5. Business Cntinuity Standards and Guidelines 5.1 BS 25999 The BBC's Business Cntinuity Management (BCM) is aligned with the principles f BS25999 which is the British Standard fr Business Cntinuity. BS25999 requires a Bard Directr t have verall respnsibility fr Business Cntinuity; in the BBC this is the Chief Operating Officer. The standard cntains the Business Cntinuity Lifecycle. Appendix A BBC Emergency & Cntinuity Obligatins The BBC has a number f duties that it shuld undertake, as a public service prvider t meet Defence and Emergency arrangements, these are detailed belw and in the charter, as well as in Cnnecting in a Crisis as part f the Civil Cntingency Act. The Charter and its subsequent Agreements include requirements t address key perating risks and prvide bradcasting capability fr the Gvernment under the Defence and Emergency Arrangements clause. In additin, fllwing 11 September 2001, the BBC undertk t imprve its arrangements fr emergency bradcasting at a lcal level. This sectin cntains the dcument references and details fr these bligatins.
