Training Centers for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers ICEX-INVEST IN SPAIN BUSINES OPPORTUNITIES IN SPAIN: Aerospace

Business Opportunity Establishing in Spain training centers for aircraft maintenance engineers in accordance with national education system and the aeronautical licenses

The industry of training centers for aircraft maintenance engineers The aircraft maintenance engineers are the professionals that work in maintenance, repair, assembly, checking and certification of commercial aircraft. There are two types of authorization in Spain: advanced level vocational training, established by the national education system, that grants the aeromechanical technician degree, and the authorization by the aeronautical regulatory body. To obtain all the authorizations, the requirements that must to be fulfilled are those of the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) regarding mechanical engineers and technicians licenses (Part 66) and regarding the training centers (Part 147), together with the Spanish education system requirements to obtain an advanced level degree in aeromechanical maintenance.

The industry of training centers for aircraft maintenance engineers in Spain In the past, Iberia Airlines was the company that trained the required technical staff at their own maintenance school. According to several civil aviation sources, there is a big demand of technical maintenance technicians globally. The maintenance engineers and technicians training is the same for airlines and aviation activities: general aviation, aerial works and military aviation. Moreover, the Spanish aeronautics industry also needs maintenance staff, because of the expansion of manufacturers activities. The maintenance engineers license is not compulsory for the aircraft manufacture and assembly facilities, but is still a priority. The fact that there is a single European sky and a European license for aeronautical staff favors this activity, since maintenance technicians and engineers for any European country can be trained in Spain.

The Opportunity The initiative is favored by the following reasons: Lack of qualified staff holding an EASA European license Currently there is only a few centers in Spain with the authorization from the EASA Increasing outsourcing in the maintenance industry by the airlines
