Employability Award Our KPA Level 3 Award in Employability is a recognised qualification designed to equip students with the skills, attitudes and behaviours that are required to become ready for the workplace. Through the award, you will build a portfolio of achievements from your degree course and additional activities that will demonstrate to employers that you have the ability to succeed in your career. The award will cover two key areas aimed at putting you on the right track to gaining a job: Career development: This is about identifying your career goals by creating a personal career development plan. It also looks into what employers look for in a new employee alongside time management skills they need to develop. Communication: Looking at communication both verbally and non-verbally, team work, presentation skills and creating a positive first impression. The qualification is assessed in a very practical way which complements your degree programme. Over the learning hours you will put together a portfolio which is assessed by your employability coach. All new students joining the first year of an undergraduate degree will be eligible to join the award. If you are a new student joining a four-year course with a foundation year, you will be eligible for the award when you join Year One. Launching in 2015, our Level 4 Employability Award will give students the opportunity to progress on to a higher level employability qualification on successful completion of their Level 3 Award. Keep an eye on our website for more details. Our aim is to bridge the gap between the specific attributes that employers are looking for, and the skills that graduates hold as they enter the workplace. Introducing our two-year degrees With an increasingly competitive graduate job market, two-year accelerated degrees are becoming a popular choice for students who want to get ahead of the competition. A two-year accelerated degree includes one additional semester per academic year compared to the traditional three-year study route. Rather than having a summer break of between three and four months, you will have two onemonth breaks either side of your additional semester of study. The intensity of study in terms of contact time per week is the same as a three-year degree. You simply study for a greater part of the year. Many students use the time saved by a two-year degree to complete their relevant professional qualification in what would have been their third year. Accountants can complete ACCA, ACA (ICAEW) or CIMA in the year they save, whilst aspiring solicitors and barristers can also complete the LPC or BPTC. In just three years you can be both academically and professionally exam qualified in your chosen field; a clear competitive advantage with which to start your career. Complete your undergraduate studies in just two years Be more efficient with your studies without sacrificing the quality of your work Save money on living costs by studying for only two years, instead of three Use the year you save to do your professional qualification and get even further ahead of your peers UK and EU students All of the two-year accelerated degrees offered by Kaplan Holborn College are eligible for student finance.
