Course information Overview This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to apply contemporary project management practices in a variety of workplace contexts. It focuses on the technical and managerial competencies to initiate, plan and execute all phases of a project including evaluating the work output of others. This course is equivalent to BSB51413 Diploma of Project Management. Award Upon successful completion of the course requirements, participants will be awarded: BSB51415 Diploma of Project Management Who should attend? This course is suitable for those people in a project leadership or supervisory/management role with responsibility for achieving project objectives. Packaging rules Total number of units = 12 (8 core + 4 elective). 4 elective units must be selected from the elective units listed in the packing rules Elective units chosen must be relevant to the work and industry context for project management. They must not include the choice of the unit BSBPMG522A Undertake project work. Selecting elective units Students may enquire about alternative electives not listed below. This includes students seeking credit transfer for elective units that meet the packaging rules for this qualification and students seeking to undertake alternative units of competency via distance or RPL. ISI will only provide alternative elective units if we have the training and assessment materials to cover the elective and a trainer/assessor with the relevant vocational competency. UNIT INFORMATION BSBPMG511 Manage project scope determine and manage project scope. It involves obtaining project authorisation, developing a scope-management plan, and managing the application of project scope controls. BSB51415 8 core + 4 elective BSBPMG512 Manage project time manage time in projects. It involves determining and implementing the project schedule, and assessing time-management outcomes. BSBPMG513 Manage project quality manage quality in projects. It involves determining quality requirements, implementing quality control and assurance processes, and using review and evaluation to make quality improvements in current and future projects. BSBPMG514 Manage project cost identify, analyse and refine project costs to produce a budget, and to use this budget as the principal mechanism to control project cost. BSBPMG515 Manage project human resources manage human resources in and for projects. It involves planning for human resources, implementing personnel training and development, and managing the project team. 3

Project Communication management ensures the timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage and disposal of project information through formal structures and processes. BSB51415 8 core + 4 elective BSBPMG517 Manage project risk manage risks that may impact on achieving project objectives. It involves identifying, analysing, treating and monitoring project risks, and assessing risk-management outcomes. BSBPMG521 Manage project integration integrate and balance the overall project management functions of scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk and procurement across the project life cycle; and to align and track the project objectives to comply with organisational goals, strategies and objectives. BSBPMG518 Manage project procurement undertake procurement in projects. It involves determining procurement requirements, establishing agreed procurement processes, conducting contracting and procurement activities, and managing finalisation processes. Elective BSBPMG519 Manage project stakeholder engagement manage stakeholder relationships during a project. It involves ensuring the timely and appropriate involvement of key individuals, organisations and groups throughout the project. BSBWOR502 Ensure team effectiveness facilitate all aspects of teamwork within the organisation. It involves taking a leadership role in the development of team plans, leading and facilitating teamwork and actively engaging with the management of the organisation. Elective Elective BSBMGT502 Manage people performance This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to manage the performance of staff who report to them directly. Development of key result areas and key performance indicators and standards, coupled with regular and timely coaching and feedback, provide the basis for performance management. Elective 4
Course duration Participants have twelve (12) months to complete the training and assessment requirements of the qualification. This course is delivered using a blended approach of learning. Learners will attend some classroom training, as well as self-paced and assisted distance study. You will have a dedicated study buddy assisting you and encouraging you throughout your learning journey. You will also have fully qualified trainer support available during the day via phone, email and Skype.
