1. Click Register and Join Heart Walk How to Register for the Heart Walk 2. Step 1: Start a Team, Join a Team, Join as Individual Click Start a Team if you want be a team captain and recruit walkers to your team. Then, click New Team Under Group and choose the company you work with. If you don t see your company listed, contact your American Heart Association staff team to set up the company for you today. Choose Join a Team if you want to be a member of an existing team. Then, choose your company from the Select a Company drop-down. Then click the Select button. The teams that are part of that company will appear. Click Join Team to sign up as a member of that team. Choose Join as Individual if you wish to register for the walk independently.

3. Step 2: Create your username and password. If you are returning, you can enter your username and password from last year. If you are a new participant you can use Social Sign On or you can create a new username and password. 4. Step 3: Fill out your contact information and create your friendly URL.

5. Step 4: Share Why you walk 6. Step 5: Make a personal gift. Although a personal gift is not required, we invite you to give a personal donation of $25 or more while registering for the event.

7. Step 6: Set your goal, enter your shirt size (shirts are given to participants that raise $100 or more for Heart Walk), and choose your prize option. 8. Step 7: Process your personal donation. 9. Waiver: Click I Agree on the Waiver pop-up to complete your registration. 10. Your Personal Headquarters will appear. From your My HQ you can: a. Customize your personal page by uploading a photo and sharing your WHY

b. Send emails to friends and family asking them to support the American Heart Association c. Post to social networks inviting your friends to donate. Online Fundraising (My HQ) 11. Visit your event website. 12. Click the LOGIN and FUNDRAISE tab and enter your Username and Password. 13. Utilize all of the tools in the My HQ to make the most of your fundraising efforts. Click Start here! on the right side of the screen next to New to your HQ? for simple steps to customize your personal webpage, send emails to your friends and family requesting donations, and track your personal progress as you raise funds. As you utilize the tools, you will earn badges.

My Webpage: Customize your Image/Video and Share your Story Click on the My Webpage tab. Participants have the option to edit their own personal webpage, while Team Captains have the option to edit their team s page as well (blue link just under the My Webpage Tab). Participants can upload a photo or a video to their page. The default text can also be edited. Click Preview to see what the page will look like When you re done, don t forget to hit Submit!

Email: Send emails to recruit participants and fundraise Click the Email tab: Under Greeting, put the person s name. Under Recipient Email put the person s email address (you have the option to import your address book. Click here for instructions.) Quickly send emails to your past/current donors or past/current team members by clicking Address Book above the Recipient Email column. Check the box next to the contacts you want to email and then click Send Message to Selected Contacts. Next to Template click the dropdown arrow to view the type of email you would like to send (Automatically set to Ask 1: Donation Solicitation). Next to Subject is the subject of the email (you can change this to something more personal if you d like). Next to Body is the body of the email that you will send. You can change this message to make it more personal to you. When you have filled everything in, click Preview Email to see what your email will look like to you recipients. If your email is to your satisfaction, go ahead and hit Send Email (be sure to send a copy to yourself as well)! If you created the email from scratch and want to save it to use again, click Save As Template.

Reports: Track Your Progress Click on the Reports tab to view a summary of online and offline donations. Export and print options are available. Past participants are able to see their past donors by clicking Past Donation Statistics Team Captains can see reports on General Team donations and Team Fundraising by clicking the blue links under the Reports tab.

Tools/My Profile: Pledge Entry Follow the steps to enter checks or cash that you collect from donors. Then, send the donations into your local office to receive credit for the gifts on your personal page. Print Donation Form Print your personalized donation form and share it with donors that prefer to mail a check into the office. The form has the local office mailing address and the participants name, team name and company name. Edit Profile You can make changes to your contact information, fundraising goal, team name and more. Edit Login Modify your username, password and/or security question.

Social: Social Share and Mobile App Social Share You can use Social Share to quickly ask your social networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc) to join your team or make a donation toward your fundraising efforts: Along the VERY top of the screen, in the gray bar there are three red buttons a. Click Share, Request Donations or Ask Your Friends to Join. b. Check the box next to the social network icon you want to use. Enter your username and password for that social network. Repeat if you would like to share across multiple social networks simultaneously. c. Once you enter your username and password for each social network, you won t be asked to enter them again. You can share messages with your friends again and again. Type your personal message into the box and push PUBLISH to instantly share your update across multiple social networks at once. A hyperlink to your personal webpage is automatically added to the message.

Mobile App Download the free Heart Walk Mobile App on your iphone or Android to raise funds for the Heart Walk from the convenience of your smart phone! Visit the iphone app store or the Android Market Place and search for Heart Walk. a. Once you ve downloaded the app, enter your Heart Walk username and password to log into the Heart Walk event. b. Select Your Message and Receivers: Select what you want to do. Request a Donation, Send Reminders, or Recruit Team Members i. There are suggested Email, Text, Facebook, Twitter messages loaded for each message purpose. ii. Personalize your message by editing the text. iii. Each message will include a link directly back to your personal HW donation page, where your friends and family can give a secure, online donation. iv. The Heart Walk app integrates with your phone's twitter, facebook, email and text applications to send outbound messages so it comes directly from you. c. Send/Post Your Message: When you message is ready, click Send for Email and Text Messages or Post for Facebook and Twitter messages. Your message will be sent instantly. d. Celebrate as donations come in: Don't forget to thank those that have given to you. Also, remember to send reminder donation requests for those that haven't given yet.
