course is to give the theorethical background for doing this type of procedure as well as the step by step surgical guidelines using state of the art grafting materials, instrumentation and growth factors. Special emphasis will be given on the complications and failures associated with sinus augmentations in combination with ways to avoid these failures both pre and post operatively. Wednesday, August 5, :00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. The Art of Soft Tissue Management LIVE SURGERY Dr. Christian Stappert Clinicians practicing advanced implant dentistry face the challenges of tooth and implant restorations being close to each other. To achieve aesthetic satisfying results, an appreciable width and thickness of attached gingiva is desirable around implants and teeth. Due to alveolar ridge defects, tooth extractions or previous restorations, the soft tissue appearance is often compromised. Full thickness flap designs unveil their limitations when additional vertical or horizontal volume is gained or if extended augmentation areas are covered by soft tissue. Common surgical procedures result in an extension of mucosa up to the alveolar ridge and a repeated displacement of the mucogingival line. Different surgical procedures like apically repositioned flaps or free gingival grafts are required to re-establish lost attached gingiva and healthy soft tissue color. The knowledge of soft tissue management and the ability to choose the right surgical soft tissue procedure in a given situation creates the foundation for an outstanding prosthetic restoration.
5 Thursday, August 6, :00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Advances And Innovations In Implant Dentistry Dr. Dennis Tarnow Implant dentistry is continuously evolving into a more predictable form of therapy. New and innovative techniques now allow for better aesthetics and greater patient comfort. At the same time, these numerous new techniques and therapies that are available continue to raise questions and concerns regarding the pros and cons of each. This program will answer the frequently asked questions regarding many controversial issues as they relate to early loading, predictability, membrane placement, membrane type, grafting, primary closure, immediate placement and immediate temporization. The program will address and interweave the innovations in implant dentistry and how they can enhance your clinical outcomes for greater patient satisfaction. Friday, August 7, :00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Strategies For The Immediate Loading Of Dental Implants Dr. Harold Baumgarten Both clinicians and patients want to accelerate implant treatment. As a result, many techniques have been developed to achieve this goal, unfortunately with variable results. Dr. Baumgarten will address both the biological and practical issues involved in ensuring satisfactory outcomes. Topics to be discussed include: immediate vs. accelerated vs. delayed loading, the impact of tissue biotypes, the importance of primary stability, CT guided surgery and provisionalization techniques.
