May 3, 2014 Welcome to the beautiful Rancho Riding Club for our Dressage in the Ranch show! This is a trailer in show but don t let that dissuade you from coming! The historic Rancho Riding Club is serine and intimate which makes it perfect for your young horses to get some show mileage and you adult amateurs looking to experience a rated show. From the time you pull in with your trailer until you leave, we ll take good care of you. On Saturday your Chapter Board will host a big Barbeque lunch. Chapter Chair and Grill Master Debra Rankin will be working her magic on the BBQ. You won t want to miss out. On Sunday, we ll have a gourmet lunch truck on site. Coffee, tea and pastries will be available each morning too. Did you know that the Intro and Opportunity Classes at this show count towards the Schooling Show Circuit? CDS Membership is not required to participate in USEF/USDF recognized shows. HOWEVER, if your goal is to qualify for the CDS Annual Championship show, CDS Junior Championships (North or South), or CDS Regional Adult Amateur Competitions (North, Central or South), or any CDS awards programs, the Rider, Owner and Trainer must be members of CDS at the time the scores are earned. 2014 CIRCUIT AND YEAR END AWARDS Recognized and Schooling Show Circuits 2014 CDS SAN DIEGO CHAPTER RECOGNIZED SHOW CIRCUIT The 2014 show season is underway! Each year, CDS SD members can compete to qualify for year-end circuit awards. Circuit winners are celebrated at the annual awards party held in November. CDS-SD s 2014 competition season runs from October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2014. This year s Circuit includes the following shows: San Diego Chapter s February, June & August shows, The Spooktacular Halloween Dressage Show I & II, Creek Hollow recognized shows, Galloway Dressage Show in May, and Del Mar International. To be eligible for year end circuit awards, a competitor must meet the following criteria: Be a member of CDS San Diego chapter in good standing at the time scores are earned. Achieve a qualifying score of 60% or greater in Training-Fourth and FEI classes (Freestyles, Intro and Opportunity classes are not included in the show circuit awards). Compete at a minimum of two San Diego Chapter shows. Points are given for first through third place at each show. First place: 5 points Second place: 3 points Third place: 2 points A first through third place win at a CDS San Diego Chapter show earns DOUBLE POINTS! 2014 SCHOOLING SHOW CIRCUIT The San Diego chapter is again sponsoring in part a schooling show circuit for both CDS and non-cds members to participate in. Schooling shows are designed for riders and horses to gain valuable experience and knowledge showing dressage. The circuit will include 6 shows hosted by PVRA, REINS and Creek Hollow. To qualify for the Schooling Show Circuit Year End Awards presented at the yearly awards party, you must be a member of the San Diego Chapter in good standing. Points are given for first through third place at each show. First place: 5 points Second place: 3 points Third place: 2 points To earn points, you must receive a minimum score of 50%. RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION Please read carefully All San Diego Chapter shows are covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF rule book and will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. ENTRIES: Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes are LIMITED in size and may fill before the closing date. Correct fees and organization member numbers must accompany each entry form. No competition number will be issued without a completed entry, full payment, signatures, fees and organization memberships. Please include a copy of your current CDS, USEF, USDF and if appropriate, DASC membership cards. Parents or Guardians must sign entry blanks of minors. No phone entries will be accepted. NEW ONLINE ENTRY SYSTEM AT www.crackerjackproductionsllc.com. We encourage using this service for prompt and accurate processing of your entry. Online check, MasterCard and Visa are accepted. LATE ENTRIES: Entries must be postmarked on or before the closing date or will incur a $25 ate fee. Late entries will be accepted and given a ride time only if schedule permits. Horses already entered in the horse show will receive priority. SCRATCHES: Scratches made before the closing date will be refunded minus the office fee. NO REFUNDS after the closing date including natural disasters and acts of God. A CREDIT OF CLASS FEES good for one year at any CDS San Diego Chapter show will be issued ONLY with a letter from a DVM received by June 8th. CHANGES: Any change of horse/rider is the responsibility of the rider/owner. Changes must be reported to the show secretary PRIOR to the start of the class. Failure to make this report to the show secretary may result in elimination. RETURNED CHECKS/UNPAID BALANCES: Returned checks are subject to a $50.00 fee. Unpaid balances will be billed plus a $35.00 fee. Returned check/unpaid balances must be settled within 10 days after the competition or will be forwarded to USEF for disciplinary action. CANCELLATION: In the event of rain, it is the responsibility of the rider to contact show management to determine if the show is cancelled. Show will not be cancelled unless footing is deemed unsafe. If the show is cancelled for any reason before the closing date, a $75 fee will be retained from each entry and the balance refunded. RIDE TIMES: Ride times will be available on www.crackerjackproductionsllc.com by Tuesday of the week of the show. Please call Show Management for times if you are unable to access the websites. Ride times will also be posted on the show grounds at the show office. MEMBERSHIPS/ASSOCIATION FEES: USEF federation Fee is $16.00 ($8 Drugs and Medication, $8 USEF), CDFA Drug Fee is $5.00. Senior USEF Show Pass (Non-member) Fee is $30.00. USDF Non-Member Fee is $25.00 (Rider and/or Owner). CDS Travel Grant is $3.00. NOTE: These fees apply per show. Only horses entered into GAIG/USDF Regional Championship qualifying classes are required to have a USEF Horse Identification Number (HID) or USEF Horse Lifetime Registration number. Rider, Owner & Trainer must be Active USEF members. Rider and Owner must be USDF Participating or Business members. Copies of current membership cards MUST accompany entry form. 2014 GAIG/USDF REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS: In order to qualify for a Regional Championship, horse/rider combinations may qualify by earning a minimum of two qualifying scores at two official GREAT AMERICAN/USDF recognized competitions from two different judges in any region. Riders may ride in Qualifying classes both days. See USDF ad in this prize list or go to www.usdf.org to find the minimum qualifying scores required for each level. Non US Citizens may ride in Qualifying classes. ATTENTION COMPETITORS: Each competitor is responsible for supplying management with correct association numbers and copies of current cards as requested (USEF, USDF, CDS and DASC) for Horse, Owner, Rider and Trainer before the day(s) of competition. The scores of competitors who fail to supply correct numbers may not be counted towards national awards. No competition bridle numbers will be issued without copies of the current association numbers as per federation rules. To verify and print association numbers, go to http://eqverification.org/ for USEF and USDF membership numbers. TESTS: Current USEF, USDF and FEI tests will be used. FEI and USDF Musical Freestyles are offered. FREESTYLES: Freestyle class entries require copy of qualifying test at that level or higher. Please mail, scan/email or Fax in qualifying test at time of entry. Riders should submit music to the show office at check in. Music should be labeled with instructions and horse/rider name. Sound checks can be organized with show management. ERRORS: Exhibitors are responsible for their errors and those or their agents. Per DR123, if a mathematical error is discovered on the score sheet, it must be brought to the attention of show management within 1 hour of the official posting of the scores from the last class of the competition day. SCORED TESTS: Tests will be given ONLY TO RIDERS or their agents and only AFTER results are posted and placing established. SHOW OFFICE: The Show Office will be open on Saturday and Sunday 6:00 am 6:00 pm. DOGS: DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT THE RANCHO RIDING CLUB. Please leaver your canine friend at home. 20
Rules and general information continued: FOOD: Food will be available during the weekend. VET AND FARRIER: Are on call. Phone numbers will be posted in the show office. ARENAS: All tests will be ridden in 20 x 60 meter sand arenas. Only horses entered in the show will be permitted in the warm-up and competition arenas. No one on foot is allowed in the warm-up arenas. Horses in the warm up arena must wear their competition numbers. Arenas must be vacated while equipment is being used. Horses are not to be left unattended in arenas at any time. No one may ride a horse entered in the competition on the competition grounds who has not signed an entry form. Riders are NOT allowed in the competition arenas before the show Saturday and Sunday. LUNGING: Lunging is allowed only in designated areas. Lunging is not allowed in the warm-up arena unless designated by show management. SCHOOLING HORSES: Horses may enter the show for schooling on show grounds. Schooling only horses must be registered with the Horse Show Office and will be given a number that will be worn at all times on the showgrounds. Entry form and signed Federation Agreement must be submitted with association information for each horse. Write Schooling for class on entry form. Schooling is allowed in the warm up arena if there is room and the horse is not disruptive. No schooling of horses in or around the competition arenas before or during the days of competition. Schooling fee is $45.00 per day per horse. Schooling horses are also subject to the CDFA Drug fee ($5.00) and office fee ($35). AWARDS: Prize for first place and ribbons for first through third place will be given. Six overall show High Point ribbons and prizes will be given to winners in the Open, AA, JR/YR divisions for Training through Fourth Level and FEI. PROPERTY DAMAGE: All owners and exhibitors will be held responsible for any property damage incurred by them, their agents or employees and shall be billed accordingly. STABLING: There is no stabling at Rancho Riding Club. This is a trailer in show. PARKING: Parking for trailers will be in the dirt parking lot located on the South side of the Rancho Riding Club. Public parking and some overflow trailer parking will be on the north side of the club. Signs and parking attendants will be available to help/direct you. PROTESTS: Any exhibitor, rider, owner, agent, trainer or the parents of a junior exhibitor, or any life, senior, or junior member present at the competition may file a protest with the show management of a licensed competition or the Federation Hearing Committee alleging violations of any Federation rules. The protest must be in writing, signed by the protestor accompanied by a deposit of $200 if made by a Federation member, or $300 if made by a non-member. The sum will be forfeited to the Horse Show if not substantiated. Protests must be received by the show management or the Technical Delegate within 48 hours of the alleged violation. See GR603 for more information. USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT: Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Riders provided the respective breed/discipline category fee has been paid. A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at regular competitions, Eventing competitions, dressage competitions, reining competitions and combined driving competitions upon payment of a $30.00 show pass (non-member) registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the requirements of this rule; 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk/trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level test, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA endorsed reining competitions; 8) opportunity classes; 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own national federation; 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in dressage sport horse breeding classes (See GR807.4 of the Federation rules.) AMATEUR AND JUNIOR/YOUNG RIDERS: Amateurs are defined by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book. All riders entering the AA classes must possess or have applied for an USEF Amateur Card prior to riding in the class. All riders in Amateur Divisions must present an USEF Amateur Card when picking up their number or they will not be allowed to show in the Amateur Division. Cards may be applied for at the show office. Individuals are eligible as Juniors until the end of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 18. Individuals are eligible as Young Riders from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 21. Competitors compete as Adults from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 22 (not 18). Therefore, for dressage competitions, riders between the ages of 18 & 21 compete in Young Rider divisions, NOT adult amateur, even if amateur is indicated on membership cards. JUNIOR/MINOR COMPETITORS: All juniors/minors must be supervised by their parents/guardians or authorized agent while at or on the show grounds whether riding or on foot. The parent/guardian or authorized agent shall assume all responsibility to protect junior/minor from harm and/or loss and shall identify, defend and hold CDS, USDF, USEF, CDS San Diego and Crackerjack Productions LLC harmless there from. No minor entry will be accepted unless signed by a parent or guardian. The signatures of instructors, agents or other non-related persons will not be acceptable. MOTORIZED VEHICLE STATEMENT, GR1307.1: Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may 21
Rules and general information continued: operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6 of the USEF Rule Book. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. HEADGEAR RULE EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2013: From the time horses are officially admitted to the competition grounds by competition management, anyone mounted on a horse at any time on the competition grounds, including non-competing riders, riders on non-competing horses, and those competing in all classes and tests, including Para-Equestrian test, must wear protective headgear as defined by this rule and otherwise in compliance with GR801. Any rider violating this rule at any time must immediately be prohibited from further riding until such headgear is properly in place. Protective headgear is defined as a riding helmet which meets or exceeds ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)/SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. The harness must be secured and properly fitted. SHARPS CONTAINERS, GR1210.4: Competition management shall place a minimum of one sharps container per each competition, whether or not stabling is provided. Competition management may fine any individuals including trainers, owners, exhibitors, or their agents up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. PONY MEASUREMENT: Competitors wishing to have their scores count for pony awards must include a current pony measurement card with their entry. If the competitor wants to have their pony measured by the TD at the show they must let show management know two weeks in advance of the show date. Competitor is responsible for making arrangements with the show s on-call vet. The show is not responsible for making these arrangements, and advises that if the on-call Vet feels it is necessary to travel to a sick or injured horse instead of coming to the show to measure, the show will in no way be held responsible or liable for this decision on the part of the vet. Management will arrange for a measuring stick to be available. Competitor will be responsible for all vet charges, and all charges incurred for rental of a measuring stick if required. MANAGEMENT: The Horse Show Management reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of any incident in the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by the Horse Show Management and their decision will be final. The Horse Show Management reserves the right to refuse, accept, conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify riders and exhibitors, prohibit entries and to cancel award prizes without claim to damage, to change, cancel or combine any classes, to reschedule classes after due notice to exhibitors, or to change rings or to substitute/rotate officials. The judges decisions are strictly their own and the Management accepts absolutely no responsibility for those decisions. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Every horse entered for competition will be under the control of the Horse Show Management, but the Horse Show Management will, in no case, be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Horse Show, its Directors, and Employees, CDS-San Diego Chapter, its Directors and Employees, Crackerjack Productions LLC and Rancho Riding Club harmless for any loss or accident to his horse, horses or equipment which may occur from accident, sickness, fire or otherwise. Management reserves the right to cancel, combine or divide classes, or to change/rotate officials as it deems necessary. The decision of Show Management is final. REFUSAL OF ENTRY: USEF Article 1509 Refusal of Entries. In addition to entries of persons suspended or expelled from the Federation, Show Management at a Recognized Competition may refuse any entry of an exhibitor or the participation of any agent, trainer, rider, driver or handler who has shown an objectionable attitude or behavior at a recognized competition which management is able to substantiate. 22
