Shown is : - how to define a Data Entry Filter - how to Backup/Restore Data Emphasis is put on the following software aspects : 1 Screen aspects to define a Data Entry Filter. 2 Pre-selecting Parameter Values from Glossary Trees. 3 Selecting Optional Parameters. 4 Printing a Data Entry Filter. 5 Backup / Restore Glossary and Land Use Data Files.

First of all, select the Glossary option of the Main Menu.

Then, select the Define a Data Entry Filter option within the Menu. This option will take you to the Data Entry Filters picklist, which is the entry point to enter/edit Filters.

A picklist of previously defined Data Entry Filters is then shown. To copy the selected filter press F5. To edit the selected filter press F10. To specify a new filter press Ins. To delete the selected filter press Del.

Following selection of the Maximum Filter, the F10 key (=edit) was pressed. Name of the selected filter In this screen you can : - select optional parameters - pre-select parameter values

The screen consists of three vertical sections. List of Parameters. Selected? Lists of pre-selected Parameter Values + some parameter settings.

Parameters are shown in the order of the Data Entry screens. Lists of Parameter Names. Parameters are grouped by topic. For Land Use Data, parameters are grouped into 4-levels.

Fix parameters are compulsory and can not be de-selected. Selected?

Each of the» parameters are linked to one Glossary tree. The» signs will be replaced by a listing of the pre-selected Parameter Values. Presently no values are pre-selected from the Glossary, i.e. all items of the respective Glossary Trees are available during Data Entry.

Using picklists, Administrative Areas can be pre-selected. Select Administrative Area and press Enter. An empty picklist will then appear. Then press Ins to add an Administrative Area.

This example shows the firts utility of the prepared Glossary. Select an item from the Admin. Areas Glossary Tree. Select whole branches of trees by pressing F6 (=Unspecified).

Press Ins again and again to add more pre-selections........ then press the F10 key to save the made pre-selections. Many Admin. Areas can be preselected by using Ins (=Add) again and again. Whole branches were selected by pressing F6 (=Unspecified).

After pressing F10, the screen will list the pre-selections made. Lists of pre-selected Administrative Areas.

Some fields can only be turned on (yes) or off (no). No» sign is shown because these parameters are not linked to a Glossary Tree.

If the parameter is no, that parameter will NOT be shown in the successive Data Entry Screens. Just press Enter to select yes or no.

Some fields have two separate on (yes) / off (no) options. Just press Enter again and again to select each time a different yes / no combination.

Between certain fields, the yes / no selection options are linked.... If Holding size is no, then Unit and Info Source are also no, and you can not edit their status!

.... if yes is selected for Holding Size, then all linked parameters are also changed to either yes or fix. If Holding size is yes, then you can edit the Unit and Info Source parameters.

As shown before, through picklists, Units can be pre-selected. Many Units can be pre-selected by using Ins (=Add) again and again. Use F10 to save the made preselections.

Some parameters have as well the yes/no as the» option. Select Info Source, press Enter and then an Edit Screen will appear with two edit fields.

Now, the Select Parameter edit field represents the yes/no option....

.... and the No.of Items Selected No.of Items Selected edit field will invoke an empty picklist for pre-selection of parameter values. Many Info Sources can be preselected by using Ins (=Add) again and again. Use F10 to save the made preselections.

When all options are properly defined, then save the filter. Press F10 to save the defined or modified Data Entry Filter.

After saving the filter, you will return to the Data Entry Filters picklist. To print the selected filter press F3.

.... you will then be requested to specify an Output Device. Select an option and press Enter. This picklist may vary from PC to PC, depending on the no. of output ports available.

As example: on the screen the print may look as below. No parameters are not shown in the printed output; e.g. Info Source.

You can scroll using arrow or PageDown / PageUp keys. In this example, only Fix parameters are selected and thus printed.

Now go back (press Esc) to the main menu of the Glossary Module. Select the Backup / Restore option and press Enter.

Select the Backup Files option and press Enter. After selection an Edit Screen will appear. Specify all three edit fields. Note: Strongly recommended is to keep the Glossary and Data Files always together. Press F10 to start the Backup procedure. It should fit on one HD-flop.

Select the Restore Files option and press Enter. After selection an Edit Screen will appear. Specify all three edit fields. Note: Strongly recommended is to keep the Glossary and Data Files always together. Press F10 to start Restore; be sure not to overwrite valuable data!!!
