The Michigan Center for Nursing is the principle partner for this grant that will support the development of a leadership program for nurses in Michigan. The project total for this grant is $375,000 for two years. 2010 Precepting for Success Program developed at MSU CON will be purchased for use by Allegiance Health System for a period of two years. The project will be funded for $10,000. 2009 2010 Principle Investigator and Project Manager for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation grant entitled: Preparing Nurses for Roles in Patient Centered Medical Homes: Case Management and Quality/Safety Management. This grant will support the development of two additional courses in the RN Career Transition: Nursing for Life program that features online theory and a precepted clinical practicum for nurses wishing to transition to roles as case managers/care coordinators and quality/safety managers in clinical settings including the Patient Centered Medical Home concept. The project total for this award is $82,290 for one year.

2006-2009 Project Manager for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation award from the Robert Wood Johnson Partners Investing in Nursing s Future Initiative Grant. This grant will support the design and implementation of The RN Career Transition: Nursing for Life program, that features online theory and precepted clinical practice for nurses wishing to transition to clinical practice in ambulatory, home health, hospice and long term care settings. This project will also identify nursing priorities that other funders could support. The project total for this award is $375,000 for two years. 2006-2007 Project Manager for the Michigan Nursing Faculty Summits on Diversity funded by the WK Kellogg Foundation and the Michigan Department of Community Health. This grant supported the planning, implementation and evaluation of two summits for nursing faculty at all the schools of nursing in Michigan for the purpose of increasing the recruitment and retention of a more diverse student population in Michigan. The project total was $112, 261. 2005-2006 Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth grant, entitled, Accelerated Nurse Training Program Initiative Developed and implemented Preceptor training workshops for Oakwood and Sparrow Hospital nursing staff. This collaborative Educational Grant opportunity helped to institute an accelerated option BSN program in collaboration with Beaumont Hospital, Ingham Regional Medical Center, Oakwood Hospital, and Sparrow Hospital and Michigan State University College of Nursing. $1,404,844. 2005-2006 Michigan Department of Community Health Medicaid Administrative Match agreement 2005-06 (CON Amendment). Developed and implemented preceptor training workshops for Lansing Public School nurses. This project is developed to support the design of curriculum enhancements to improve the ability of graduates to serve Medicaid populations and other disadvantaged populations. In addition to theory and clinical ability of graduates to serve the Medicaid and other disadvantaged populations, a key feature of the project is the development of a non-credit course in Case Management for RNs and the development of a case management practice in our faculty practice, and to implement a program in conjunction with the Lansing School District School Nurses. This project was initially funded in 2002. The resubmissions for fiscal 2002-3 and 2003-4 were also funded.

2003-2005 Project Manager for a Web-Based RN Refresher Demonstration Project funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation. This project is to design, implement, and evaluate an RN refresher Program that features web-based theory and community based clinical practicum. Facilitation of the re-entry of these licensed nurses into the workforce is a short-term strategy to address the nursing shortage. This project is funded for $99,280 over a twoyear period. 2002-2003 Project Manager for the National Nursing Summit on Primary Care Nurse Managed Centers. This project was developed through a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to build consensus around a vision and strategic direction for primary care nurse managed centers as an option for healthcare in America s communities with an emphasis on the role of academic primary care nurse managed centers.
