3 ABOUT US THE STI GROUP began as Southeast Texas Metal Works in 1978 under the leadership of Richard Purkey. The company s humble beginnings included 8,000 square feet of shop space and employed just 2 people. The business started slow but soon progressively expanded. Mr. Purkey s key to success was the relationships he developed and the grassroots way of doing business. In 1989, Paul Spence was given the responsibility of managing the company. The company is now known as STI GROUP. STI GROUP presently has over 500,000 square feet of indoor fabrication facilities in nine locations. 9 CHEVRON PORT ARTHUR STEAM EXPANSION RAIN CII BOILER INSTALLATION STI GROUP erected and installed 2 Rentech 250,000 PPH Boilers and all associated piping at Chevron Phillips Chemical Plant in Port Arthur, TX. Jacobs Engineering served as the general contractor on the project selecting STI Group for their experience and reputation of managing large boiler projects. The associated piping consisted of over 10,000 ft of piping with welds. The work also included the bearings being balanced and the fans being aligned as well as setting the ID, FD, Stack, Economizers and Lube Oil Skids. STI GROUP was selected to erect a Waste Heat Boiler and all associated equipment at Rain CII in Sulphur, LA. The project included the erection of the Baghouse, Scrubber, all Pumps, Fans, Motors, and Ductwork. The work required the construction and installation of over 10,000 ft of piping. With over 2,000 welds, STI GROUP exceeded expectations by needing only one repair. Our field service teams successfully executed the comprehensive scope with efficiency, quality and safety. Erected two 250,000/lbs PPH Rentech Boilers and associated piping onsite at Chevron Phillips Port Arthur, TX facility. Erection of New Waste Heat HRSG Boiler and inter-connecting piping, steel, and ductwork. Erection of Dustex Scrubber Bag House and all equipment, steel and duct work. 15
