STUDENT VISA For fall and spring semesters, undergraduate students are required to be registered for 12 credits, and graduate students for 9 credits. F-1 VISA F1 is a visa category that allows foreign nationals to study in the United States. This visa is issued by US embassies and US consulates. It requires students to maintain full-time student status at all times, and make satisfactory progress towards program completion. F-2 VISA F-2 is a visa category that allows dependents (spouses and children) of foreign nationals to accompany F-1 visa holder in the US. I20 DOCUMENT I-20 is a US government document which allows students to enter the United States on an F-1 visa. This is issued by the Office of International Education and is needed to secure an appointment with the US Embassy or consulate for an F-1/F-2 visa. Students must have it re-signed by the Office of International Education prior to travel home country for re-entry into the United States. J-1 VISA J-1 is a visa category that allows foreign students/scholars from partner institutions to study or conduct research in an US university for a short period. DS- 2019 DS- 2019 is a US government document which allows students to enter the United States on a J-1 visa. This is issued by the Office of International Education. This is needed to secure an appointment with the US Embassy or consulate for a J1 visa.
