WELCOME MESSAGE International Porous and Powder Materials Symposium and Exhibition, PPM 2013, will be held in Sheraton Cesme Hotel Resort & Spa in İzmir-Turkey between September 3-6, 2013. The symposium is anticipated to be one of the largest gatherings of its kind and is expected to attract more than 800 people from academia, research organizations and industry. The purpose of the symposium is to create an environment of scientific and technological discussions and exchange of ideas between academia and industry on fundamental aspects of characterization, manipulation, production and usage of porous and powder materials which are widely used in construction, sound and heat insulation, coating, ceramics, filling, packaging, storage, waste treatment, metallurgy, textile, pharmaceuticals, hygiene, defence, aerospace and other applications. In addition to targeting scientific and technological aspects of porous and powder materials, the symposium will host an exhibition for displaying products and related characterization and production equipments. One-hour long workshops will also be scheduled for those who would like to introduce their processes, products, methods and equipment. Workshops are free for both the presenters and attendees. The important dates to note are as follows: Abstract Submission Begins Abstract Submission Ends Notification of Acceptance November 13, 2012 March 15, 2013 April 15, 2013 Early Bird Registration Begins Early Bird Registration Ends November 13, 2012 June 30, 2013 Full Manuscript Submissions Begins Full Manuscript Submissions Ends April 16, 2013 May 31, 2013 Presentations Around 30 separate sessions will be held during the PPM 2013 Symposium. Abstracts accepted following a peer-review process will be presented either as an ORAL PRESENTATION or as a POSTER. The guidelines for preparing the full papers, oral and poster presentations will be announced after the selection process. All the full articles submitted to the symposium will be published in a Proceedings Book after a review process and distributed to all registered attendees during on-site registration. Workshops Thematic Workshops will be organized for those who would like to introduce their processes, products, applications and equipments. SOCIAL EVENTS Welcome Cocktail September 3rd, 2013. Gala Dinner September 5th, 2013. Izmir City Center Tour The tour originates from İzmir Cesme Sheraton Hotel, Resort and Spa. The tour is expected to take around 8 hours. Points of interest are: a drive to the top of Mount Pagus; the panoramic views of the city and the Bay from the ancient fortress of Kadifekale built by Alexan der the Great; İzmir s museums of Archaeology and Ethnography; the city s symbol, the Ottoman Clock Tower; a tour of Izmir s famous kilometers long Kemeralti Bazaar. Ephesus Tour The tour is expected to take around 8 hours. EPHESUS, which is known to be the commer cial, religious and social center of antiquity is probably the best combination of Greek, Roman and Byzantine civilisations. Points of interest are: the Fountains of Trajan, Polio; the Temples of Hadrian and Domition; the Library of Celcius, Bouloterion; the Great Theatre with a capacity of 24.000 spectators; the House of the Virgin Mary; the Archaeological Museum in Selcuk. Boat Tour The tour is expected to take around +8 hours. The tour Boat is Lady Bente. The points of interest are: a barbeque lunch and swimming at the Aquarium Bay; swimming in the crystal clear waters of Blue Bay; docking inside large caves with waters of healing powers; 40meter long waterslide at each stop. Timing and other details of these events will be annouced later. The tours may be cancelled in case of low demand. 10
