6 GOAL AND SCOPE OF SYMPOSIUM 1. Strategic Public Management Symposium actualized on October 24, academicians, which are competent in this field of study, from 12 different universities in Turkey. During symposium, strategies and different implementation cases that are shaped by reforms in public management and local government were analyzed. Within the scope of the Project Local Government Reforms: international Comparison (LocRef) that is conducted in cooperation with TÜBİTAK-COST and, preparation process has started for Strategic Public Management Symposium 2. Wind of change in Public Management influenced West Europe Countries and Turkey almost at the same time. It is possible to reach literature review of reformations, reform regulations, implementations and their results for last 25 years. However, sustainable qualified scientific events, which allow discussions and evaluations of these studies internationally, are very insufficient. A scientific platform is needed to strengthen understanding of strategic public management, and to allow categorization of multiple studies, available data, analytical analysis and evaluations. Strategic Public Management Symposium that performed in October 24, 2014, strengthened the consensus about necessity of this kind of platform in terms of its sustainability. Annual Strategic Public Management Symposium enable to meet academicians who studies public management from different aspects and different disciplines. This symposium will provide international comparison regarding different experiences of many countries. This attempt will help researchers in this field, and give way to new projects, new group works. Strategy oriented actions, as a result of new public management understanding, and public management reforms in this scope must be understood, discussed and analyzed academically. For this purpose, it is important to do something to raise awareness. Through this annually organized symposium, it is aimed to raise awareness in national scale and to represent Turkey better in academic platforms. Sharing and discussing detailed analysis of public management reforms in Turkey with other researchers and allowing them to contribute, will give chance to Turkey to be evaluated in many international publications and to increase its recognization. Strategic Public Management Symposiums will allow European researchers, bureaucrats and PhD students to evaluate processes of public sector reforms and implementations. 5

During symposium, strategies and different implementation cases that are shaped by reforms in public management and local government were analyzed.
