Stewart & Stevenson Power Generation Stewart & Stevenson designs, engineers, manufactures, tests and certifies power generation packages for land based and offshore drilling operations. These energy efficient, operator friendly and easy to service power generation packages feature quality components that ensure continuous operation in challenging oilfield environments and engine controls for safety shutdown and self-diagnostics. In addition, we provide the drilling and well servicing market with new and refurbished engines, power units and pump packages that increase productivity, improve efficiencies and reduce costs. Product support by certified technicians is available wherever on the globe our customers put our equipment into service. Generator Synchronization Controller The generator controller includes the engine generator regulator, which controls speed and voltage of the diesel generator sets, the backup control, synchronizing equipment and bus feeder breakers. A motor control center controls and protects the auxiliary equipment. The generator control system, designed as a universal generator set controller, operates with either 12 or 24 volt DC electronics, at 50 or 0 Hz and at AC ratings up to 00 volts. It can be used for diesel, natural gas, LP and gasoline engines. All generator set parameters oil pressure, fuel level, engine temperature, battery voltage, AC voltage, phase, AC amperage and frequency are monitored on the 32-character, back-lit LCD display. Silicone Controlled Rectifier (SCR) Systems Stewart & Stevenson designs, builds and supplies custom SCR systems that typically consist of a DC-2000 drive, motor controls, respective consoles, AC generator control and transformers. When required, the system is installed in an environmentally controlled power control room or building. Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Systems The VFD system allows the operator to control the frequency and voltage going to an electric motor. Using a joystick control, the operator can precisely control the speed at which the motor is turning. On an electric rig, an electric motor turns the drawworks. By controlling the speed of that motor through the VFD, the operator controls the speed at which the traveling block moves up and down the mast. Other motors on an electric rig are similarly controlled by the VFD. Housed separately, it may be operated in the control cabin. 1
