3 Welcome to the Spooktacular Halloween Dressage Show I & II! This weekend, you will have two shows to compete in to start your 2015 show season with a scream! Halloween spirit will be mandatory and don t be surprised if you run into a witch or two on the showgrounds. As for the weekend festivities. The welcome reception will kick off on Friday at 4:30 by the barns. On Saturday, starting at 4 pm will be the musical freestyles. Prize money will be awarded for FEI, non-fei and Pas de Deux classes. And if you ride your freestyle in costume, you ll have a chance to win $200 for the best costume winners! After the show s Spooktacular, the fun continues in the white tent with a hauntingly fun Halloween party for competitors and friends hosted by Christine Traurig Dressage. Come by for food, spirits and dancing. Costumes are preferred but not mandatory. Sunday will be the Milan Memorial Equitation Challenge sponsored by Kate Shuster Dressage. This challenge is for Adult Amateur Riders at First Level. Ribbons, medals and prize money will be given to the winners and even a cash prize for the trainer of the winner! Special package pricing is offered for the challenge too. To know more about the Milan Memorial Equitation Challenge, please go to page 7. Also on Sunday at 1:30 pm will be the Dog Costume contest in vendor row. Prizes will be given out for most scariest, best matched pair-pet and human, best of contest winner and more! Purposeful Giving-Breast Cancer Angels The Spooktacular Halloween Dressage Show I & II allows me to fulfill one of my company s missions-to give back to community organizations that make a difference in someone s life. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I am donating a portion of the show s proceeds to Breast Cancer Angels. For over 15 years, Breast Cancer Angels has provided financial and emotional assistance to women and their families while they are going through breast cancer treatment. BCA helps families in Orange County, Long Beach/South Bay and San Diego. And every dollar received in a community stays to help someone in that community. Food, housing, medical co-pays, transportation, home healthcare and final expense, second opinion fund and legal assistance are some of the ways Breast Cancer Angels helps families. As a breast cancer survivor myself, each of these things can make a tremendous difference in a patient s life and help in the healing process. 10 The Milan Memorial Equitation Challenge The Milan Memorial Equitation Challenge for Adult Amateurs Sponsored by Kate Shuster Dressage Milan ( ) was the Grand Prix partner and amazing teacher of Kate Shuster. He loved an audience and loved his work and with him, Kate earned her USDF Gold Medal. In his memory Kate Shuster Dressage is sponsoring the Milan Memorial Equitation Challenge to be held Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Spooktacular Halloween Dressage Show II in Del Mar. The Challenge will offer prize money and medals for the winners! Guidelines for participating: The Challenge is open to Adult Amateurs at First Level. PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR RULE FOR DRESSAGE: Effective March 1, 2011, for dressage: Anyone mounted on a horse must wear protective headgear except those riders age 18 and over while on horses that are competing only in FEI levels and tests at the Prix St. Georges level and above (including FEI Young Rider Tests, the USEF Developing Prix St. Georges Test and the USEF Brentina Cup Test). Attention Competitors Each competitor is responsible for supplying management with correct applicable numbers (USDF and USEF) for horse, owner, rider, and trainer, before the day(s) of the competition. The scores of competitors who fail to supply correct numbers may not be counted toward national awards. 13

14 Hair Raising Rules and Information Every Crackerjack Productions, LLC owned show is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF rule book and will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. Important message from Del Mar Horsepark: STALL BOARDS ARE NO LONGER REMOVABLE PER 22 ND DAA MANAGEMENT (Del Mar Horsepark). They will inspect the barn area and competitors will be fined $100 PER BOARD if the boards have been found removed. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Every horse entered for competition will be under the control of the Horse Show Management, but the Horse Show Management will, in no case, be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Horse Show, its Directors, and Employees, Crackerjack Productions, LLC, its Directors and Employees, harmless for any loss or accident to his horse, horses or equipment which may occur from accident, sickness, fire or otherwise. Management reserves the right to cancel, combine or divide classes, or to change/rotate officials as it deems necessary. The decision of Show Management is final. ENTRIES: Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes are LIMITED in size and may fill before the closing date. Correct fees and organization member numbers must accompany each entry form. No competition number will be issued without a completed entry, full payment, signatures, fees and organization memberships. Please include a copy of your current CDS, USEF, USDF and if appropriate, DASC membership cards. Parents or Guardians must sign entry blanks of minors. The online entry system is FREE for competitors. LATE ENTRIES: Entries must be received by the closing date or they will be considered a late entry and incur a late fee of $25. Late entries will be accepted and given a ride time only if schedule permits. Horses already entered in the horse show will receive priority. REFUNDS: Entries cancelled before the closing date will be refunded minus the office fee. There will be NO REFUNDS after the closing date including natural disasters and acts of God. A CREDIT OF CLASS FEES good for one year will be issued only with a letter from a DVM and upon approval of Show Management. The credit can be used at either The Dressage Affaire or The Spooktacular Halloween Dressage Show before the expiration date. The Credit for class fees is not transferrable to another rider. CHANGES: Any change of horse/rider is the responsibility of the rider or owner. Changes must be reported to the show secretary PRIOR to the start of the class. Failure to make this report to the show secretary may result in elimination. RETURNED CHECKS: All checks returned by the bank will be charged an additional $50.00 return check fee. UNPAID CHARGES: Any exhibitor leaving the show with an unpaid balance for entry fees will be billed for these charges and a $50.00 fee will be added to the total due. Charges must be settled within 10 days after the competition or will be forwarded to USEF for disciplinary action. REFUSAL OF ENTRY: USEF Article 1509 Refusal of Entries. In addition to entries of persons suspended or expelled from the Federation, Show Management at a Recognized Competition may refuse any entry of an exhibitor or the participation of any agent, trainer, rider, driver or handler who has shown an objectionable attitude or behavior at a recognized competition which management is able to substantiate. TESTS: Current USEF, USDF and FEI tests will be used. FEI and USDF Musical Freestyles are offered. OPPORTUNITY CLASSES: Do not require USEF or USDF memberships to compete in these classes. Riders do not have to pay the USEF $16 fee either. The CDFA $5 fee and office fee must be paid. CDS membership is not required yet if the rider has a CDS membership, scores earned can be used to qualify for CDS Championships. Riders may also register for the National Show classes at the show, yet in doing so will be required to pay all required association fees including non-member fees. STABLING: Stabling is $150 for Friday-Sunday. $75 for Friday or Saturday overnight stay. No Straw is permitted-only shavings for bedding. No first bedding is provided unless Premium Stabling Concierge Service is purchased (see ad in this prize list for description). Stabling is in permanent wood barns and 10x10 stalls with wood/metal slider doors. No automatic waterers. Water spigots are located in each barn aisle. For shaving and feed delivery, contact Mary s Tack and Feed at REMOVAL OF STALL BOARDS IS NOT ALLOWED. Fines will apply. Fines for leaving ground cover also apply. Please notify the show office at check in of any stall boards missing or any issues with your stall. Please no smoking in the barn area! NIGHT WATCH: Night watch service is provided by Tom Meyers (see ad in this prize list). STALL CLEANING: Please deposit all manure at the end of the barn aisles in designated area and not in barn aisle itself. NON-COMPETING /SCHOOLING HORSES: Schooling fee is $45.00 per day per horse. If there is room, horses may enter the show for schooling on show grounds. Schooling only horses must be registered with the show office and will be given a number that must be worn at all times when the horse is out of the stall. Entry form and signed Federation Agreement must be submitted for each horse. If sending in paper entry, write Schooling for class on entry form. Schooling is allowed in the warm up arena if there is room and the horse is not disruptive. No school- 14

15 HAIR RAISING RULES AND INFORMATION (CONTINUED): ing of horses in or around the competition arenas before or during the days of competition. Schooling horses are also subject to the CDFA Drug fee ($5.00) and office fee ($35 for online entry and $50 for paper or fax entry). GROUNDS FEE: (for those not stabling) is $35.00/day. Please include this fee in your entry form. RV PARKING: RV parking is available Friday through Sunday for $160. Water and electric hook ups are available. No septic. Add RV parking to entry form. A parking card will be issued to place in window. EARLY ARRIVAL: Competitors and RVs may arrive early starting Thursday the week of the show. If earlier arrival is needed, contact the show manager at to make sure showgrounds are available for earlier arrival. Early arrivals are $55/day for Competitors and RVs. CANCELLATION: In the event of rain, it is the responsibility of the rider to contact show management to determine whether the show is cancelled. Show will not be cancelled unless footing is deemed unsafe. If the show is cancelled for any reason before the closing date, a $75 fee will be retained from each entry and the balance refunded. ERRORS: Exhibitors are responsible for their errors and those or their agents. Per DR123, if a mathematical error is discovered on the score sheet, it must be brought to the attention of show management within 1 hour of the official posting of the scores from the last class of the competition day. SCORED TESTS: Tests will be given only to riders or their agents and only AFTER results are posted and placing established. SHOW OFFICE: The show office will be open Friday am 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday 6:45 am 6:00 pm. MANAGEMENT: The Horse Show Management reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of any incident in the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by the Horse Show Management and their decision will be final. The Horse Show Management reserves the right to refuse, accept, conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify riders and exhibitors, prohibit entries and to cancel award prizes without claim to damage, to change, cancel or combine any classes, to reschedule classes after due notice to exhibitors, or to change rings or to substitute/rotate officials. The judges decisions are strictly their own and the Management accepts absolutely no responsibility for those decisions. RIDE TIMES: Ride times will be available at by Tuesday of the week of the show. Please call Show Management for times if you are unable to access the websites. Ride times will also be posted on the show grounds at the show office. NATIONAL SHOW AWARDS: Prize for first place and ribbons for first through third place will be given. Six overall show High Point ribbons and prizes will be given to winners in the Open, AA, JR/YR divisions for Training through fourth level and FEI at each show; Spooktacular I on Saturday and Spooktacular II on Sunday. PRIZE MONEY-MILAN MEMORIAL EQUITATION CHALLENGE: Milan Memorial Equitation Challenge will offer prize money to the first through third place winners and the trainer of the challenge winner. First place winner will receive $200, second place winner-$100 and third place- $50. The trainer of the challenge winner will receive $100. In the event that there are fewer entries than places in the challenge, the prize money will go back to the sponsor, Kate Shuster Dressage. Prize money will be mailed out to the owner of the horse within thirty days of the competition; it will not be paid at the show. PRIZE MONEY-SPOOKTACULAR FREESTYLE EVENT: $1300 in prize money will be awarded for the freestyle classes held on Saturday afternoon. Prize money will be awarded to the overall winners of the FEI Freestyle Level of Choice ($600), the USDF Freestyle Level of Choice ($400), and the Pas de Deux ($300). First through third place winner will share prize money in a split. Freestyles in COSTUME are not required but highly recommended. Freestyles ridden in costume have chance to win $200 for best costume. $150 for first place and $50 for second place. Freestyle entries require a copy of the qualifying test at the level selected. USEF rules apply to Freestyles ridden in costume. Paint or other markings on the horse are not allowed. Tack must also be in accordance to USEF rules/guidelines. Prize money will be mailed out to the owner of the horse within thirty days of the competition; it will not be paid at the show. VET AND FARRIER: Are on call. Phone numbers will be posted in the show office and at the show scoreboard. ARENAS: All tests will be ridden in 20 x 60 meter sand arenas. Horses entered in the show will be permitted in the warm-up and competition arenas. Non-compete horses are allowed in the warm-up if there is sufficient room. No one on foot is allowed in the warm-up arenas. Horses in the warm up arena must wear their competition numbers. Arenas must be vacated while equipment is being used. Horses are not to be left unattended in arenas at any time. No one may ride a horse entered in the competition on the competition grounds who has not signed an entry form. Competition arenas will be available for warm up Friday. On the days of competition, riders may ride in the competition arenas after the show has ended Saturday. Riders are NOT allowed in the competition arenas before the show Saturday and Sunday. LUNGING: Lunging is allowed only in designated areas. Lunging is not allowed in the warm-up arena unless designated by show management. PROPERTY DAMAGE: All owners and exhibitors will be held responsible for any damage occurred by them, their agents or employees to stalls, buildings and other property on the show grounds and shall be billed accordingly. 15

16 HAIR RAISING RULES AND INFORMATION (CONTINUED): PROTESTS: Any exhibitor, rider, owner, agent, trainer or the parents of a junior exhibitor, or any Life, senior, or junior member present at the competition may file a protest with the show management of a licensed competition or the Federation Hearing Committee alleging violations of any Federation rules. The protest must be in writing, signed by the protestor accompanied by a deposit of $200 if made by a Federation member, or $300 if made by a non-member. The sum will be forfeited to the Horse Show if not substantiated. Protests must be received by the show management or the Technical Delegate within 48 hours of the alleged violation. See GR603 for more information. DOGS: Dogs must be leashed on show grounds, including stabling area. Any dog becoming a nuisance, the owner will be asked to remove the dog from the grounds. USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT: Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Riders provided the respective breed/discipline category fee has been paid. A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at regular competitions, Eventing competitions, dressage competitions, reining competitions and combined driving competitions upon payment of a $30.00 show pass (non-member) registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the requirements of this rule; 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk/trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level test, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA endorsed reining competitions; 8) opportunity classes; 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own national federation; 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in dressage sport horse breeding classes (See GR807.4 of the Federation rules.) Horses entered in the GAIG/USDF Regional Championship qualifying classes are required to have a USDF Horse Lifetime Registration number or annual membership and be USEF Lifetime or Annual Recorded. A USDF horse-identification number is not acceptable. Rider, Owner & Trainer must be Active USEF members. Rider must have a USDF Participating membership. Owner must have a participating or Business membership. Copies of current membership cards MUST accompany entry form. If membership cards are not available, an avadavat form and $5 fee maybe submitted as acceptable proof of membership. This can be done in the show office. AMATEUR AND JUNIOR/YOUNG RIDERS: Amateurs are defined by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book. All riders entering the Adult Amateur classes must possess or have applied for an USEF Amateur Card prior to riding in the class. All riders in Amateur Divisions must present an USEF Amateur Card when picking up their number or they will not be allowed to show in the Amateur Division. Cards may be applied for at the show office. Individuals are eligible as Juniors until the end of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 18. Individuals are eligible as Young Riders from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 21. Competitors compete as Adults from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 22 (not 18). Therefore, for dressage competitions, riders between the ages of 18 & 21 compete in Young Rider divisions, NOT adult amateur, even if amateur is indicated on membership cards. MINOR EXHIBITORS: Parents or guardians of minor exhibitors shall hold CDS, USDF, USEF and Crackerjack Productions, LLC harmless for injury to such minors. No minor entry will be accepted unless signed by a parent or guardian. The signatures of instructors, agents or other nonrelated persons will not be acceptable. All juniors/minors must be supervised by their parents/guardians or authorized agent while at or on the show grounds whether riding or on foot. MOTORIZED VEHICLE STATEMENT, GR1307.1: Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6 in the USEF rule book. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule GAIG/USDF REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS: In order to qualify for a Regional Championship, horse/rider combinations may qualify by earning a minimum of two qualifying scores at two official GREAT AMERICAN/USDF recognized competitions from two different judges in any region. Riders may ride in Qualifying classes both days. See USDF ad in this prize list or go to to find the minimum qualifying scores required for each level. Non US Citizens may ride in Qualifying classes. HEADGEAR RULE EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2013: From the time horses are officially admitted to the competition grounds by competition management, anyone mounted on a horse at any time on the competition grounds, including non-competing riders, riders on non-competing horses, and those competing in all classes and tests, including Para-Equestrian test, must wear protective headgear as defined by this rule and otherwise in compliance with GR801. Any rider violating this rule at any time must immediately be prohibited from further riding until such headgear is properly in place. Protective headgear is defined as a riding helmet which meets or exceeds ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)/SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. The harness must be secured and properly fitted. SHARPS CONTAINERS, GR1210.4: Competition management shall place a minimum of one sharps container per each competition, whether or 16

Additionally, at least one sharps container per fifty occupied stalls for the disposal of needles and other disposable sharp instruments in convenient locations in barns housing competition horses. Competition management may fine any individuals including trainers, owners, exhibitors, or their agents up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. PONY MEASUREMENT: Competitors wishing to have their scores count for pony awards must include a current pony measurement card with their entry. If a pony needs to be measured, the owner or agent must notify show management in writing at least 5 days before the start of the competition. Show management will schedule the show Veterinarian and Technical Delegate to make the measurement. Management will arrange for a measuring stick to be available. Owner/Agent will be charged $ USEF/FEI PONY QUALIFYING: These classes are open to Riders age (DR 119.8). Competitors must earn scores in both the team and individual tests throughout the qualifying period; however, they are not mandated to ride both tests at each qualifying competition. 27 The 2015 USDF/Dover Saddlery Adult Amateur Medal Program The USDF/Dover Saddlery Adult Amateur Medal Program is designed to specifically recognize and encourage adult amateurs riding at Second Level. Awards: 1. USDF/Dover Saddlery Medal Recipient: The eligible rider with the highest score of 60 percent or better in the designated Second Level Test Three class or applicable test of choice USDF/Dover Saddlery Adult Amateur medal class at a participating competition will receive a handcrafted USDF/Dover Saddlery pewter medal and neck ribbon. Winners will receive a $20 Dover Saddlery gift certificate for the first three USDF/Dover Saddlery Medals they win during the competition season. 2. USDF/Dover Saddlery National Merit Award: A USDF/Dover Saddlery National Merit Award will be awarded to riders winning three USDF/Dover Saddlery Medals in the same competition year. 3. Year-End Awards: The USDF/Dover Saddlery Medal National Champion and Reserve Champion are determined from the average of the top three winning ride scores during the competition year. The champion receives a $1000 Dover Saddlery gift certificate and the reserve champion receives a $500 Dover Saddlery gift certificate. Rider Eligibility: 1. Rider must have a current USDF Participating or Group Membership and be a member in good standing of USDF when the scores are earned. 2. Rider must be an adult amateur in accordance with Article GR1306 of the USEF rules and be designated with USEF as an adult amateur at the time the scores are earned. Owner and Horse Eligibility: 1.
