Chapter 1 Cnfiguring and Mnitring AS400 Servers In this chapter, we will be discussing hw t cnfigure and mnitr AS400 servers. 1.1 Administering the eg Manager t wrk with an AS400 Server T achieve the abve, d the fllwing: 1. Lg int the eg administrative interface. 2. Since the eg Enterprise suite des nt autmatically discver the AS400 server in an envirnment, add the cmpnent manually using the ADD/MODIFY COMPONENTS page (Infrastructure -> Cmpnents -> Add/Mdify). Remember that cmpnents manually added are managed autmatically. Discvered cmpnents, hwever, are managed using the COMPONENTS - MANAGE/UNMANAGE page. Figure 1.1 clearly illustrates the prcess f adding the AS400 server. Fr mre details n managing cmpnents, refer t Cnfiguring and Mnitring Web Servers dcument. Figure 1.1: Managing the selected AS400 server 1

3. AS400 servers are by default mnitred in an agentless manner. Accrdingly, the Agentless flag in Figure 1.1 is set t Yes by default. T perfrm agentless mnitring f the AS400 server, select Other as the OS and SNMP as the Mde in Figure 1.1. Then, select a Remte agent and click the Add buttn t manage the server. 4. Next, try t sign ut f the eg administrative interface. 5. A LIST OF UNCONFIGURED TESTS listing the AS400 tests requiring manual cnfiguratin, will appear (see Figure 1.2). Figure 1.2: The uncnfigured tests f the AS400 server 6. Click n the HstSystem test t cnfigure it. Ding s will reveal the Hst System test cnfiguratin page (see Figure 1.3). This test mnitrs the number f users accessing a server, and the prcesses executing n the server. Figure 1.3: Cnfiguring the Hst System test 7.
